That is what the assembly looks like that is already in my car it has the hook up for the spring on top and a threaded hole for the bolt that holds the clutch pedal, yeah mine looks exactly the same except for there is no clutch pedal arm . How about you just send the arm with the bolt and the round thing that goes around the bolt and the spring and I will send you 20.00. Thanks for the pics.

Also about that 5 speed swap. I still need to know if I have to get a manual starter or can I just use the auto starter. Thanks again

Well you know I dont really know which one I am going to get yet, I have plenty of time to think about it. Right now I am in the process of getting all my parts together for the 5 speed swap and when I pull the engine is when I am going to get the cam. I am also going to put in that 60mm 240sx throttle body after I get the intake shaved for it. Has anyone ever used one of these rebuild kits, I was trying to post a pic of a japanese brake kit but it didnt work, I Have two of them and cant read it to see if it is one kit for two calipers or if is for just one caliper per kit.

Is there a higher lift cam that I can put in the 280z without changing the rocker arms valve springs lash pads ETC. I know motorsportz has a few but I dont know if they will work with the stock setup and they want 550.00 for the whole setup . Thanks

Turlock is in CA. I am not sure what it is worth but how does $40.00 sound for it and shipping. Please post a pic of it and maybe a pic of where the bolts are under the dash, I found the four bolts that are on the firewall but couldnt find the ones under the dash. Thanks for the response. I did not get the flywheel from the 79, it had some spider cracks in it. I was going to get a flywheel for my 78. I would love to get a racing style clutch kit but for now I just want to get stock to get use to the shifting. I found a flywheel for about 50.00 at kragen, so I am just going to go with that.

I went to pick and pull today to add to my collection of tranny swap parts and I tried to get the flywheel and the clutch pedal arm and springs. I could not figure out how to get the pedal arm off, I just need the arm and whatever else is hooked to it like the neutral safety switch and what nots. If anyone can give me some advice on how to get it out or if they have an extra arm with no rust and take paypal please let me know. Also I got a 5 speed tranny from a 1979 280zx and it has back seats does this mean it is a 2+2 and if I buy a clutch kit do I have to buy one for a 2+2 or do I just buy the 1978 clutch kit. Thanks

I just went and got a 5 speed tranny from a 1979 280zx. I know that I will need the flywheel, clutch kit, master cylinder, slave cylinder. I have a slave cylinder hose on its way. Do I need the starter and the driveshaft or can I just use the auto driveshaft. Any other things that I will need, please let me know. Thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply, yeah I just went and bought a hoist and stand from kragen and it was a set for 129.99, but didnt find out that it was a stand with only one leg and no extensions coming off the leg for support until after I bought it :eek:

I just called an air conditioning shop and he told me it would cost around 200.00 to refill and do all sorts of tests on the car to make sure it would run smooth. Came to find out that the only ports on my Z are the ports on the back of the commpressor and I called kragen and they said that I will have to find the ports that are on the A/C lines, there is no ports on the A/C lines! :surprised . There is suppose to be high and low side ports is what the guy at kragen was saying so I dont know. What comes with the kit is One 12 ounce can of R-134a refrigerent, 2 12 ounce cans of R-134a Oil charge for retrofit which includes Leak stop and Leak detector, Three R-134a service port adaptors for 1977 and newer vehicles, One R-134a charging hose and instructions but not very helpful instructions.

Has anyone on this site ever tried this retrofit kit to change the refrigerent type. I just bought a Castrol cool air kit that has everything but I wanted to see if anyone has done it before I even ettemp too Thanks

Does anyone have page EF-54 from the 78 280z service manual on cdrom or the book. I have the service manual but it is a copy of the book on a cheap cdrom and it doesnt have the test for the cold start valve in it. Mine only goes up to page EF-48 how many more pages am I missing. Thanks

I just bought this thottle position sensor off of ebay and wondering if this will work on the 240sx throttle body. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7982281295 Also for the #5 injector I was talking about in the last post. Would that cause the fuel pressure to go down, everytime I go to start it it doesnt have any fuel pressure or it takes a long time to start I have to let the pump run for a few to get it to start. Thanks for the reply. For that AFM adjustment, I will have to change my #5 injector because it isnt shooting right. I was going to do that when I get the intake off to polish it for the larger throttle body. I will see what happens when I get it back together. Thanks for all the help guys

I have another question for yaall, did you do this mod with the stock computer and the stock AFM or did you have a different fuel injection computer? Is there anyone who has done this mod with the stock ECU and the stock AFM. Thanks in advance

You know, I swear I am such a dumb a-s sometimes, I didnt think to even look at that. You are talking about the small screw that has a nut on it :stupid:. Thanks for bearing with me on this. What about those inlet and outlets for the coolant did you just remove those. And what is the best way to modify the linkage just take off the cruise and the throttle and put the 280z one on there or do I have to cut it and rethread it. I found a 34.95 spacer for it on ebay also and just got it yesterday its awesome. I just need to figure out how to shave the intake . Thanks for helping out
