  1. I'm with Zed Head on just adding fluid. Might as well try that first. I've swapped diffs many times and might swap one later today. It's pretty quick and easy to put the car on 4 stands and use a jack to lower the diff out. I leave the mustache on the car. The biggest pain is the half shaft nuts. Chuck
  2. The show and swap meet run from Friday through Sunday at the Carlisle Fairgrounds in Carlisle, PA. I have vendor spaces F78-82. Look for the Datsun flags, tons of Datsun parts and maybe a couple Zs for sale. 3. Jeff Lucas and I will be there in our usual vendow spaces F78-82. Look for the Datsun flags, tons of Z parts and maybe a Z or two for sale. The East Coast Z Club has 2 vendor spaces to use and as of now nobody is using them. They are FREE if you register to show a car as part of the "East Coast Nationals" club! If anyone here has Z parts to sell contact Ed edb@carlisleevents.com and he'll hook you up. Chuck
  4. You sure can! You can register when you arrive, call to register or you might still be able to register online. EVERYONE - Please choose East Coast Z Nationals for your club! Carlisle provides a tent to clubs based on the number of cars your club brings. To avoid waiting in line I suggest calling to register ASAP 717-243-7855. They will be there today and tomorrow because the Performance and Style show is in progress. On-line registration: 2013 Carlisle Import & Kit Nationals KIT Showfield Chuck
  5. I have no connection to that company. I did a bunch of research, got a bunch of quotes and they were about the lowest priced but still had a good reputation. Good luck! Chuck
  6. If UT to PA is $800 shouldn't West TX to LA be about half of that since it's half the distance? I think it'll be closer to $450. Chuck
  7. I used this company to transport a 510 wagon from Utah to Pa. It was about $800. They were about the cheapest shipper I could find and were very quick! They were ready to pick up the car in just a day or two. It took about a week to transport it. Exceptional Auto Transport LLC 855-561-2886 info@exceptionalautotransport.com Chuck
  8. As some of you know my brother is the event manager for this show. He said that he has an open space in one of the buildings to display a car. It can be any kind of import or kit car but it must be a very nice looking car. If you're interested or know someone who's interested please let me know. The show is May 17-19 at the Carlisle Fairgrounds. Here's a pic of my 260Z turbo when it was displayed there. Chuck cbuczesk@comcast.net
  9. I'd be happy to help and could always use some help but I'm down it Chambersburg, Pa. Anybody want to help install a headliner and the glass in a 1971 510 wagon? ;-) Chuck
  10. FYI...It takes 40 hours start to finish to replace the floors and frames. Post some pictures so we can see how bad it looks. Chuck
  11. I agree. I think the slave rod needs to be adjusted. I have an 82 ZX trans in my 72 and the rod is somewhere in the middle. I just replace my slave a couple days ago. Chuck
  12. I'm a bike rider/racer so I have lots of old tubes and use them for all kinds of things on the car. I just used one for the bumper to body insulator on my 510 wagon. Chuck
  13. That's great news! :-) See if the shop has some washers/spacers. Take your parts with you! Chuck
  14. Both look good. Keep both and change them now and then just to mix it up. I think lowering it just 1" would do a lot for its stance. Chuck
  15. I think that bracket is welded on. You'll have to carefully flex the plastic panel to clear it. I always hate removing that panel. It always seems like it's going to snap! Good luck with the project! :-) Chuck
  16. Maybe take some calipers and measure the tube to see if/where it's out of round? Can you press down on the nut while you thread it on? Chuck
  17. Was the strut in the tube when you were tightening the nut? Any chance the nut was tight against the strut? Maybe there's something in the bottom of the tube that's raising the strut so the nut tightens sooner on that strut? Have you tired to thread the nut without having the strut installed? It might be easier with that out of the way. Another option is to have a shop chase the threads. Chuck
  18. Pull a plug wire or coil wire and check for spark. Sounds like electrical to me. Chuck
  19. Go with a stock clutch and save some money. You might want to replace the throwout bearing too. I made an L bracket out of 1/8" steel to hold the flywheel while I loosed the bolts. I drilled a hole in the bracket to slide one of the trans-to-engine bolts through it and bolted it to the block. It's not tight on the block. The short part of the L sticks in the flywheel teeth. You can use it to tighten the bolts too. Chuck
  20. +1 Many years ago I autocrossed on street tires. The next time I used my friend's old Yoko A008Rs. I was relatively 5 seconds a lap faster with the A008Rs. And that was in the rain! Chuck
  21. Over the winter I put my "new" 240Z race car on the rotisserie and rebuilt it so it's kind of a new car. I also bought an original paint 1971 510 wagon from out west. Chuck
  22. I was hoping someone else would pop in here and agree with me. I'm seeing that 73-78 is bigger. I bet you can find the answer on HybridZ. Hmmm...I have a 1972 240Z and I think the booster is the bigger style. I'll look at it when I get home. Chuck
  23. The later 240Z boosters are bigger, right? Chuck
  24. Great! Nissan is bringing a real BRE 510. We'll be bringing a few truckloads of parts and some cars to sell and show. Chuck
