  1. Has anybody seen prices on 1969 240Z project cars? I have a chance to get one but it has the usual rust, fender flares and vents cut into the hood. I'm trying to find out just how bad the rust is but I assume it needs floors and rockers. It's missing the correct steering wheel, seats, underhood plastic fresh air ducts, wheels, hub caps and I'm sure a few other things. Oh, the engine and trans are gone and in their place is an L28 and 5-speed. The seller doesn't remember the exact number of the car but it's around 490. What do you think it's worth? Chuck
  2. That should be a 0 offset. I have a15x7 0 offset with 225s on my race car and it doesn't rub. I'm running coil overs and rolled fender lips but 205s should clear everything on a stock Z. Chuck
  3. $55 shipped. If noone is interested then I'll post it on other sites tonight. Chuck
  4. Lowering to $75 shipped. Chuck
  5. I would order one for a 1970/71. Chuck
  6. I don't have one for this ash tray. All I have is what's in the picture. I think one like this sold on ebay a while ago for around $100. Chuck
  7. This is a 69-71 series 1 ash tray/fuse box cover. There's a crack on the right side that goes diagonally through the "S" in "FUSE". I'm not sure what it's worth so I'll start with $100obo shipped. Feel free to make an offer. Email is the best way to contact me. Chuck cbuczesk@comcast.net
  8. "Datsun" hatch emblems 1-5 are $15ea shipped and 6-10 are $10ea shipped. 2+2 quarter panel emblems are $15ea shipped. 1-6 are left side and 7-12 are right side. 2+2 hatch emblem is $15 shipped. Chuck cbuczesk@comcast.net
  9. A guy in our car club had a black 1967 Plymouth GTX that had "NEVER SEEN RAIN NOR WASHED WITH WATER!" Before I bought my Pantera I asked the seller if the seals leaked. He paused for a bit and said he didn't know. He never washed it or drove it in the rain. In this case I think it's because the restoration is fairly recent. The car looks good. Remind me of the one I'm building now. Very similar color. Chuck
  10. What are the differences between these and the better ones? Chuck
  11. What? Fake bids? On ebay??? Say it ain't so! Anyway, the black Z appears to be built to much higher standards than the BRE-type car. Chuck
  12. I've used Zedd Findings floors and frames several times. They fit well and are easy to install. Based on your pictures you'll need their floor/frame kit. Last time I checked he also made the front frame rail and I think also the angled rail at the T/C rod. Those pieces look ok on your car. But you have some serious rust on the inner fenders and battery tray area that will have to be fixed. I've never used the Bad Dog parts but I've heard good things about them. Chuck

You can put them in the bore and see if they fit. Maybe someone put the correct rings in the wrong box. But odds are that you'll have to get 40 over rings. Chuck

Thanks. I love my Datsuns! I also have a BMW 2002tii, 2002 turbo, Pantera, supercharged Lotus Elise and V-code Road Runner. Now how do you feel? Anyway, sounds like something isn't right at SUCarbs. Do we have any members near Wichita? Chuck

If you went to the parts counter back in the day and got an air cleaner it was blue. I have one as a spare. Chuck

Joe Curto is the guy my brother has had come to Carlisle to do seminars on the SU carbs. Here's his site: JOE CURTO, INC. Chuck

Do you know any good Z racers in your area? The good ones can help you out with the carbs. Just messing with you. I sent a text to my brother to see what he knows. He knows a lot of the British car guys. Are you interested in just that company or are looking for an SU expert? I know that my brother does know an SU expert and has had him come to Carlisle to speak. Chuck

    Any news? Chuck

Hmmm...I guess it could be a loose bushing or missing rack clamp on the right side. Drive carefully! Chuck

If the ball joint lost some bolts or is severely worn then that could be the culprit. There aren't too many things that it can be. I wish I was closer so I could have a look. Chuck

Take some pictures for us. Maybe something will jump out. If the wheel turns side to side then it's probably the tie rod or rack. Make sure the two bolts holding the steering knuckle to the strut assembly are present and tight. I had them come loose on my race car. I noticed a vibration/shimmy at 100mph and above. I broke a TC rod on my street Z. I noticed a clunking from the front and some funky steering. Grab the top of the tire and pull back and forth to see if it moves in and out. Get another set of eye to look around while you move the wheel. If it's moving that much it should be obvious. Chuck

Hood and C-pillar emblems are the same. The 1974.5 260Z has the same bumpers as the 75-76 280Z. There may have been some different paint options too. Chuck

1977-78 280Zs have the vented hoods. The vents weren't just added. That area was stamped for the vents which bolt in. Chuck
  24. Dwight from The Office drove a 280Z early in the series IIRC. After that he was in a Camaro. Chuck

That's tempting but probably a little too far for me. Where and when is it? Chuck
