Car idles but dies when I give it gas.
I can check timing again, I checked about a month ago and timing was matching factory. I haven’t checked my fuel pressure, I actually just got a new FPR because Ive been upgrading some parts. Its a factory FPR and was thinking of installing it, and then checking pressure. Haven’t checked valve lash.

Car idles but dies when I give it gas.
I just had the car running, but the other day when I went to start it, it just wouldn’t start. Today I attempted to get it running but to no avail. I ended up getting it to idle healthy, it smells rich but other than that idle is great. But as soon as I give it gas it begins to sputtering and giving front afm backfire. (Adjust the afm to get it to idle by adjusting the fuel mix). 1978 280z Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Best transmission fluid!?
What transmission fluid is best? I have 1978 280z. I made another post about how to remove the infamous fill plug. But never actually asked what fluid to use. I’ve heard good things about redline MT90 but when I look online for it all i find is full synthetic, not sure if thats the right fluid. Any pointers on the best? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Blown head gasket
So the car had been driving fine for a bit, decided to do a spin on a nice day, about 1 hour in on the way back, the car completely shut off and lost power, it wouldn’t turn back on. The only only way to turn it on is by turning the key and pressing the accelerator. It will not go faster than 5 mph. There is not much coolant in radiator, oil level seems okay, didn’t notice any “chocolate milk” although i did check a day after as I had something to do that day. Theres coolant that I can clearly see, I’m not sure if the car blew a gasket or just overheated, I pushed it back home as it was close. In the picture where the little liquid puddle has formed thats the coolant. Any ideas? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Strange taillight issue 280z 1978
Yes, I think a video will be best especially for me who usually needs some visual. There are two options one with a spring and the other with a boot, which do I purchase? I also have a crimping tool but the most basic one, if needed I can go to home-depot and buy a wrench action one. Thank you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Strange taillight issue 280z 1978
The socket is actually semi melted, the two contact points inside the socket are exactly even, one of the contact points if perfect, the other is a little slanted and a bit more in still makes connection though. Any fix for this? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Strange taillight issue 280z 1978
My taillights worked fine until now. The other day I took it out for a spin the right side lights stopped working. I blew both fuses that have to do with brake lights and taillights, replaced and they did not blow. Another bit of info the bottom taillights do not come on, only the brake lights, not sure if the bottoms are for turn signals or emergency lights didn’t check but if someone could explain that would be nice. My issue goes like this: Light off- hit brakes - left brake light comes on- right brake light doesn’t. Lights on- left brake light on -right brake light on- hit brakes- left brake light gets brighter- right brake does not. Thank you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Transmission fluid 280z 1978
Ill go with a regular wrench to assure I don’t break anything, I don’t want more problems thwarting my process or ruining my wallet. Power tools still scare me, just the thought of stripping or breaking anything. Thank you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I luckily own a heat gun, I’ll make sure to heat the bolt prior too removal, a head indiction bolt remover would be nice if they weren’t serval hundred dollars. I will look into getting a good impact socket to fit the transmission bolt, and invest in a larger wrench. Currently I have the most basic set of wrenches and a medium size breaker bar which isn’t much bigger than the 3/4in. When removing the starter bolt I had to add a pipe to the back of the wrench just to get the bolt to turn. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’ve never really trusted them, but I heard they are better for removing bolts than actually tightening, the PO used a impact wrench all over the place. Since everything looked forced and was stripped (starter, radiator, the protective pan under car, bolts in trunk).

I’m not yet super comfortable under the car, its surprisingly heavy for 3200 pounds, but I will definitely give it a nice shake, I actually do have a spare tire it came with. I remember seeing a forum where you could fill from top but I was skeptical. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have jack-stands and a jack but the car has a rusty frame rail which I don’t worsen by putting weight on, so it must be lifted by the tires. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
