  1. for the comment, F4W71A transmission AKA “monkey motion shifter” this is over my pay grade 🙂 can anybody direct me to additional resources that would help me identify my tranny or this process? on my tranny the only #'s i see are 5 18 303
  2. I am replacing most everything. not sure about the oil pump though. most of them i see are around 100 bucks and the shaft spindle is another hundred or so by itself. seems kinda high to me

As you can see the bottom bolt where the inlet water goes has issues. i took it to a shop i have gone to for years and they could drill and tap it. They said to fix: -will need head gasket set, timing set, timing cover gasket set, timing cover, head bolts + labor They also said you had to take the friggin head off....what... I stopped by a local mom and pop garage ive never used. a friendly guy came out and talked to me. Incidentally he said he had a 240z a long time ago. He told me the other shop was full of $^!#. He said take the valve cover off and there were like 2 bolts up front you take out. then a bolt out of the water pump pulley... he said its fairly simple. So to summarize he said buy new timing cover and head gasket. thats all. no need for the rest unless it needs new timing etc. Can anyone confirm who is correct? thanks

OK couple of questions 1. on the bottom pulley where my hand is there are 3 slots.... is only 1 of them used? 2. In the other photo i have a black bracket with pulley laying on the engine hoist leg. Whats this pulley for and does it mount right below the fuel pump and above the alternator? thanks

HI all I am going to be looking for some help in the couple months after i get my car back from painter; i take it in around February 1st for paint. I would like someone who can devote at least 5 full days. Prefer someone close enough to drive, but i am open to someone who flies in/out (i will pay if cheap flight) and pay for hotel, food and fair wage in cash. If interested or know someone who might be interested message me and lets talk, i can phone if you like. Main thing is whoever is very familiar about most aspects of 240z and parts. thanks

Need little help. One image attached..It is from inside looking through gear shifter section marked 2's...is anything to be attached here? Section marked 1 is where tranny slips in... I am wondering if i leave motor and tranny connected and remove it all at once does it simply simply out of this housing then slip back in when re-attaching? thanks

i was able to find the following in the image attached. Person told me they were out of a later 240z...(not sure). however they do align and fit up with the seat holes on my 71 240z seats. so i am gonna go with this as soon as i clean them up a bit. If anyone has the 3rd hinge i am missing from this set please pm me. Its the one from the inside hinge of the driver seat .
