I dont think that I am off on the timing chain. I had both the timing marks on the right side and both camshaft keys and crankshaft keys pointing up. It took me quite a while to get the timing right. I will probably end up doing what dans240z is talking about. Thanks guys for the info.

I really dont have a clue. I took the whole engine apart and rebuilt the engine, new bearings and everything else, so that is why I am asking. I had to buy a new head, new timing chain ( alot of moneys spent ). But when I put the oil pump back in, I did what the FSM said to do but ended up wrong or right I dont know. The rotor points to the #1 spark plug though, I mean it is right on the money. Shane

In my factory service manual it says to put the engine at top dead center and align the holes on the oil pump and the hole on the gear rod. It says when it is right the bell on the distributor gear will be at 11:25 but mine is at 1:35 and the rotor points exactly at the #1 spark plug, should I leave it or am I doing something wrong. :paranoid: Thanks in advance

Well I finally got everything back together on the engine and was getting ready to put the tranny back on to stab the engine back in, when I found out that the tranny cover (behind flywheel) I had for my automatic doesnt work for a manual tranny :stupid: . Well now I am in need of that plate if someone may have one that I can buy please let me know!

I have had my fill of people on ebay, I sold a gameboy with four games (I know I am a big kid) the gameboy was a month old and I sold it for a 128.00 dollars, but the guy wanted it overnight to Canada well it reached him/her 10 days later so I get this email from paypal saying that they paid with a stolen credit card, after I sent the item to them (him/her). I paid bills with the money they paid me and went paypal overdrawn because they got there money back and they wanted the 70.00 dollars it cost for shipping. So I didnt get the money for ther gamesboy and they screwed me for another 200.00 dollars for my bank account. I dont know how they did it but they did. I wrote ebay about that and they never replied.

I bought an N-47 head off of this guy, when I got the head the cam had fallen out along with all the rockers and lash pads. The cam had smashed the bearing towers and I had to get a new cam and use my old bearing towers. The holes for the coolant flow were all covered up with the material they use to fill in cracks or whatever and they never redrilled the holes after resurfacing it. I didnt know it was the same guy until you said something.

I live about five hours away from him, but I cant afford that after all the money I put into my motor, right now im up to 2000.00 into it :surprised .

Yeah on mine there is six wires down there for the automatic tranny inhibitor switch. I will look tomorrow when I get over there for the green wires thanks guys. Shane

Does anyone know which wires on the chassis (where the tranny hooks up to) is the wires for the reverse lamp switch. Thanks

I am having a problem figuring out which motor mount goes where. I am not actually talking about the motor mounts but the part that attaches to the engine. I know I should have marked them but I didnt think they were any different until I tried to put them back on. Could someone please help and thanks

Kenz, I will look into that when I get the flywheel on. Does anyone know how to prime the oil system on these cars, on my nova all I had to do was turn the distributor drive gear inside the distributor mount. Thanks for all the help guys it is greatly appreciated. Shane

Just another question, when putting the clutch and pressure plate on the flywheel, is there a certain way the pressure plate aligns with the flywheel, everything is brand new, so I have no idea. Another really stupid question, :stupid: . What type of fluid do I use for the manual tranny :nervous: . Thanks Shane When putting the oil pump on, does the links on the timing chain have to be lined up or can I just put it on with the #1 piston at top dead center and the #1 exhaust\intake valves closed. The bushing\bearing that goes into the crankshaft, is it suppose to be just a round thing or is it suppose to be a bearing because there is no bearings in it and how far in the crankshaft does it go? What about the plate that is a press fit on the end of the crankshaft it is about a 1/8" of an inch thick and portrudes over the bolt holes, does that stay on or no. Thanks for the help. Shane

I am still in the process of my auto to 5 speed swap and am kinda stuck. I bought a new clutch kit and it has a little round thing I think is a pilot bushing does it go in the end of the crankshaft? On the end of the crankshaft there is a cap that goes over the back of it I had to pull to change the rear main seal do I leave that on for the swap or do I take it off. Also there is a spacer that was behind the flexplate for the automatic I assume that I dont need to install that on when putting the flywheel on right. Sorry about all the questions, but I am new to this. Shane

It is a 280z, I put a different throttle body on it and dont know what to do about the valve cover outlet now. It went to the throttle body. Thanks for the reply.

I know how anal these cars are about air leaks and such, I was just wondering if I put a breather filter on the valve cover outlet would it make the car run bad or will the idle stay the same. I was thinking it would be like taking off the oil cap while the car is running. Thanks

Never mind about the fuel injection question, it got answered in the fuel injection forum. I will look into the permatex ultra grey. Thanks for the replys and help guys.
