The choke does move when Move the lever, it is stiff, but I think it is OK. Could it possibly not be going to the full choke position? maybe. How would I check this? As far as how long I crank it. Sometimes I had to crank it until the battery died with no success. I have learned now that starter fluid does the trick so I start it that way. what do you think

My 240z has dual weber carbs. I can not start it without starting fluid, but it starts easiy and then will restart without a problem with no starting fluid. does this sound like a problem with the carbs or something else?

I have discovered, if I use a few sprays of starter fluid, the car starts right up, and then will restart easily after that. I can see that fuel is coming out of the carb, but I can not figure out why it will not fire up without starter fluid. Does this sound like the webber carbs are not working, does it sound like the choke? Any help would be appreciated. Zover, 73 240Z

My 73 240z takes a while for me to get it to fire up. Once I have started it, it will start again effortlessly. I try to play with the choke and have not been able to figure out why it is so difficult to start. It does not seem to be related to the weather. It has new plugs, new gas filter, new battery. What can I do to figure out this problem? Thanks Zover

any suggestions on header and full exhaust systems for a 73 240z. I saw some at Motor sport Auto. What is the difference between a 6-2 verses a 6-1 headers. And what size pipe should I get? 2.5 inch? Any special coating? Zover

Where is a good place to looks for replacement seats for a 73 240z. The driver's seat seems to be full of mold or the stuffing is simply coming out in a very fine tan powder. Only the driver seat is a problem. About how much would it be to get it redone compare to buying two newer, more comfortable seats. Zover

Anyone know what is going on? My 73 Z is acting up. When I use the turn signal, the exterior lights go on but they do not flash. The arrow signals inside do not light up. The hazards still work fine. Any ideas. Zover

What are these? My father-in-law gave me this car(73 240z). He unfortunately sustained a brain injury and can not tell me anything about the car. He put a dual webber carb on and now there are three hoses hanging off of the engine. I assume they used to connect with the old are filter. All three have similar connectors. Can anyone help me out. Should I connect them to something? Should I plug them? I tried to attach pictures of what I am talking about. Also does anyone know how much increase in horsepower dual webbers add to a stock 1973 240z. Thanks FLO

I just trailored my father-in-law's (now my) 1973 240z home. It was last started in 1993. It was mechanically sound at that time. He was the original owner and the car has 50K miles. I have been told different things as far as what I should do to get the car running. Anything from put in a new battery and see if she starts to drain all the fluids, including taking off the gas tank, replace all the hoses and pull the spark plugs and put a light oil in overnight to lubricate things. The last thing I want to do is screw anything up, but I also dont want to do things which are not indicated. Also I will need to get new tires, what are good tires for this car? Zover
