I started 9th in qualifying and finished with the 9th fastest time. The good news is that I was 2 seconds faster than in July's race! Jeff qualified 2nd in his 240Z. The race was intense from the start. There were about 14 cars in our ITS class and a couple behind me got a really good start. A red 2nd gen RX-7 and Mark's orange 240Z passed on my left. I couldn't hang with them and they continued to pick their way through. I battled off and on with two 325iSs, an early 1970s 911, a 2nd gen RX-7 and some lapped traffic from other classes. After a lot of work I got by the 911 and I think one of the BMWs. I knew there weren't many laps left so I had to make a move soon on the black Bimmer. Going into turn 1 I braked late and the pedal went to the floor. Yikes! I moved to the inside and he gave me room but then he pulled away. I tried to cool the brakes to make another run but it was going to happen. I finished 9th and I beat a couple cars that out-qualified me. Mark, after adjusting to cam timing, ended up 4th and Jeff was 2nd. It was a pretty good day for the early Z-cars. And I took another half second off my fastest time! Chuck
