  2. Not to be a D but I think those clear filters are not rated for the higher pressure of fuel injection. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I feel ya, it’s a lot of prep and you are doing it the easy way compared to me. I’ve just been using a vinegar bath and then wire brushing them by hand and repeat if needed. If the pieces were not rusted/pitted much they could probably go straight to the plater but most of mine will need some more work which I have not decided how to tackle yet. I guess it’s Dremmel wire brushing and some hand sanding and steel wool. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I haven’t done a whole lot other than pull and clean things as they come off. The first thing that started it all was a rotten coolant hose going to the air control valve. Oh I’ll just fix this and put it back together, Cleaned it up a little and replaced the nipples with ones from my donor 280zxt parts stash. Then from that to now Of course I had to keep cleaning things up and pulling them. One of my main goals is to paint the engine bay the body color. Never liked being able to see the red and someone else decided to rattle can black what they could while apparently removing nothing. At least it cleans off relatively easy. I’m currently cleaning up and undoing the wiring harnesses. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The area around the ports that looks like it is raised 1-2mm? I would think it would be fine, but maybe there’s an argument that the header has more of a chance to warp. It should give good pressure against the gasket surface around the ports though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Wow, that’s a big difference! That faded red makes it look like it’s covered in rust in the before pic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I wonder if something like locktite would hold that in there well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Was just checking out stockinteriors and ACC’s website at the same time. Same stock photos but stockinteriors has way better prices, at least for the ZX. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I might be wrong, but I’ve come to think that some types of rubber do not like what is in PB Blaster. I think it makes it swell, just a thought. I now just try to avoid getting it on rubber and plastic or wipe it off if I do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’ve got the booster off my 79 right now if you need another reference. Just started inquiring about rebuild kits. Mine is looking pretty rough and is leaking vacuum. Anyone out there that can reproduce stickers for these? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I was just looking back at your paint thread yesterday and was going to ask if you ever had chance to get them mounted up. Glad to hear you were able to get it raised up some and is riding well. Did you go with their standard coil rates? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Wondering if Inline or anyone else knows which other clamps are clear zinc plated. I think my valve cover vent hose clamps were but I’m not positive they were original. Possibly the PCV ones too but they are very hard to tell because of their age. Edit: I guess these could have changed through the years too, mine is a 79 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks for recommending that flare tool, works like a charm. It also doesn’t mar up the outside of the pipe like the old style does. Flair from parts store pipe Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Awesome, thanks! Somehow I missed that one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Who makes that tension rod bushing kit? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Sweet thread!!! Reptoid Overlords how’s the fitment on your car? It looks like you have a 79 or 80ZX. On my 79, the muffler sits there but then the pipe crosses over and exits on the opposite side where there is a cutout in the valance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  21. I’d try some Meguiar’s #7 Show Car Glaze. Really good with old single stage paint, but it can be a work out. https://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/how-to-articles-by-mike-phillips/100613-7-rub-down-technique-mike-phillips.html If you don’t know Autogeek, it’s a great site with tons of good information on detailing and well moderated with friendly people and very little childish BS. I have used the seal tool and the screw method. I think I prefer the screw method more. I always feel like I’m going to mar something up with the seal tool, although I don’t think I have really yet. Not so much with the front edge, but the back that is being forced in and possibly the sides against whatever shaft. With a screw, I typically use a hammer with a block of wood in between and pull on the screw like removing a nail. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I thought they were black but I could be wrong. I have not tried it yet, but I am getting close to to painting a few engine colored parts on my ZX. After reading I believe that Chrysler Corp Blue Engine enamel is a good match for the block without getting a specific can made or ordered. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
