Loooong time ago JC Whitney had them I do not know if they do now you can check.
  2. The hard part for me is the wiper motor for a 240
  3. Thank you guys its very interesting your answers. Steve thank you for your information, I always wonder if anybody did a dyno test. well I do not race but I will sure go back to the original set up. Thanks again
  4. Last time I asked a question about the intake manifolds 240 vs 260 and I did not get a clear answer. My question now is air horns. The 240 air filter assembly comes with 2 air horns, well a lot of us took that out and put on K&N or WEIAND air filters to get better performance... did we really? has anybody tested the difference? performance economy etc. I have K&N filter now but MSA has air horns and claims performance gains, so I am wondering if I would get better top end or mid range performance one or two horses but I would use the old filter assembly.:stupid:

The petronix is compact, but you see the little isues, with the Crane you can leave it on, it will rev very nice and it will compesate for the worn out shaft. I Had mine 15 years with no problem at all, when I bought it it was call Allison Ignitions. The only thing is the black box, at least is small not like the MSD, talking about MSD when I used it the Tac quit working.

I heard very good things about petronix, but the most praise is how simple is to put on. I recomended to a friend for his VW bug and we had problems well after a month and call to petronix we founf the problem they send us the wrong rotor for the aplication. You stated that your car was missing at high RPM is that correct? because if it started at all then you conected every thing right, it may be the wire from the coil to the cap, or your coil is bad. see that is not leacking oil. I use Crane it used to be call Allison once you put on you will never have to worry about the timing even if your Dizzy is worn out.
  7. Here is my oppinion, the car is old , make it safe first brakes, struts bushings etc, then ask the question how this modification is going to change the car power economy. You can spend a lot money on performance parts and not have a good motor, to me a good runing fresh motor is best, while doing the motor you can change the cam for a mild one, change the injectors or make sure your old one are in good working order, remeber the car is old and is going to need parts that wear out. Bee n a young person Iam sure you want to have it as a daily driver so you can show it of, make it look good, a lot of your friends will admire the car for what it looks like than for its speed. And remeber ... this is what I tell my son it is a sport car not a race car. Enjoy you Z

Back in the old days every body used auto-matic oil I even heard 3 in 1, A few years ago there was a good article on one of the site ( I can not remeber what site it was ) but they stated that the best oil is 20W, I live in the outh and I can not get the 20W so I use auto-matic oil. My personal experience with the 3 bolt is that if you want to change the needle seat or jet is not as easy as the 4 bolt also the disk on the bottom is to thin for my fingers. I was just educated by B Palmer about water on the base, there is so much to know. By the way Z theraphy carbs are great.

My question wich one is better? For years I was under the impression that the 260 intake was bigger and better that it would give you better performance. But now I was told there is not difference. To be honest I put them next to each other and it did not looked bigger. Can you guys educate me on this please. Thank you:stupid:
  12. These are some ideas not cures ok. Torque the head again. Perhaps add a little bit of oil on the low cylinders and check compression see if it changes, some times the valves do not close all the way. vacumm leacks. I wish I was a mechanic to give you good advice I know is depressing specially when everything was working fine.

Years ago my friend and I had a 260 we were fixing it to sale, all I can tell you is that you will need 240 and 280 parts and some are just plain 260 parts like the gas tank.
  14. The 240 is balance well with out the rear bar, the springs did the job if you put a rear bar I do recomend to put a bigger front bar, and yes many times the frame separates because is spot weld, any body shop or even a mufler shop will reinforce that section. I had two 240 that they separate at the mounts , easy to fix. But the car needs to be balance with front and rear bars and if you want to get technical springs and struts. ask the people here what a joy is to derive a well balance car

I have owen Z since they came out , at first I used Castrol 30W then 20/50 , the last ten years I have used Mobil 10/30 Synthetic now here lately I have read about Zic how much old cars need it . Clasic motorsports has an add by Penn Grade high performance oil and they state they have the zinc aditive. I have not used it but I am going to try it out next oil change if it does not cost that much. here is a link. www.bradpennracing.com

no , not the pumper but the grile

First, they are two types of brackets 70 to 72 and then the 73. what What I usually did was to put a 240 grile and another one upside down and it looks good. You can also put some small blinker lights round or square.
  18. I have been involve with the s30 since they came out and I have never seen a metal tray, I have several plastics trays if you want a use one. Mario Mcamps228@aol.com
