  1. Here's my early 260Z. It was stripped to bare metal and I painted it Daytona Blue. It's a turbocharged L28, intercooled, 4 wheel disc brakes, 17x7 wheels, 5 speed, LSD rear, etc. Chuck
  2. It prys off. Be careful if you don't want to scratch the paint. Chuck
  3. Welcome! Is there an electric fuel pump somewhere? Maybe back by the fuel tank? Having a pressure regulator isn't a bad thing. I'd leave it there unless you're going for originality. Chuck
  4. I really think it's part of a locking gas cap. Probably something cheap from the '70s or '80s that easily broke and parts fell in. I'll see if I have any old locking gas caps around with similar parts. Chuck
  5. It's yellow. At least that's what it's called. It's similar to Chrysler's Curious Yellow. http://zhome.com/History/ZColorGallary/index.html Chuck

    Coil

I'd go with a hotter coil. If you do that you can probably eliminate the ballast resistor too. Chuck
  7. It's not that bad. The hardest part is getting the trans to align with the clutch so it'll slide in. Support the trans with a floor jack and muscle the trans into the clutch/engine. Most of your muscle is used lifting the trans...not forcing it into the clutch. I'm able to bench press the trans for a few seconds while I try to get it in and I'm not that strong. Chuck
  8. Look on the back of the wiper arm for an L or R. Left and right of course. Chuck
  9. It looks like I used double-sided tape to attach mine. They've been on the car for about 8 years. I did a lot of sanding to get them to fit tightly against body. They seal well and are almost water tight. Dust isn't an issue. Chuck
  10. I found a box with some of my odd switches. They look like 280Z switches but with 240Z connectors. Chuck
  11. I think you'll find it easier to install the engine first if you have the intake and exhaust already on. You'll have less room to wiggle the engine around if the trans is alreay in there. I recently installed my engine, then transmission and then header/intake on my race car. I installed the engine and trans by myself. It was very easy. Chuck
  12. Do any of you want to sell one? I'd like to try to make it fit my new race engine. If I can't get it to fit I'll use it as a cool door stop. Chuck
  13. I did it once with the trans still in the car. I find it easier to have the engine bolted in place and then put the trans in. I have no trouble doing it that way by myself but if you haven't done it before you'll find it easier to have a couple friends help. Have two people under the car to put the trans in and another up top checking the trans to engine gap to make sure it's not going in at an angle. Chuck
  14. I always install the engine first and bolt it in. I use a regular floor jack and balance the trans on it and jack it up. From there I pretty much just muscle it into place. I've done it many, many times. If you were closer I'd give you a hand. Chuck
  15. If racing history makes them equal then their relative values don't change. Both cars were made a long time ago and I can't ever remember the 510 ever being worth more than the Z. I don't see a reason for that to change but you never know. I wish there were more 510s out there. I'd really like a 510 wagon but haven't had much luck in finding one. Chuck
  16. I have nothing against the 510 but I doubt it will ever be worth more. 6cyl vs. 4cyl. Sports car vs. sedan. What was the event in WV? Chuck
  17. I'm not sure that I understand what you're saying. You want to remove all the chrome so only the blue base layer is left. Scuff the blue with Scotchbrite and spray with a good 3M adhesive. Apply the Mylar to that and trim off the excess. Here's a panel (before and after) I did years ago. Sorry for the poor quality of the pics. Chuck
  18. Yeah. I'm pretty sure that's the switch setup I have somewhere. Maybe it's on my '69 Z? It's around here somewhere... Chuck
  19. Here's a pic from one of mine. I'm pretty sure I have a console at my other garage with two original switches where that filler is. Chuck
  20. IIRC here in the US it's a black filler blank. Lemme run out to the garage and look at some... Chuck
  21. I remove the thin layer of chrome, mask off the blue area, scuff it, spray with 3M glue, apply a layer of mylar and cut off the excess. Chuck
  22. I used a press. You can probably use a vice and a socket to press it in. Chuck
  23. The round part goes against the clutch pressure plate. The side with writing is pressed against the collar. I'll see if I can get a pic of one of mine... Chuck
