  1. the toyota brake upgrade is so expensive, or claim they cant get the parts . i just got from advanced auto a set of remande calipers, new brakes, bendix, new pins and anti rattle clips for a wopping total of $75. now i didnt get the new master cylinder yet but thats what say $30? and ss braided lines from msa $70 with shipping, and a proportioning valve another $35. i think it only gets expensive if you go with the vented 84 rotor and lager calipers. which i will be doing sometime in the future
  2. the guy that i know actually has that rear panel. he was going to use it on a repair of a 72 but his damage wasnt as severe. so he has that rear panel. hes done work to a Z too. i know this other guy is good but i dont know his knowledge of Z's seeing a Z's in pa is like seeing a yugo. you just dont
  3. that it may not be able to be properly done?? this worries me now becuase i want it to be right and if this guy cant do it right then i dont want the car anymore. should i take it to a really good shop and have them pay there. i know of a really good shop that does excellent work and have seen several older cars there. i know the owner personally also. should i go there. is the damage in this area to serious or??

but why not. if you really want to do it right do it like ive seen most with a interior cage set up in the car to support the loss of support from the roof. there was a really nice and clean lookng 280ZX on ebay a couple of times with a covertible conversion that looked imho fantastic. if you have the time and money why not try it. james

everyone talks about bad low end response. maybe its just with the webers but my dell ortos never had that problem and i was well when not into all 6 barrels wast getting good mileage i think there good, but i dont see why you would want to leave fuel injection for carburetion. like the man above said if you dont have experience then your in for trouble. also if your still basically stock then i wouldnt suggest it at all. stick the with injection
  10. i think that my hand prints are firmly inbedded into the steering wheel. tow things that make it bad. one he came flying out of a streat earlier like about 7 minutes before he hit me and came close. then he acted normal for the next two lights. my girls like maybe you should pull over and let him pass. :stupid: well like usuall she was right. ive learned to listen to her about her bad feelings on cars. just guess i should do it all the time:D i havent been out all day to look at the car. i just dont wanna. the thought of the damage is enough to make one cry. to look at it it doesnt look that bad from the outside, ill take pics tommorow. the bumbper is gone as are the bumperettes or whatever they are called. i havent found any Z sources that have this part or the name of it. it is the piece that is the center of the lower rear part of the car. like what you would call in the front lower have the center portion of the valance. inside, the floor before the spare tire well is bent upward, and curled. when i put it on the lift tommorow ill actually know if ther is any really bad damage i dont thing there is, just to the body and my heart i searched hard and went all the way to la to get this car, why because i wanted a good rust free car. now this. as they say **** happens. thats something i didnt check someone mentioned that i should check for ripples in the hood and sides. i didnt look for any but i will tommorow. is that a bad sign???? he didnt hit anything above the tail lights including the tail lights which was to me a good thing till i looked inside the hatche and there rear interior plastic was no longer attached to the car. thanks everyone james

granted they still do have a lot fo parts for the Z and available. and i do like there service. but if you think your getting a 25% discount think again. when i ordered form them some time ago for a clutch. i didnt think about the price. they have me logged in there and i just sent the money off. well i look at the reciept and think something is funny. go to the web site and the prices are totaly different. never saw where a discount was removed either. when i called they said that there site hasnt been updated in a while and the prices reflected were wrong. then i asked about my discount, same answere except now it was only 10% im not bashing them but they should do something for us guys since were suppling them with out hard earned cash to keep that store up just my .02

  24. it may be that the mechanic that runs the shop is either not willing or just more purist type of guy but i asked banzai motorworks whihc specialize in Z repairs and such about the 2.8 turbo swap to my Z. well he says you will have to basically hack the wiring and you wont end up with much more power then a good well built 2.4??????????? is this guy nutz or what i thought the 240 had 150 net hp and the turbo had 180 or am i wrong and basically for some good 200 hp just turn up the boost ? whats wrong with this pic. i am wanting to do this but wiring will fry my mind. is it that hard to rewire or not. i have a complete engine, all sensors are present but thats just it. ill need a new or used afm computer and injectors. i could turn that block into a good powerful 2.8 flat top 10:1 scremer with tripples and be in like flinn. id like to do it but just dont know if i can handle the wiring is it just harder then it looks or??? would there be anything else i would need or have to do to my 71 to make this work thanks james:ermm:
