This one particular thread is what keeps me coming back almost daily. It's not the only reason I visit this site, but it is my favorite thread.

Rear tie down hooks for originality: Yes or no?
Nice find Siteunseen! I see '240 in OZ' even posted a picture of a full set of hooks. I'll have to save that one.

Rear tie down hooks for originality: Yes or no?
I've just started thinking about these as I near closer to completion of my old z. They weren't on when i bought the car in'93, but as I pour over pictures of original early z's, it appears they all still have them in place. Follow up question: Are the rear hooks the same dimensions as the front passenger one?

I think we are also missing one of the comments by the seller that was flagged as "not constructive". That missing comment might have something to do with the reply by craZee "i knew this auction was going to be weird when the seller wrote that he “raised the reserve”. Uh no. You don’t have that option." My guess is that he changed his mind about the 25k reserve.

This beautiful, nicely preserved, later model 1971z went 'reserve not met' @ $98,000 back in 2022. Well, it's back. $25,000 on day one. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-datsun-240z-295/#comments-anchor I'm wondering what BaT allowed the reserve to be this time? I cant imagine they'd let this happen twice.

I had another look at the photo's. Guess I missed those the first time through. Upon closer inspection, I also noticed the poor fitment of the rear quarter patch panel. The paint job and interior look pretty decent though.

Lack of comments/bids on this '73 is deafening: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-datsun-240z-253/

There are 2 kinds of people in this world: Those who use the metric system, and those who went to the moon.- Z's on BAT and other places collection
Beautiful series-one you have there! Does it still have the original wooden steering wheel?- It's Alive!
Amazingly nice work there!- Z's on BAT and other places collection

Welp, it finally happened. Someone reproduced these. If they are as decent as they look, the value of originals just tanked.- Z's on BAT and other places collection
Imagine having your z car stolen, and then seeing it on BaT a few months later! What a story played out in the comments! And some people just kept bidding. I had a motorcycle stolen years ago. I eventually got it back when I saw it in the back of a guy's truck. NOTHING ever happened to the thief as he claimed he bought from "some Mexican".- Resurrected Classics Continues to Impress with new Fenders Hatches and Bumpers!
06/09/2023 I was impressed with the email I received today. Braided hose kit at $380!!! https://resurrectedclassics.com/collections/rubber-plastic/products/datsun-240z-series-1-engine-hose-set-oem-style-braided-master-kit The only other place I could find these at was JDM @ $1100. https://jdm-car-parts.com/products/original-style-engine-bay-hose-set-for-datsun-240z?variant=831357009 I would have paid the $1100 when I got to the engine compartment in my restoration, but this is fantastic to see a competitor come in at nearly 1/3 the cost for these repro's!- Documenting My Original Yazaki Spark Plug Leads

Somebody sloppily pounded a "1" on my 2/70 z too! I like to refer to mine as a "1969 3/2" model year. 😉- Z's on BAT and other places collection
Interesting bit on the value of 1970 vs series one 71's... "Is a 1970 240Z more collectable than a 1971 240Z? As not too many people are fully aware that there are two "Series" involved in the 1971 Model Year cars, for the most part, the answer to that question is YES at the present time. As the Model Year limits the quantity available, the 1970 240Z's will retain more of their value, and will be easier to re-sell over the short term. (three to five years) However, if the Z Cars follow the patterns established by other imported collectibles, then the Series I cars will, as a group, be recognized as the Original Z design... and for the most part the Model Year under which it was titled, will not matter as much as it does today."- Z's on BAT and other places collection

That, I did not know. In my defense, I learned European culture exclusively by watching Mr Bean.- For Sale in the Netherlands: 1972 Datsun 240Z racecar 303 HP and 390Nm.
Cool car, I am surprised to see the steering wheel on the left. I just assumed they were all on the right over there.- Interior shift and E-Brake boot changes.
Looks good! Thx for the pictures. My E-brake boot has a tear in it. So, i ordered a new one off ebay. The placement of the snaps was so poor that i just threw it away. I couldn't stand to look at the wrinkles it created. - 1971 HLS30-14938 "Lily" build
