Can't find where these panels go????
What are the size of the two pieces? Is it possible that it's the foam that goes on the vent door behind the control panel and in front of the heater core? Probably not because you say it's two identical pieces. Or, what about the inlet & outlet on the heater core where they go outside of the control panel & into the hoses that go back to the engine? These are very small, maybe 2"x2". Nevermind, you said 24"x24".

Are OEM factory fenders still available?
Mine were in the Nissan labled foam covers as well. They had one small ding but lined right up. The shop that's doing my restoration commented to me about how well they & the new hood fit. Per the guy at my Nissan dealer, they're not shipped in boxes from the Dist Ctr to the dealer. Upon ordering, I was told to expect a couple of dings too. It doesn't mean they're junk, they may require a small amount of body work. I wouldn't fret over it.

Are OEM factory fenders still available?
I'm glad I got mine six months ago. I just called my local Nissan dealer & he said they were on backorder but they will be available again in the future. I told him that another dealer said that they are NLA & I was told that was incorrect, & he reiterated to me that they will be available in the future. I certainly can't back that up, I'm just relaying the message. Whatever you do though, don't waste your time &/or money with the aftermarket ones. I've seen them come close to fitting on one car & way off on another.

"OK" decal sticker on the passenger quarter window
Banzai Motorworks To find a pic follow the link. Go to "CATALOG" & then to "decals stickers & id plates." I can't say exactly where it goes because I've seen them on the driver side, passenger side, but not necessarily both. I'd be interested in knowing as well.

dash repair
I'll use a little less sarcasm & be more polite than was posted above & say that if you try to use bondo it would be terrible. In fact, it would probably look better WITH the cracks than with the bondo job. A full cap sounds logical but if that's not what you want & you can't afford to fork out several hundred dollars to have the dash redone, you are probably stuck.

Replacing bolts......
Have you tried zcarcreations.com? I bought several bolt kits from them & have been satisfied to date.

72 240 z choke control knob wanted
Really? Like the one in the pic from Courtesy? I'd like for you to send me links to at least two in the past month. The problem is, I don't think you can. And so if it's a new part for less than $15 anyway, do you really expect to pay less buying a used one from Ebay? Come on guy, that's not reality.

72 240 z choke control knob wanted
The earlier choke knob is prevalent on Ebay, the one that is compatible for the '72 is not. That is not to say that they have never been sold there, just that for about $10 shipped, who cares about the "fullness of time?"

72 240 z choke control knob wanted
Is this what you're talking about? If so, you likely won't find one on ebay, unless you have a 70-71 & they're on there all of the time. Choke Knob

Starting body work soon, looking to do black trim....
How did those fenders fit Jared? If you don't find a hood up where you're at I have my 240 hood & I have a friend that has a 280 hood with the louver slots that are in good shape.

Changing original paint color - Bad idea?
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but there is no indication on the VIN that says exactly what color it was when it left the factory. Therefore, if he decided to do a true "restoration", he would only have to change the color of the car from dookey brown to another original 240Z color, say Silver 901. This would include painting every square inch of the car, inside and out, to the Silver 901. It is understood that someone is not willing to go to the expense and trouble of doing this, but if done (at about 35k later) and everything else is replaced back to the original specs, the new color would not be an issue.

You might want to get a Factory Service Manual as well.

Best quality and price for foam seat inserts?

AM Fender tale of woe....
About two weeks before Christmas I was looking for a pair of new fenders as well. I had already went the VB Taiwan route & spent about $400 after shipping. I decided to go to my local Nissan dealer & gave them part numbers 63100-N4700 & 63101-N4700. I had them less than a week later. They wanted about $250 apiece for them. I get a 20% discount with my car club membership & both fenders ended up costing me about $425 after tax. I also bought a new hood from the dealer. I put them on last night to see how well they would fit. Let me tell you, I put on the fenders & hood, & with only a few tugs of the hinges was able to line everything right up. It took me about 15 minutes to get both seams to line up great.

Fuseboxes on Ebay
I sold one on Ebay about two weeks ago for something like $15. It was on there for about an hour before someone bought it. After seeing that guy's description of "Perfect", I should have labeled mine as "better than NOS, better than new, a 12 out of 10", & tried to sell it for $100!

Wow! Set of 4 "D" Wheel Covers for $1,247.00!!
I definitely lucked up finding the one I did. I have heard stories of certain people having boxes of them stashed. I don't necessarily believe it either but I wouldn't doubt if there's a place or two with some rare parts on a shelf somewhere.

Wow! Set of 4 "D" Wheel Covers for $1,247.00!!
Just getting back to the hubcap portion of the post, I must say that I am surprised as well. I bought a NOS "D" hubcap on Ebay back on August or so for $42. I was skeptical about buying it but I put a max in there for $50, thinking I could keep it as a collectible. When I got it, it had a scrape around the lip of the "D" & I was disappointed to say the least. About a week later I decided that I shouldn't have bought it & put it back on Ebay to try & recoup some of my money. I started it a $9.99 & surprised to have turned $42 into $330 before expenses. I explained the scrape in the auction & took a half dozen pics before I got it to show up (it tended to blend in). This was the first of the NOS hubcaps that started showing up & the profit bought me $250 worth of new parts for my '72. Since I already have about 85% of the parts I need for my extremely thorough "refresher", let them go ahead & go up in price.

New 260Z 280Z Euro Taillights
Taillights are new in the Nissan boxes. Located in Atlanta, GA. Price is $350/neg. I would prefer a US seller but may ship internationally.

Obscene shipping costs
Actually Gary, I haven't noticed anywhere where Ebay says you can't charge any type of fee. If you could provide a link to it I'd be interested in seeing it. And you may call it a "small fee" but those small fees can add up to a lot. If seller doesn't want to pay the fee, & it's disclosed before you agree to purchase the item, what's the problem with that? Either you agree to pay the already disclosed fees or you don't. If they're trying to get you to pay the "small fee" & it wasn't disclosed, then that's a different matter. But if it's such a "small fee", why would you care? Just go on & pay it.

OEM-surplus.com
I don't know about their clogging up ebay. But yeah, if you go to their pricing policies section it's very vague but explains that their prices are anywhere from 40% to 90% off. Maybe the price depends on the weather, I don't know. I think what they have on thier website is all they have left. I ended up getting my two new door glass for about $100 total with everything from them. I would consider a wiring harness from them but I'm not sure which one I'd need.
-
OEM-surplus.com
How much did you pay for the Air Pump? I'm looking at this guy's site now & the MSRP for one is $547, which means he would likely sell it to you for about $250. I have no idea as to how much one could get them elsewhere.

OEM-surplus.com
I bought my 240Z NOS driver & pass door glass from them. Despite the handling charges the overall price was good considering it was the only place I could find new door glass. They let me know when it was shipped & gave me a tracking number. No problems here.

NOS D hubcaps going crazy...
It's the same group of about four people who are bidding on them.
