1977 280z EGR/BPT Intake Plug Size
This made my night haha. You got your priorities straight... respect👍 Yah, I will have to check the BCDD again. I rebuilt the little thing when I did the engine. So many little places to mess up it's hellfire when something is amiss in these systems.

1977 280z EGR/BPT Intake Plug Size
Will do, I'll remove it and see what lies below. The thing is that every video I have watched the youtuber has either plugged or welded both those holes, even with the block off plate. So they must do something I would think. Especially for the BPT, because it is totally isolated from the EGR valve on the intake. However, if that logic was true you would think they would sell the plugs with the block off plate. Hmmm. Man I pray it's a vacuum problem and not some other demon:( Otherwise it's just gonna be me, my wallet, a multimeter, and a whole lot of cursing hahahahaha. Thanks for the help!

1977 280z EGR/BPT Intake Plug Size
Hey guys! So I bought a 1977 280z that has been sitting for some 30 years. Earlier this year I redid the engine and all of its components, and a new fuel system front to back . Upon start up it ran, but wouldn't rev past 1200rpm without holding the throttle down. Checked the AFM and noticed the flap was bobbling and barely moving. When I manually held it open The car ran beautifully and could rev quick and easy. So it got me thinking why the flap wasn't opening. Of course vacuum, and I remembered I am an idiot and never plugged the ports I left open after deleting the EGR/BPT valves (I got long tube headers). Anyways, I have searched everywhere, but no one seems to know the plug size. Some say it is BSPT, but it seems to be all speculation. Was going to run a plug with some JB weld or thread sealer so these are plugged forever. Does anyone know the sizes? Home depot and ace hardware both were unable to help me solve this problem, so you guys are my last resort! Provided below are photos of what needs to be plugged (one smaller hole on side of the manifold where EGR used to be, and a large one where the EGR pipe went underneath the manifold). I also attached photos of what used to plug them from the old EGR and BPT system. Thank you guys in advance!

1977 280z #307 paint code questions.
Ok, sweet thx! Yah, I figured the sunroof was an originality killer, but it will be a nicely restored driver's car. I wonder in the future if the sunroofs will ever loose their stigma, as mine was 100% dealer installed. As I know they are rarer to come by, but also frowned upon. I've been considering ditching it, but would that require an entire new roof, or could I just weld in something to fill the hole.

1977 280z #307 paint code questions.
Hey guys, I have a early 1977 280z with a #307 factory paint code and off-white interior. I know it is #307, because I found it written into the warranty booklet. It has had a repaint in a different shade of blue since the original. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone has photos of #307 Pacific Blue on any z cars. I can't seem to find people with good photos, because they are only speculating that is the color. Is this a rare color code? Looking to repaint my Z soon and am not sure yet if I should go with the factory blue or a different shade. Will repainting it the factory color add any significant value over a different color? Not that it matters to much to me, but I am curious. Thanks in advance!

280z Steering Rack Options
Lucky you! Mine is pretty good, but there are some surface rust spots starting to show in some areas though underneath. Don't you worry, I plan on driving the **** out of it before it is painted and I have to worry about keeping things looking "pretty".

280z Steering Rack Options
That stuff is awesome. I have a can though I only used it to paint the outside of my gas tank so far. Would you recommend spraying the bottom of the car with that stuff, and then putting like a bed liner type paint over it? I still am not sure how I am going to paint the car. Mainly just trying to get the car moving so I can horse around with it for a little before I tackle refinishing the body. Also when I get to it, do you recommend stripping the entire car to the shell and stripping everything off and then painting. Or can I just seal the surface rust on the bottom of the car by painting over it. Just curious what you think.

Ok! Do I need to get any specialty tools like a slide hammer for the bearings or anything? Also, how did you paint the housing? Did you get it powder coated somewhere, or just use the standard enamel paint process. Thanks!

280z Steering Rack Options
Awesome thank you! This took me to several different threads that I found helpful. Didn't realize that Rockauto sold the smaller worm gear seals which is super helpful for me. About how long did it take you to do the full rebuild?

280z Steering Rack Options
Hey Guys! I am in the process of reviving a 1977 280z coupe that has been sitting since the early 90s outside (must be a minor miracle cause there is minimal surface rust underneath and on the body). Anyways, the rack and pinion didn't get so lucky, looks like hell. Both boots are basically plastic and have fallen off. There is slop bust mostly on the outer tie rod ends that I can see. It needs some serious TLC and I was wondering if I should rebuild it, or if there is an option to buy a new one. I can't seem to find much information out there for buying a new 280z rack and pinion. Found tons for the 240z, but it seems like the 280z rack is a little different. I also cannot find any kits out there to rebuild the 280z's. Is a 240z rack pretty much plug and play? Wondering if I should maybe just put one of those in there, but I am not sure of the drawbacks. Or, does anyone have any experience rebuilding the 280z rack and what parts they used; I will never turn down the challenge of a rebuild, just need some tips. Trying to find the best approach I should take at this point. Thank you everyone in advance!
