springs?
and doing it so often to other cars i find that when i do work on a z that i own its childs play compared to most of the newer cars and dont take it or take it for granted that to some it may be more of a chore:ermm: :cross-eye

the search is over
the reason that the red car is the donor car is because that will be the one with the good body and no rot. the other car has some rot, and its not feasible(sp?) to fix when i can have this one for much less. the red car will be getting a 3.1 stroker from the 73 that im buying in st louis. two cars = one nice looking and mean little machine. the 73 also has the manual and this 71 has an automatic:(

springs?
the job is extremely easy and straight forward. you would want to put a bit of oil down the cylinder of the strut to make it easier for the next time you need to change them. the only hard part might be getting the large gland nut off of the strut tube.:tapemouth

what is the offset...?
it is zero, the back spacing will change upon width of the wheel usually that is around 3 to 3.5 inches

springs?
your struts do not hold up the car only dampen the spring. your springs are what hold your car up. its springs that you need. but its always good to get the struts to go along with them. good luck

and so is the whining as 2ManyZ's would point out to me. i have finally found my donor car for my motor. ill be picking the donor car up this friday and getting the other car on tuesday. gives me just enough time to go to los angeles back to pennsylvania and then to st louis, mo and back once again. then im going to take a long nights rest hehe heres the early 71 240Z that i found for 1700 the only downside to the entire car is that it has a automatic but i can live with that till i get it home by the way when im done there will be parts a many for sale. fenders, wheels original hub caps, distibutors, seats, interior pieces, fuel cell, and others. thanks for all the help in trying to find me one Z ya later

springs?
when i bought my last 71 240z, the springs which i believe were still stock were still on the car with a worn set of mulhulland struts. when i put my good set of msa 1 inch lowering springs on the car i actually gained ride hieght. goes to show you how badly springs and shocks can get worn.

Attention All Rust Free Area States
for up to about 2k i would expect a decent car. i dont mean perfect paint and interior just a clean car, not totally devoid of rust but not a rust bucket either. now for about 5k i would expect nice paint, mostly rust free, good trans and motor and some of what im looking for. i have found quite a few actually and i have actually found the one that my 3.1 stroker is going into, in la for 1700, its a clean almost rust free early 71 240Z with the hatch vents, and euro tail lights. they are out there, they are available, they are to be had but patience and daily searching will bring to you what you want. you must be willing to search and travel as most cars like this are on the west coast just waiting for someone to come get them heres the 71 i will be getting this friday  my search is finally over :cheeky:

Flywheel
but from what i have heard, you have to learn to drive all over again. the characteristics are totally different and you will rev faster and they will drop off just as fast. figuring, the stock flywheel and clutch assembly is about 42 lbs and you drop about 15lbs off of that well there you have it. im not sure of the weight exactly of the flywheel itself, but i know with pressure plate, clutch and flywheel the total is 42 lbs. ive shipped that. i would say at least 24 of it is the flywheel. its just something to get used to again.
