  1. Exactly. And if you make the front bar too big you'll get understeer. You have to find that balance. Maybe someone can comment on the kits that are sold. I'd imagaine that the bars are matched for good handling? Chuck
  2. Nothing wrong with having both. Adding strut bars would be near the bottom of my list though. Make sure other parts are in good order first such as shocks, springs, ball joints, tie rods, brakes, etc. Chuck
  3. I've heard that many times but I don't know how different (if at all) it can be. The transmission, trans mounts and seats can be swapped between cars so the tunnels can't be too much different. Know what I mean? Chuck
  4. Like hls30 said, there are kits out there. But the cheapest and easiest way would be to get a 280ZX turbo engine (and upgrade to the 5-speed) setup and drop it in. I did that to my early 260Z and it wasn't that hard. Here's a pic... Chuck
  5. That should work if you use the matching 280Z frame rails. It might take a little massaging where the floor meets the trans tunnel. A little hammer and dolly work will fix that. Chuck

Do NOT put in any seam sealer. You don't want anything interfering with the welds. The welder will need clean (no rust, no paint, no sealer, etc.) metal for welding. Good luck! Chuck

Sounds good! If you or anyone else is interested I'll be racing at Summit Point Sep 1-3. Look for the #0 and #00 white 240Zs near pit entrance. I can probably get 1 or 2 of you in for free as part of my crew but you'll have to let me know in advance. We're all packed up and headed to Virginia Beach. Everyone have a good weekend! :-) Chuck

And the big ones... Here are 5 of my 6 Zs. The white Z is #390. The Z that's missing is my first car. It's a 1975 280Z that I bought in 1986. Chuck

Here's a Micro Machines set and a bump-n-go Fairlady 240ZG. I have a bunch of Hot Wheels, Matchbox and other little cars somewhere. Chuck

I have 3 Franklin Mint cars and a whole bunch of other stuff. Here are pictures of some of the toys...uh...collectibles. Chuck

You can hook up a timing light to see if it's firing. Chuck

It won't hurt the value much and it sounds like you intend to keep the car so build it your way. You can always have it repainted silver. No biggie. Chuck

Doesn't the 280ZX 2+2 use remote levers with cables? Something like that might work. Chuck

Remove the fender, hood and cowl for us. A frame shop might be able to pull a lot of that out. The radiator support, LF inner fender and LF frame rail might need to be replaced. I'd like to see more pictures before scrapping the car. It _can_ be fixed but like Larry said it might not be practical. Chuck

The poly bushings work better. Chuck

I'd put oil in there anyway. What's it gonna hurt? I have a nice front strut assembly sitting in my garage. It's currently unusable because there's a strut insert stuck inside the non-oiled tube. Grrr... Chuck

I agree. I rebuilt the 440 6bbl for my Road Runner but used a working Holley 4bbl to break in the engine. Chuck

Why not go with fuel injection? Chuck

Maybe someone put a 280Z rack in your car? I'll try to measure the opening for the bushing on mine today. Chuck

I recently installed urethane rack bushings in my 240Z race car and neither side was difficult to install. And I did it with the engine in the way. I remember the right side being trickier than the left for me. Chuck

Sounds like you have 240Z rack bushings installed in a 260Z/280Z. Chuck

It's not worth it. Just put in some good struts and drive it. Chuck
