I wish we had Napa in our area.

New booster, now sticky brakes
The booster is from Autozone. I sorely regret turning in the core. The was a lock washer and seal in the unit. I took them out. since I have it out, and it came with a warranty, I may see about getting a replacement, just because.

New booster, now sticky brakes
I pulled the booster out. Mine doesn't look like the factory pic. I don't see a plunger with a rubber disc on the end. The rod is attached to a large disc and it is captured by the spring, won't pull out. I don't see or hear anything rattling around.

New booster, now sticky brakes
I’m trying to remember, but I seem to recall that when I pulled the rod out of the booster, it was just that - a rod. I didn’t see a steel cup, never mind a rubber disc. Am I missing more than a reaction disc?

So this disc is inside the booster? Is that item 18 in the drawing?

New booster, now sticky brakes
I installed a new brake booster and now I have LOTS of brakes! Anything more than minimal pressure and the brakes are on hard. i was careful to measure the lengths of the brake rods and the master cylinder rod, so the new booster is set up exactly the same. They don’t seem to be hanging up; none of the wheels show excessive heat after a short drive. The brakes worked ok before the booster swap; the old booster just had an air leak. any suggestions?

LED headlight question
I just completed my conversion on a 73Z to sealed beam LED headlights. I recommend the video at the bottom before buying $49 bugeye lights. I went with Trucklite 27270C units, and I found a harness from LED online that provided my negative switching needs. I’m very happy with the results. next up, sexy headlight covers!

MSA fuse box doesn’t fit
I sorted this out! Wanted to close out the thread. My problem was addressed by a combination of fixes: I repaired the broken console (was broken in three places and sitting too low), reinstalled the PO’s aftermarket radio (was pushing down on the harness), rerouted wiring around the fuse box, cleaned up sloppy wiring, and general returning-things-to-their-proper-places. thanks to all here for their thoughtful responses. Hope I can do the same soon. regards, bob t

MSA fuse box doesn’t fit
Thanks for the input. Here's a picture c of the mount, unfortunately, welded to the tunnel. As a workaround I could cut it loose (!) and relocate it (!!). Trying to avoid fire and sparks inside the cabin. Hoping that it's just installed wrong, or is the wrong part....

MSA fuse box doesn’t fit
Previous owner installed a MSA fuse box in the 73 240Z. Installed in the stock location. it appears to be too tall. The “door” containing the indicators won’t shut all the way; someone broke it trying to push it down. the fuses seem to be taller than those in the sales photos. (See my pics below.) Is this possible? Anybody run into this? Suggestions? edit: here’s a pic from the seller...

Where are the relays in the electrical drawings.
I found a great thread buried in the archives. It’s title is “Wiring Path for Electric Fuel Pump”. I also copied the graphic from the thread identifying the relays on the kick panel. It may help the next guy find it without help. Appreciate the fine advice from Steve. I need to spend some time rummaging in the archives! regards, Bob t

Where are the relays in the electrical drawings.
Ah! Thanks, Steve. I looked at the drawing in the FSM and it is a little more enlightening. (page attached; sorry, couldn’t figure out how to rotate it!) I found the horn relay, ACC relay, rear window defroster relay, throttle opener relay. im guessing that the ACC relay is the “power relay” I’ve seen referenced? is there a document that shows the physical locations of these relays? car does have an electric fuel pump. I am very interested in locating this one before I REALLY need it! I’ll poke around some more in the resources section for this info. Regards, bob t

Where are the relays in the electrical drawings.
Hello, I’m a new forum member. I recently picked up a nice 73 240Z that I plan to swap in a later turbo motor. I am new to Datsun and Z, but have been working on vintage cars for a long time! my question is: There are several relays mounted at the passenger side kick panel. I cant locate any of these on the electrical drawing I have. See attached. I have looked at several drawings but they are all almost identical. Am I missing a drawing, or a piece? I’d like to ID these relays and understand how they fit into my cars controls. I also have seen mentioned a “power relay”. Where is this on the car, and in the drawings? What does it do? im looking forward to building and improving a great car, and this looks like the place for info and advice! regards, Bob t. ColorWiring240Z-1973-USA-Manual.pdf
