L28 with four speed for sale
ok, so I wrecked my 76 280 Z, but the motor and tranny are still in good running oder (besides a crack in the vavlve cover where the battery hit it. It's got less than 1k on it, and a new clutch, and I had the tranny gone through, so its real solid. It has all the EFI on it, but you could pull off the intake manifold and do a normal carb. aplication. I wouldnt mind keeping the motor, cuz I know Ill have something to put it in some day, but its just sitting right now and if anyone could use it I wouldnt mind parting with it for some extra money. So I just want to see if there is any interest in this and if there is I could post some pics. I live in hillsboro OR so you could come see it if you're in the area. Let me know if any of you have any interest or questions.

280 to 240
my question is this, how hard is it to take the engine and fuel system out of a 76 280z and put it into a 240z...generaly speaking, I don't know if it will be worth the trouble or not, but I'd like the have the EFI with out the DEQ if you know what I mean. Parker

lifters
thanks for your help. I went through some of the paper work from "crane cams" that came with the order and sure enough, there were the specs I was looking for.

lifters
now that I have my new cam in, I have to adjust the lifters. This probably should have been down a long time ago, but I figure a fresh cam was as good a time as any. Does anyone know what the actual specs are for adjusting the solid lifters on a 71 240z. The only numbers I can ever remember is for a toyota celica, cuz it's seven eleven. If I could just get the proper numbers for this, I should be all set to fire it up. Thanks.

one more cam question
so I just need to know how to set the cam on my 240 Z at top dead center. Long story short, I put a new cam in and forgot where the last one was set on the timing gear, so I just set the motor at TDC and figured I do it from there. Thanks Parker

cam question
ok, So i've only worked on push rod motors thus far, and I've got to put a new cam in my 240 Z. i imagine the overhead cam situation can't be any harder to do, maybe even easier since I don't have to pull the engine. But I'm just curious if there is anything in particulare i should know. I've got the new cam and the springs and the retainers. And this may be a long shot, but I was hoping somebody out there new the torque specs for the job. Thanks to anyone who would like to share their know how with a Z car novice. Parker

carbs and intake?
well, I actually posted my questions on the general forum, but now think it's better to ask them here. So basically I need to know two things. I just got a 71 240 Z and the carbs are pretty much shot (dual two barrel webbers) so I'm thinking I'll just get new ones. But I've heard arguments both ways that the dual webbers aren't the best way to go. So should I just get some SU carbs or something along those lines? I'm not trying to biuld a drag racer, just a fun driver, and I do have a little money to spend. My other question was about my intake manifold. The previous owner took off all the emmisions control and basically cut the rail and pinched off the ends. I'm not sure if this is the best way to go. maybe I should just invest in a new intake manifold since I'll be getting new carbs anyway. So these are my quanderies. Any help would be great. -parker mann

best carb/intake combo ext.
so, this is sort of an extention to my previous question. I just got this 71 240 Z and I'm just learning how to deal with it. The previous owner took all the emisions control out, so the intake manifold has a rail that's just cut and pinched off. I don't really know how good of a set up this is and think maybe I should just invest in a new intake since I'll be getting new carbs any way. Any opnions on this? -parker Mann

best carb/intake combos?
hello out there, I'm not much of an expert on these Z cars and I'm wondering what I should do about my carbs. I have dual webbers right now (two two barrels) and they are totaly shot. So should I just buy new dual webbers, or should i go with SU carbs or something along those lines. I'm not looking for drag race preformance with this car, just looking to have some fun. Any help I can get would be helpfull. -Parker mann
