  1. The 383 comes from a Chevy 350 block and Chevy 400 crank IIRC. Mopar is famous for their 383 big block. Chuck
  2. They were originally body color. I would try a chemical stripper to remove the paint. I'd try it on a small spot on the back to make sure that it doesn't melt it. I can't imagine that they would hold up well in the temps required to powdercoat. Chuck
  3. The sheets I bought are close to the stated 1/8". I'll have to measure it tonight to get an exact number. Chuck
  4. Lowe's has 4x8 sheets in 1/8" for about $7ea. I just bought some on Sunday. It was in an aisle with other sheets and some trim. Chuck
  5. I think I had that problem years ago. You just have to stretch it. Chuck
  6. The factory used strips of foam tape that by now has turned to dust. Chuck
  7. Don't forget to use some brake grease. They'll work better and last longer. Chuck
  8. All 240Zs have the strap on the right only. In 74 the 260Z got the integrated arm rest/door pull on both sides. Sent from my Moto G Play using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  9. If you can find a decent 73 bumper you can have it straightened and re-chromed for about $300 at Tri City Plating in TN. Chuck
  10. We race ITS. Jeff has been faster than the track record but temps went up and so did his lap times. It was low 1:25s or high 1:24s. Sent from my Moto G Play using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  11. Jim Slechta in the 300ZX was fast as usual. He was 4th. The results were: 280Z, 240SX, 240Z (started 19th overall), 300zx, RX-7, 325iS, 240Z, 240Z. Jeff Lucas in a 73 240Z probably would have won again if the stub axle hadn't failed. We're all friends and everyone knows who the big dogs are. The Labor Day Double Points race brings out more cars and a couple more very fast cars to battle including another RX-7 and an Integra. We race again on July 29-30. Chuck
  12. Here are some pics from the weekend. The Zs dominated. Jeff had his win streak end at 10 in a row due to a snapped stub axle in his diff. Chuck Sent from my Moto G Play using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  13. I believe that I have a set. Maybe we can work something out. Email me if you're interested: cbuczesk@comcast.net Chuck
  14. I think there's a tab inside near the wheel arch to attach the plastic inner liner. Chuck
  15. We have a nice group of 7 Z cars racing this weekend at Summit Point. I re-rebuilt (yes, twice now) my race engine and it seems really strong this time. Jeff Lucas has won every race at Summit Point since at least the beginning of last season. Mark Gibson took care of a cracked head and should be contending for the win along Jim Cummings. Jim Slechta in the 300ZX is also very strong. John Legg has a strong engine in his 240Z and still sorting out the car since getting it back on track. If I can't battle Jeff for the win I hope I'm fighting for second place. If anyone wants to stop by John, Jeff and I are in the paddock area inside of turn 10. 16. I think one is 240Z and the other 280Z. You need to match the rotor with hub so everything lines up. In other words you can put a 240Z hub/rotor on a 280Z and vice versa. Calipers are the same. Chuck
  17. I was thinking that parallelogram was part of some company's logo but I can't remember which one. But now I see the second pic and the angle changed on the parallelogram. I probably have a couple hundred rockers so I'll try to look at some of mine. I think some companies also use the Nissan part numbers. Chuck
  18. Rock Auto and Amazon have the sleeve. The water pump pulley should be bare cad plating. Chuck
  19. You should change your name to Houdini! Can you make all of mine 69s? Please! Chuck
  20. I've installed about 10 Precision windshield gaskets and never had an issue. Chuck
  21. The cam tower bolts go through the top left and bottom holes. The head bolts go through the top center holes. Chuck
  22. Where are you in MD? Did you set the cold lash? The oil passes from the center right side of the block through a passage into the head. That area could be blocked. But if there's no oil getting to the cam and lobes then I couldn't expect it to run for too long. The lobes will wear and the cam might seize in the towers. I think the end towers supply the oil to the front and back halves of the cam. Chuck
  23. I'm sure that they interchange but the early ones work differently. Lemme see if I can find a pic... It's something like this. Chuck
  24. I think all years can be interchanged but the early 240Zs have a different spring mechanism on the hinge. The door latches are clearly different for the 77-78. Chuck
