I ended up taking it to a shop to get it done right. They replaced most everything. They did warranty it though so thats good i guess

Figured it out and fixed. It was the thermostat control above the right knee to right of steering column. Also, talked to people at autoacsolutions who made AC unit and they have the thermostat units on hand for like $90.

Got it working. Yeah. However, the AC does cut off sometimes. I was told it was the under the dash knob that control coolness level. (not sure what this part is called) Anyway, is this something i should look to replace or fix? I looked around on a few sites and didnt see any listed.

thanks. I have re-wired everything except the battery power wire. will do that today or tomorrow and give an update. Is it possible that 1 loose speaker wire (or if wire polarity is backwards) would affect all 4 speakers sound?

    I do

here is what i have done. Replaced alternator for this and another reason. Didnt fix issue. I bought new wiring harness, re-hooked ALL wiring and checking all connections. Replaced head unit with new, identical model. Music is still crackling periodically whether its a CD or radio. btw, its all the speakers not just say 1 or 2.
  7. i have a modest sound system. 4 speakers total and a CD player/head unit. No amplifiers. Was working fine, now all speakers have this terrible sound coming out of them that sounds like a mix of static and cracking. Its not a stereo ground wire. Some web research said it might be either the battery, starter, or alternator. Anyone have any experience with anything similar?

new fuel pump wasnt sucking in. I put the old pump back on and its working fine. Long way to fix something that was fine all along...

OK. Thank you. It all seems odd to me at least. I am driving around, no issue... then car dies. i replaced fuel pump and still has an issue. I do remember going through 3 new alternators though before one finally worked....maybe these pumps are also prone to not working out of the box I am thinking about testing the fuel rails to see if air will pass without obstruction...maybe that is wrong thinking though

got the only pump walmart had but it did worked. Fuel is now up to fuel filter area. I put more gas in bowls. Car Started right up. ran for a minute or two fine then died. used up the fuel in bowls and wont start again. Seems like fuel is simply not making it and somewhere from fuel filter to carbs is being stopped.
  12. Wally replied to Wally's post in a topic in Carburetor Central
I filled the bowls again. It ran a while this time but did die again. No fuel in filter still. I have a manual bulb type pump like in image. If i connect like i did in image would this work as a vacuum pump? maybe i need to block off hose end i have on fuel pump and just leave other side until fuel gets in filter
  13. Wally replied to Wally's post in a topic in Carburetor Central
I put some fuel in the bowls. Then sprayed in hose you said. It fired up great. It ran for a sec or two and cut off again. Should i keep repeating this or it pump now primed and just keep turning engine over until pump pulls from tank up to front

eek. i did not. To be honest...i am not sure how to. i will try to find a source and read up on it

OK, i put in a new fuel pump with spacer and gaskets. I hooked up hoses and tried to start. It still wont. It cranks and turns over good just seems like not getting gas. I unhooked top part of fuel filter that goes to pump and put the hose in a small bottle with gas. Still would not start. unhooked hose to pump and did not look like it was pulling any gas at all. If fuel rails got "clogged" would this stop pump from pulling?

Here is new fuel pump from oreillys. Not oem. Did they make these with a spacer built in? Dont have an oem pump to compare to. Or is this same as oem ones and needs a spacer

The compressor, surprisingly, blew easily to back. Lots of free air flow. Battery hooked up to charger, tried for a couple minutes to start or at least move some gas up to front. wouldnt start. Took lines around fuel filter off to see if any gas at all was coming up front. Its not. Maybe it is the fuel pump. strange.
  21. Wally replied to Wally's post in a topic in Carburetor Central
it wont start. it does crank fine. took off fuel filter, was a clear OEM one so could see it was clogged. Blew compressed air can into line...very faint out of gas cap area. Can is small and weak though. got a new fuel filter and re-tried. Nothing. Checked line and No gas is coming from tank to fuel pump. The fuel pump is was bought new only a year ago so doubt that could be the issue. Will get my big air compressor and blow air back to tank and see if that loosens something up.

Huh. this is odd. cruising neighborhood. Low on gas. Go to corner store get $5 worth. Head home which is about 2-3 blocks and car dies and wont crank. Definitely a gas issue. Fuel filter is dry with nothing in it. thoughts? even if bad gas would if take hold that quickly
