VERY INTERESTING THREAD ABOUT PAINTING WITH A ROLLER.-Hybridz
I read the whole 10ish pages (phew). Had me sold till the guy who showed his results was able to scratch it back to bare metal. If it works I think it needs more clarification. Eg Exact branding to use, with what solvent, at what ratio. But yeah, cheap way to get some colour on your car. I think I'd wait till lotsa people can vouch its success. 2c

Man thats no good. I can sympathise. I've got a re-constructed left knee, and a right one that dislocates regularly. And im only 24, so I've got plenty of arthritis to look forward to! You'll be right, it freakin hurts tho. Play the sympathy card as much as you can! Luke

hey all you aussies !!!
For $4k US to transport, plus the sale of the car, I'd sell it and try and find one here. There aren't loads around the place but if you contact a club and keep your ear to the ground I'm sure you'll find a good one eventually. Where abouts in aus are you headed? Luke

Oil pressure sending unit ??
Are you sure there is a problem? I mean my oil pressure reads fairly low (just above lower mark) when at idle and V low speeds, and will only go to the high mark when I'm really giving it the boot. Does the guage move at all? Also check sender as earlier described. Good luck Luke

Glisten PC
I agree, I tried brushing it on my aluminium rims after they were polished and ended up stripping it all off and doing the job again after I was not happy with the bubbles in the finish. I'm sure the product is great. But next time ill be spraying it. Luke

Head No. Location
It's prolly a regional difference between AUS and US. The 83 280zx I used to own had the F54/N42 setup stock. Luke

240/260 window mechanism differences
Yeah, there is a difference. I wasnt able to use a 240 regulator when I had to replace mine. Ended up getting the correct one through warren at allzparts. Cheers Luke

oil change
"oils ain't oils." I'd agree that if you use the one brand/type of oil that it is more beneficial than trying every one after another. depending on your climate I would've chosen something a bit thicker, but it depends on your engine condition etc...

Ignition just stops when warm.
After checking/replacing coil, ignition module would be next on my list...

New 280z Owner!
That is one hell of a first car! Sounds like you got a great deal, as long as it goes as well as it looks. For god's sake don't wrap it around a tree! Luke

Series 1 Dial needle pointer colour
When I was changing my tacho around (swapping guts and keeping original face etc) I used a two wire one from a 240k (I think) and it had a red/orange needle originally, although it was quite a bit smaller from memory and would have looked a little wierd on the original 240z face. Maybe someone's been playing swapsies with yours too? But no, no zeds I've seen have had that. FWIW Luke

Thoughts on diff strap alternative
Yeah, I was looking at the one Alan had too. Not that I have spoken to anyone that has actually fitted it, but would there not be a lot more vibration passed on the the body of the car? A lot louder etc? Would'nt mind knowing what you end up choosing though...

US B210-->is this the US's 240k?
Don't be too upset Datto-Zed. The way I see it the datto is still there, the tree it hit isn't. Datto=1 Tree=0

Way of the Future?
Hydrogen power is not that far away. Iceland has made a decision to convert all marine, public transport, and industrial machinery to hydrogen power in the next 30ish years. Public buses have already changed over (2002). Problem is the cost of refuelling stations & transportation. I'd say we'll prolly bitch and moan about the cost of fossil fuels for another 50 years. Then, i dunno. :stupid: FWIW Luke

Air Intake Air Ducting
So you'd have unmetered air in your system. And you think this would improve things how? :stupid: Now I'm sure you've seen as many or more posts than I have about vacuum leaks and the like in a FI motor, so why make one? IF you did manage to do it, the only way would be to make sure the rates of induction where exactly the same at any given time, which defeats the purpose of the exercise in the first place. I wonder sometimes

Recommended method for a basic valve cover polish...?
Don't worry, it will definately fill your day. If I recall correctly I started at about 600 grit? (could be wrong) then to 800 & 1000. I would also get the graded steel wool to use after that. And a polishing drill bit for finish. Good Luck. I'm sure that if you started off with a heavier grit and worked all the way through you would get an amazing finish (as some members have here) But my fingers just can't take all that abuse in one session.
