Help find long lost 240z
Yeah the more he sees them online the more he wants one, I even heard him say it doesn’t have to be the one he had which is one step closer. Once I confirm the real one is never going to happen I’ll get as much info as possible on what it was like and start a new search

Most recent update. Back when he sold it he bought a bricklin sv-1, he took the plate off the 240 and put it on there and I have the vin and purchase agreement for that bricklin. Erie only keeps records for 15 years and my friend ran the bricklin vin and got nothing outside of the current owner no original plate number or anything. We are searching around for pictures hoping that plate is on the bricklin.

There’s only so much you can do since it’s not supposed to be public knowledge I don’t want my friend getting in trouble but yeah if we find the vin or plate we are good

Latest update I talked to my uncle let him know what’s going on, he has no records of the car personally and can’t find a picture but he does have the same Erie insurance now that he had when he had the car. My question is do they keep records that far back?

Got a few updates, was just bs’ing about the car and he ordered one new from the dealer in silver because he thought it was sharp whole story behind it they sold it out form under him that’s how he got the blue one. He loved the blue a lot and somewhat the green but not the most favorite. He has my uncle looking for the vin but very little chance since the month my uncle owned it he got divorced and in a bad accident and didn’t really drive it. He said if he could he search for one and fix it up if it didn’t have rust but i was very pushy on getting the one he had. I found out the wheels that were on it also that he liked so that’s atleast some good news. If we can’t find his I may need assistance finding a somewhat rust free car that could even use alittle work

He had it in highschool so idk if or what is in his name and this was before he met his now wife so she wouldn’t have that. He has most of the paperwork for cars going back to the late 70’s till now, has a whole folder in his cabinet dedicated to his bricklin, mustangs. He even still has his first car 1960 thunderbird with 11k miles and has everything down to light bulbs just not the Datsun for some reason

Every time he talks about it he says how easily they rust he likes blue which his was but also likes black and dark green. So seems like rust is just the biggest thing I feel he’d be fine with even a roller no drivetrain if it had no rust

Fully prepared for that. Even if it made it out of PA it could still be rusted through. If I can’t find the original one or if it’s too rough I’d probably be looking in the used market but that’s in the future

Not sneaking, I told him I’m interested in the car story and would like to know where it’s at since he always talks about it so he wouldn’t have an issue giving info but I’m sure he’s not going to go head over heels to just know where it’s at since all he expects is just what it’s doing vs what I’m actually trying to do. If it gets to a point where we aren’t getting anywhere that’s when I’ll really dig deep on service shops it’s been to and stuff

I would doubt I’m sure he changed insurance since the 70’s but I can ask. I don’t want to ask too many questions because I don’t want him to think I’m trying to buy it

I’m hoping they have it, they sold them back in the day now they are a bmw/jag dealer but same ownership or atleast family. I worked at a dealer I know they kept paperwork but for 50 years? I also don’t want him knowing I’m doing this just incase I find the car and it’s on bring a trailer for 70k lol alittle out of my zone, I’m hoping best case it’s a survivor or in moderate shape so maybe we can fix it up alittle I’m sure he’d enjoy that more than it being pristine

He sold it to my uncle who right away sold it to where I have no idea. I doubt my dad has any info because he was in highschool when he bought it but my uncle was in his 30’s at the time I’m hoping I can find info from him
