  2. Any strut bar makes a difference, the Cusco looks great as well. When I restored my '70 I also put in MSA's beefier front AND REAR sway bars. Working with the strut bar, the car tracks much tighter, it is a noticiable improvement. Those strut towers really flex with the 240's thin sheet metal. The 240Z did not come with a rear sway bar, although the '73s had the brackets for them. If you like to drive enthusiastically, I highly recommend the sway and strut bars.
  3. Thanks! I've since swapper the MSA strut bar pictured with a Cusco, looks much better.
  4. Not stock but looks awesome. And I do believe that black will dissipate heat a bit faster. Here's my 1970 #3833.
  5. One week away! LotZ of classic Z vintage race cars on display! HLS30-0006 (Toronto Auto Show model dented car, BSR #38), 1975 BSR #33 240Z (Posey GTU champ), 1968 BRE 510, HLS30-00013 (first Z available to the public), HLS30-00008 (Jan '70 Road & Track cover car, Speakman Daytona car) AND MORE. The three oldest known North American 240Zs in existence, in one place at the same time. When will you get another chance to see that? http://www.zccr.net/main/Uploaded/2012HIDRegistration.pdf http://www.zccr.net/main/Uploaded/AICSweb_poster.jpg

The heater box assembly itself is the same '70-'73. If your heater core is bad, a radiator shop can repair it. In fact, have it refreshed NOW while the box is out of the car! I have a complete heater box assembly from a '73. Email me: jrt3833@hotmail.com if interested.
  7. I'm looking for the plastic seat recliner covers for a 1977/78 280Z, NOT the earlier flimsy covers from 1972-76 cars. No cracks or damage. Need the driver side but will take both. Please respond to jrt3833@hotmail.com . Thanks.

  10. That's not a beige interior, it's dirty white. Nissan didn't offer a beige interior on the 240Z. From everything I see, it's a 131,000 mile car all day long. But it still seems to be fairly solid for the asking price in SoCal, it would be more in the northeast. Good Luck!
  11. Our worst nightmare. I thank the stars that you survived. Your Z gave it's life for you. Now, go get another!
  12. I am in need of the lower steering column for a 240Z, the part with the u-joint that attaches to the rack. U-joint must be TIGHT, no slop or excessive play. Please reply to jrt3833@hotmail.com. Thanks.

I painted my suspension and underside with POR-15, gloss black. Dried smooth and hard as a rock. Very durable and looks great. I powdercoated my bumpers, grill and rear trim panel in a sand-finish satin black. Extremely durable, low maintenance and looks terrific. IMO, no need to spend the extra money to powdercoat your suspension unless you are one of those guys who likes to display your car with mirrors.
  16. 1977-78 280z door latches are different from earlier models. Doors are all the same 70-76 except for more steel inside the later versions.
  17. There are very few spots still open for the Watkins Glen portion of the ZCCR All Japanese Car Show Weekend! If interested get info at www.zccr.net and reserve your spot NOW!

I agree with you as far as content, not everyone who posts here is correct. What I do object to are the nasty, sarcastic comments which are unnecessary and rude. You can agree to disagree without being that way. It's easy to be aggressive and nasty from behind the safety of a computer screen. I would prefer to make my own determination on what is posted rather than have one member abuse another, however it may be intended, in this forum.

Alan, the purpose of this board is for discussion, which it does a great job of generating. Opinions and facts are solicited to allow the reader to come to his own conclusions. It seems that you use this forum as a venue to be critical, condescending and just plain rude. We know you are in Europe. We know you advocate the history of Zs OTHER than North American cars. No need to be so damn nasty. Please shelve the attitude and contribute to the discussions or just go away. Enough already.

Got to be HLS30-00003. Note that the emblems on the brochure are airbrushed on, and poorly at that! Ahh, 1969 graphics technology! Wouldn't it be great to fill in the blanks and find out what ever happened to HLS30-00001,2,3,4,5 and 9-12??? SOMEBODY, SOMEWHERE must know! :bulb:
  21. zcar70 replied to moonpup's post in a topic in Open Discussions
You are correct Mike. I was referring to the 240z trifold brochure with the "flying" 240z logo on the front.

The carpet on the strut towers is glued in place with 3M spray adhesive. It's not any looser than the vinyl on your towers. It is easily peeled back should you want to remove it. I decided to leave the carpet intact over the strut tower bolts instead of cutting holes in the carpet and using the plastic caps. Since the carpet can be peeled off to reach the bolts, it was a non-issue.

The red car in the first 240Z brochure was HLS30-00007. The green one is HLS30-00006 and the silver one is HLS30-00008. Thanks to Carl Beck for this. By the way 00006 AND 00008 AND 00013 are all going to be on display at ZCCR's All Japanese Car Show on July 10, look at the events calendar. #400 was/is red, look at the engine bay tag THROUGH the grease. Lotta money for a siezed up car that was driven hard and put away wet. Buyer is buying the VIN and a huge restoration tab.
  24. zcar70 replied to rv6aflyer's post in a topic in Interior
The quilted vinyl definitely is unique to the 240Z, a signature feature. Back in the day it was criticized for looking "cheap" and it did. But Nissan, then as now, put the money where it counted: performance. The best bang for the buck out there. That being said, when I restored my 240, it was not 100% stock, so I decided on SEATZ's full carpet kit. I preferred the plusher look and the sound insulating factor. If I was doing a 100 point factory restoration I would use the vinyl , no question. That's the great thing about the Z, you can have it any way YOU like it! :classic:
