$2k for a zed! let alone roadworthy is a bargain, even just for parts. So yeah snap it up I'd say. No rust (yeah..?). Recently repainted? pics before paint? How well do ya know the guy? But for that money, what the hell!

Well, I'm sure there are a few at least. But I really haven't looked nor enquired as I'm really happy with the cam I've got. Though I don't think it's the sort of thing you need to have local. Are you planning on an upgrade too? [soz about the small hijack ]

My cars' PO got the cam from Wade Camshafts in Oakleigh Vic. http://www.wadecams.com They list it as a Datto L 4cyl, but can be made to a L6. I got the 733a, but with your setup I'd say you may be after something a little meatier? It would be interesting to find out what some of the jap specs were originally. Wade list some "Works Rally" cams but I dunno what or where they got them from... Good Luck, tell us what you go for? Luke
  5. It was only the US market that missed out on the 5 speed in the early zeds i believe. I can't recall off the top of my head (FS5C71B i think) which one Ive got but it has the bent stick, desirable ratios and the porsche style syncros (which are quite expensive to replace! in aus anyway). I'm not sure if it was stock or a PO has changed it. It is currently on my 75 260z. Actually, reading this over. I havent really helped your question at all! :stupid: Luke

Hey, I know of a place up here in Brisbane, though I'm sure there are places down south that can supply it too. They had zed paint codes/descriptions on a database that they just matched up when I was in there last. I didnt end up using them for the zed, though I did get some for touch ups on the gf's car. http://www.ducomagic.biz/index.php?p=1_1 Good Luck, Luke

When I replaced mine I also had trouble finding one through the normal suppliers. I ended up contacting Bosch and they found me one through a wholesale supplier; Brisco Butler Automotive Services 07 3857 3011 Part # BIC290 Only cost me $30, Bargain Hope it helps Luke

I'm doing exactly the same thing at the moment, have the same problems. Though I've found that I was missing a few bits of ducting in the dash. I have a 75 and it has the cable operated controls. I found the heater tap on the right-hand ride (with coolant hoses etc) wasn't really opening that well. I plan to replace it with a spare one that visually, looks like it's in a lot better condition. Id also recommend removing the heater core, (and all the junk that finds it's way in there) and check for blockages in there. It's also really fun taking it out too :tapemouth On a side note; is the resistor on the blower housing supposed to help heat the air also?

Kudos to you! It's the sort of car that I look at and hope that mine will reach that standard...sometime. Looks very, very good.

Im guessing you're talking about Alan Stean. His shop is still there, though he deals primarily in race/rally Silverstone tyres (Great tyres i hear). He still might be able to help you; Zcar Workshop 07 3808 2755, Kenway Drive Underwood. Good luck
  16. Looks great, nice fit. what size angle did you use?
  17. Yeah, it does look weird, especially leaving the rear quarter indentations. Looks like they've cut n shut the corner bumper peices to the centre. Looks like it's been neglected for a while. Is it a l28? Or just the injection added on? Does it run? Shouldn't there be some sort of blanking plate over the mech fuel pump mount on the head? Cant go wrong for the price tho.

For that price, why the hell not?

I know what you mean. When I removed mine I spent a good 10mins looking at it thinking wtf? I believe it provides light into the cigarette "barrel" when the dash lights are turned on. When I looked it up in my FSM it showed a different setup with the bulb actually attached to the barrel. Not the separate cylinder. Must have been one of those small changeovers within the series. There was one in brissie in the trading post about a year of so ago. I didnt see it but the price that was being asked was a bit excessive I thought. But then again, your'e paying for rarity i guess. But yeah, I havent seen a 280z here, apart from the bre they had at the motorshow last year.
  21. :D yeah, nice but, just doesnt look right imho.
  22. Is the coil mounted in that position normally on the L20A six?

My vote is also on belt tension...
  24. 20kg (Give or take) of fuel makes that much difference!?!?!? Need new springs? BTW They do look absolutely awesome. Really, really good. How much did they set you back?
  25. Initially I thought it might be a goggomobil dart . But it's wheel arches are way too high. I'm thinking maybe a 50's Jag XKSS
