Insurance, 280Z and value
when my 72 was hit the adjuster had come out and he was like WOW a 240Z i was surprised he knew what i had. well to make a long story short his first car was a datsun 2000 convertible coupe while he attended college then his second car was a 240Z!! hehe what luck. as we talked further, he is now in the process of restoring a austin healey BNZ 3000. so it depends on if the person you are dealin with knows and respects cars. anyway i ended up with the prices from MSA for my fender, hood, front air damn, new tie rod ends, new tire, alignment, paint and labor, i recieved a check for 1975 dollars.

Factory spoiler?
spoilers ever produced for the Z that came with the car. the only one that did though there is more after was the 79 ZXR. then the Z31 Turbos came with a factory rear spoiler also. the spook was produced as a air damn for the front of the car, it is nice and does go with the car well

is this the wrench i need?
i would recomend a set of Kobalt wrenches. i use them love them and they are comprable to that of MAC and Snap On. they are made of quality steel cheap as or cheaper then Sears Craftsman and are just plain better. they also fit perfectly unlike many Craftsman wrenches. oh btw thats the one

Dellorto or Solex vs. SU Type
you have the engine to use them. some people just put them in for looks and the sound of 6 barrels going off does sound wonderiful if you have a engine that can benefit from more fuel then yes this would be a good choice. in any event i have bought from this guy and he is OUTSTANDING as a seller. i dont think you could find a better person to deal with on ebay i havent checked his rating but i doubt you will find one negative

z + winter = ?
winter = snow = rust on your Z winter = snow = rust - means your Z sits happily wrapped under a nice blanket, ie car cover of good quality. or it sits in its nice protective garage. i cant see why anyone would wanna take any classic out on the road in the winter!!! bad bad thoughts, beat yourself in the head for thinking such a thing:stupid:

money problems
your looking at someone here that has done the california thing twice. florida 3 times, texas once. the last trip from cali was from la, 2174 miles or something like that. 42 hours, driving at speeds of 85 + for 15 to 17 hours a shot. dont worrie, unless the car is total crap and you will be able to tell that right off, i wouldnt worry. by the same token do a few things before you take the trip. inspect the car, check the brakes and lines fuel lines, hoses and such. bring a small assortment of tools with you just in case. the Z is soooooo easy to work on its not funny. have the oil changed, if you want some new plugs wires cap rotor, bleed the brakes and check them if they feel bad. just make sure its ready and go. my car went with no probs 100%. i only had one scare. the idler pulley for the a/c, hehe the bearin went out and it sounded like a water pump ready to go. lmfao scared the $^!# outta me. but hey thats the fun of it all enjoy the ride. if you want you can email me and i will try and find you some decent cars in the area, i know a few persons there, and can have them looked at prior to arrival. james

Looking for a Z Doctor in the DFW, Tx area
its very easy once you get the hang of it believe me i know. i hated my su's till i got the jist of how to tune them, i could almost do it without a sychrometer just by one of these tools a synchromete usually from unisyn or the like, you may want to get a colortune also. the unisyn is a air flo balancer for the carburetors. the colortune works a bit differently. there are only 3 adjustments to be made on the carbs and there is a baseline setting. save yourself some money and do it on your own it really isnt that hard. the one also big feature of that is, you can say you did it yourself and your work and sweat went into your car, your pride and joy. just go to www.google.com and do a search on su carburetors you will find several pages of how to tune them yourself. enjoy the ride

Tranny won't go back in?!?
make sure that your engine isnt bouncing around while your trying to push that tranny in. when i did my 5 speed swap into my 71 i forgot about that. i was having one hell of a time:stupid: very angry and throwin curses at the car like candy :tapemouth all you need to do is step back a second. look at the car. make sure your engine is securely blocked, line the tranny up just right, if you have a transmission jack this makes it soooooo much easier. just be patient and she'll slide right in, the bold idea:finger: dont even think about it. trust me after killing myself witht he engine flopping about i did it after blocking the engine in about 3 minutes. swapping a tranny by yourself sucks:ermm:
