Looking, like everyone else for a 240z
i had talk to that guy and have some sketchy reports as well. heres what he told me and the engine he said well just read his mails Good morning. Thanks for the interest. It is the original L26 engine. It is not bored out but I have replaced the original twin SU carbs with 3 weber duces. Also replaced the intake and exhaust manifolds. I do have the original parts in the garage too. The carbs, manifolds and air cleaner. Complete with orange cover. It is an early 260Z. You can tell by the bumpers. As for the rest of the engine I have within the last year replaced the original alternator and generator. I am attaching a few more photos. One is of the engine. I am selling it because I don't have the time to maintain it and want someone else to take care of it now. It has never seen a winter. If you want to chat more feel free to call me. Where are you located? Paul The battery area is just fine. NOT rusted out. The same with the frame rails. The only area that really has rust are the dreaded floor pans. The frame is however fine. When I got the car it was undercoated. It was from New York. I undercoated what needed to be reinforced with another coat. This was with a rubberized undercoating. Not the normal stuff. I don't have any pictures of the underside but if you are serious I can borrow a digital camera and take a couple. It will be dirty but still in tact. I installed gas shocks but they have been on there for about 15 years. They are still good though but you could stiffen up the suspension more. The sway bar is still original. A few other parts replaced with NEW in the last few years are the breaks master cylinder, the master and slave cylinders for the clutch. I replaced the clutch about 15k miles ago. I rebuilt the breaks 2 years ago. And last year replaced the factory headlights. They still worked!! But the insides were giving away and the silver was pealing and looked bad. As for the engine. I have not done a complete rebuild. Why mess with all those seals if you don't have to. It still runs wonderful!! Still the original head and block. Still the original cam too. I get about 250-275Hp as it stands. You could easily get that up to 300 or more with a few more things. I never really wanted to. Oh yea. There are 117k miles on the car and block. I bought it in 1979 and built the engine in about 83. So that is the last major thing I have done or had to do to the car. I repainted it about then too. I will not kid you. There are things that could and need to be done. This car is 28 years old and mostly original. But it is and has been a great car. I only put on about 500 miles a year now because I work to much and have a family. So. What do you think?

put the 72 240 on the scales
i think shess fat . the car weighed in at 2300 lbs even. i have a 5 of 72 240 Z, with a msa fiberglass aero kit, 280 zx 6 point star rims, 215-60-14 hoosiers, 2.4 block E88 head, headers dual weber(frowns), twice pipes, 79 zx 5 speed, and R180 diff. it also has a complete interior. i dunno i thought it would weigh a lil less. maybe i can lose a few more pounds in a couple of places.

My 1970 Fairlady Z
the 432 did have the cross flow head and the triples and was a 2.0. still the find is awesome. that really suck that the car was stolen and the fender mirrors are gone. still i would agree with everything you said. keep it all by itself in its own lil garage and dont let anyone near it . i was driving my 72 around for the summer was getting ready to take it home and sit it in the garage to strip it for painting. well it didnt make it that far a dumb neon girl hit me:( oh well what will you do id definetly like to stay posted on your progress she is a beautiful ride. take care of her

a very sad day for me
thanks to all of you. i dont know now reading it how it sounds. yes i hated to give up my favorite car, especially since i used to love hunting mustangs in it but like all of you said, my parents needed me. my dad was to proud to ask me since he himself couldnt come up with the money. my mom had to tell me it was really hard for my dad to take the money from me knowing what i did to get it. he was saddened and said i shouldnt have done it. i told him to remember when i was young and stupid and all the trouble he baile me out of. it wasnt a problem. the good thing is that i took it to the local auction house and believe it or not it sold for 7500 big ones. hehe i only paid 3950 for that car. i loved it and will miss it. but hey, life isnt much of anything without family. once again thanks

a very sad day for me
well its something i really hated to do but i had to sell the 260Z8 today. seems my parents had hit hard times and needed immediate money for land taxes they hadnt been able to pay for over 4 years. well i hope the new owner is happy and takes care of my fastest Z. i will miss her dearly. the good news is my parents home is no longer in jeopardy. well you win some you lose some.
