  1. Hello all, My instrument panel on my 1973 240z will not light up. It initially went out when my combo switch burnt out, literally smoke coming from the steering wheel. I have since had the switch refurbished but the dash has not come back on. The fuses in the fuse box in the center console look intact. I am not sure if there another fuse I need to look for? Any help is great. Thank you for your time!
  2. Hi guys, I ended up getting a 280Zx distributor from California Datsun. It works some much better than my points, idles so much smoother.
  3. Hello, I bought a Pertonix ignitor 1 and Flamethrower 1 and I am having trouble getting my car to start and have the Tachometer work. I have heard that I don't need my balast resistor and I can splice several of the wires together but I don't remember which ones. In addition I believe I have more wires than I need? Right now I have 1 black, 1 black with white stripe and 1 green with white strike wire not connected to anything? I am sure that is wrong? I have followed the in box pertonix directions. My set up is black wire and red (to the Ignitor) on the Positive side of the coil, on the negative I just have the black to the Ignitor. Thank you very much for your time and help
  4. Hello All, When removing my Datsun 240z 1973 Equalizer, the bolt that connects the Equalizer to the hand brake assembly bent. It appears to be a unique item and I don't see it listen on any of the Z-car shops I know of. I know it is M6 but all the heads I see at Ace hardware are too big to fit into the equalizer. Curious if anyone has had this problem and found a solution. Thank you for your time.
  5. The cable is completely loose and detached from the hand brake, cable is off the Equalizer . I think the cable is seized somewhere.
  6. Attached are photos of the spring on the cable that is too compressed to slide through. two photos of the old cable and one of the new cable. Thank you for your replies
  7. I got all four clips off! However at the wheelbase I am not able to slip the cable through the small side slot, I believe because the spring on the cable is pulled so taught.. prob the reason my E brake was not working haha. Well I think I am gonna cut it, you guys have any suggestions on what to cut it with? Thanks for your time!
  8. Hello all, I am struggling to remove the clips that hold the E-Brake cable, mostly because the rear diff is in the way. The clip itself appears to be original and thus significantly stuck. I am curious if you had any success removing the clip and if so, did you need to remove the rear diff to do so? Im having a hard time getting a lot of leverage under the clip, car is only on stands. Thank you for your time.
  9. Thank you for that info. I did not get a card when I bought the car. So can I take that number and name, and google it to find the specifications? If the cam is stock- will it have Nissan printed in the same place? Thank you
  10. I have a Datsun 240z 1973, when I bought the car I was informed the previous owner may have added a "hopped up cam". Since owning the car I have had issues with rough idle and pinging and I am curious if this some of this could be related to the valve timing. I have not checked the Valve timing but I am not sure that stock numbers will work if the cam was changed from Stock. Curious advice for a Zcar novice. Thank you for your time,

  12. Hello! I have noticed that my E-brake does not work, noticed that when I pull the E-brake lever nothing moves. The cables appear to not move even with everything tightened on the brackets. I am curious how to remove the equalizer bracket so I can place my new E brake cable? Thank you for your time!
  13. Hello, I have a 1973 Datsun 240z, I had the turn signal assembly refurbished and when reinstalling it the horn will no longer work. I noticed the copper arm on front of the assembly so when I press that on the back of the steering wheel the horn works. If I rest it on the back of the steering wheel the horn blares constantly, if I press the center of the steering wheel or not. I assume it is something simple and I am just a noob but I don't know. Any suggestions?
