if you were going to use the dell orto 40mm carbs on your engine. if you keep the current 2.4 block i would at least bore the block .20 over, for the head if you have the E31 head. 44.. intake 35 mm exhuast, complete valve job, port polish, i had the 480 lift 274 duration cam, it worked well but if i were you and your looking for power, id go wiht and i should have gone with the 460 lift 270/280 duration cam. replace the 4 speed with a 5 speed, and at lest a 3.90 rear. 6 into 1 headers are great for torque. at the lower end. if your going to do the head you might as well do the block or go with a 2.8 block your choice. upgrade your ignition system. and so on. just if you want the power from such a engine combo remember your gas is not going far. thats why im selling my stuff to go turbo. i look with my built E88 head and a F54 2.8 block id be just at 10;1, i was going to use my dell ortos but the cost would be more them im willing to go when i can easily get more boost. good luck with whatever you decide james

or maybe just one. you said you adjusted the carbs. backfires are from running to rich. lean out the carbs a little and make sure there balanced. also you might want to look into some new plugs james

i can see that your thinking entirely to much on this subject. point is if you want more traction wider is better. but not for the fact of wet weather handling.

  14. i had my 72 somewhat modified and well enogh to hold its own up to just above 120. the car still felt ok but i could feel the begining of the wash out on the front end. it was starting to get really light and control was starting to leave my hands.

but they are god awful ugly cars. its just a sin to do that to a Z. i will say on the other hand i have seen a few. and i mean a few that do look good though. it all depends on what you do to them i suppose.

  17. Datsun E 31 crank out of a P30 block from a 1972 240Z. This crank has but only 10K miles on it. It has been balanced and is still very clean. A great crank to replace one that you might have bad or need to replace for a fraction of the cost of new. Email me for more photos. The price is 120.00 obo Datsun 240Z connecting rods (9mm) and pistons. Here is a excellent set of used connecting rods and pistons for your 240Z. In great shape with only 10K miles on them. They're still like new, Nissan ampco aluminum pistons. great for your future rebuild and much less then the cost of new. Nismo parts sells connecting rods alone for 69.00 a piece, not to include pistions at 40.00 each. Get the whole lot for 200.00 obo. Datsun E88 Performance Head Comeplete rebuild on this E88 head was done with the rest of my motor parts. With only 10K miles this is a great head to get that power your wanting from your 2.8 block to make a good 10:1 compression engine for some serious power. It had been cleaned, refinished, has had the larger 44mm intake and 35mm exhaust valves installed, new steel seats, guides, springs, retainers, rocker arm kit, and lash pad kit. Alson installed was a 480 lift 274 duration cam thast good for power from 2500 to6000 rpms. A great start to a good performing engine. 400.00 obo Datsun E31 Head. Complet E31 head from a 1971 240Z. The car was running when the head was pulled. It is in good condition and is bolt on ready to go. 150.00 Tripple Dell Orto 40mm carbs and Cannon Intake Manifold Add power to your car with this tripple carb set up. 40mm Dell Orto carbs and Cannon intake make for a great combo of power. the carbs are ready to go with new bolts. All you need are air cleaners which are sold for a rather cheap price constantly on ebay and linkage. These are a lot easier to set up then the Webers there made after and will give you all you need to make your carbureted Z go. 400.00 obo Datsun ZX early distributor 79-80 model remanufactured ZX distributor for your Datsun. Bought new only 7 months ago, this is the best option for going to electronic ignition on your 240 Z. In excellent shape with the 12-80 module for the best performance. Still has remaining warranty on the part and i have a reciept. if you have been looking for a good ignition upgrade this is it. 85.00 obo Datsun 6 into 2 header I have a Datsun 6 into 2 header of unkown make for the L6 square port exhaust engine. looks to be in great shape with just a little surface rust which will clean up easily . 50.00 I have a few other things for sale that i have to get ready. Up for sale soon will be a set of 280ZX six spoke wheels that have to be repolished price 200.00 for the set of 5! will have pics to follow. A good set of 72 240 Z seats in great condition also for sale ready to bolt in 150.00 obo. I have a few other odds and ends that are for n/a applications. Im going turbo and building a new engine. I will also have for sale shortly once the trubo engine is done a complete engine w/89k original miles and E31 head for sale. A good set of 3 screw su's and a 4 speed. heres the website link for pics. http://communities.msn.com/240Z1972/shoebox.msnw email me at jaymes240@hotmail.com if you have any questions thanks
  18. i was thinking of what you said grantman and it is true you can have one helluva beast. but the problem with that is gas mileage can you afford to drive it. thats what made me decide to go turbo. ill have efi reliability, turbo power, and great gas mileage. for more power just turn up the boost. i was thinking of using the same turbo motor im buying, going to flat tops with my E88 head with bigger valves, port polish and tripple dell orto 40mm carbs. i would have been running 10:1 and had quite a sweet ride. the only problem is the gas mileage. sure you would get good mileage for normal driving, but as soon as you open those six barrels watch the gas goo.. that is something i would miss. i love the intake sound tripples make, but by the same token i love the whuuurrr of the turbo. james

depending on what year you have you can get more. my 72 ran like a bat outta hell with a .40 overbore, e88 head with bigger vavles, 480 lift 292 duration cam, and headers with exhaust and a 5 speed. i cant imagine what it would have done with a greater rear underneath it

  22. you are the man:rolleyes:
  23. ZmeFly replied to Jaykuo's post in a topic in Help Me !!
but why pay that kind of money if your gonna just stay stock!! i dont see it just rebuild the su's that you already have. and use them. there great carbs. now if you were going for a performance engine id say save a lil more money and go with some webers or better yet dell ortos. just my .02
  24. there is no alignment for the rear wheels.. unless you get camber adjustments for the car. you can help out the caster problem but tightening your tensiong control rod. this will bring it in some but not a lot if it is really off. remember when doing this it will also toe your car inward on itself. all that the Z car has is toe adjustments. thats it. now your ruff road problem i would say is contributed to the bump stops and your caster being out of adjustment.
