Hey Richard, sorry don't have a camera. The module is the E12-80 that sits on the side of zx distributors. Not my pic, but looks like this; http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/distributor/distrib2.jpg Is there a part number on the bosch module that you have? How old is it? Cheers Luke

I haven't done it, but id say that I'd would be smart to upgrade to EFI, which (should) include a new baffled tank or surge tank. Then if you've gone and tracked down the EFI manifold and bits, then there is prolly an L28 attached to it :nervous: . I'd say that it depands on how well you want to do the turbo set up. Yeah you prolly could just "throw" one on a L26, but finding turbo manifolds in Aus will be difficult. So there is all the cons, someone tell him the pros! Luke

It's from petroject, www.petroject.com.au In their write up on ign modules they say they only stock "quality brands" Bosch, Ac Delco and Mitsubishi. So i'd assume it'd be a bosch one. They were very helpful with tracking one down, did a lot of running around. So far I think I'll go with it, i'll prolly try and use a heat insulating paste as 260DET suggested, and with a heatsink (ala pc processor heatsink). I'll keep you posted on what I decide. Luke

After checking almost anything to track down my itermittent miss I can think of I am certain that my e12-80 ignition module is cactus  . Nissan wants a stupid amount of money for a new one ($300ish), I can get an aftermarket one from Petroject for $150, or $175 from a zed shop south of the border. What my question is, the GM swap that is popular in the states, has anybody tried that here? I've seen the write-up on zhome, anybody know if the module is on an aussie holden somewhere? And whatever I do get, does anybody insulate them? To try and prolong their life? Thanks for the help. Luke

Yeah, my 75 doesn't either. It's been one of those things to do, but never really got round to it. I'm pretty sure all the wiring is there on mine too, but until I actually put a switch to it, who knows... Luke
  7. My first car was a RA28 celica, I thought the original taillights were cool. But if you've got the time and the money I guess... Luke

I used bicycle brake cables for my choke cables. When I got my 260 the po had a single aftermarket cable adjusting both carbs :tapemouth . Using the old choke handle and two trimmed bicycle brake lines, and a couple of circlips. Works great. Looks good. And cost bugger all. :cheeky: Don't have any real close ups, but this shows that they do not look out of place. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=8777&size=big7sort=1&cat=500 Hope it helps Luke

Depends what your valve seats are made of, If they're brass, the need a lead replacement additive. If they're steel or bronze (My E88 head has bronze)then you'll be fine using normal unleaded. I've also heard that the LRP you get is really, really ordinary fuel. Leaves visible deposits in intakes etc. As for optimax, I think it does go longer on a tank, but I don't feel any difference in performance -(don't have any crazy mods though). Luke

Yeah, you basically did what the door does when it catches. You should be able to just close the door, it won't close as such, but it'll turn the thingo back around. Did it when I was playing with a window a regulator. :stupid: If it doesn't work then something must be aligned incorrectly. Good luck Luke

Hey, yeah I got the rude shock! Alan at the Z shop had about 30 or so in a box for $7.50ea (a couple of months ago). But id be sure there was at least 4 good ones still there... Luke

I "thought" (ala could be speaking crap) that the slant made the highest point of the valve cover in the centre of the hood buldge, meaning that there is more clearance from valve cover to hood when the engine moves. Anyone agree? :stupid: I don't thing the orentation or slant of the engine would affect the torque produced. Luke

Info which you probably know anyway, you can take the regulator out without removing the window. Undo the plate that hold the door release handle on it, then push it back into the door. Regulator will then fit out the hole. Once out you can always try and straighten the regulator arms, but if the rollers or hinge is stuffed (as mine were) you have no choice but to replace it. There is a good write up in the archives about how to re-install the regulator, basically it's just a PITA. But do-able. EDIT: Sorry Ed, I just re-read your post. Obviously I'm having an out of brain moment. Oh well.. Good Luck Luke
  14. I went with the lowered Kings and Monroe shocks. The old stuff was well and truely cactus when I got it so I didnt have much to compare them to. I'm happy with them though. Not too low, but still have to crawl over speed bumps. I haven't got a really good picture of the ride height. Unless I was feeling cashed up, i'd go with the same set up again. Luke

  16. I've found that with most new cars. I'd imagine that manufacturers wouldn't look at it as a safety issue, but more as a ride/comfort issue. In the eyes of most people im sure that the lack of resistance when not on the pedal would be seen as a smooth ride. But hey, im just guessing. Luke
  17. Yeah, when I was filing and using a dremel on my intake, grinding all the casting marks off. After a days work I unfortunately had a similar experience! I reckon it was more metal than snot . What a lovely topic! Luke

Hence when you get a key re-cut, make sure you're getting brass and not a cheaper steel key, as it will wear the lock innards rather than they key. Soz, just had to but in and say that :nervous: Luke

Hey guys. I went for a great drive today, up to Mt Glorious which is only about 30mins away from where I live. Lots of twisty steep turns, with a few bits of level drives in between. I really enjoyed giving the zed a run, and I was thinking about making it a regular thing, as I have fridays off . For me it just re-inforced what a fantastic car the zed is. This let me to the question that how many of you, and how regularly to you just "go for a drive" for no particular reason. Do you make a day of it or just a couple of hours?

Yeah! I saw it a couple of months ago when I was walking down the street, I stopped walking and it literally turned me around! I saw it on the northside of brissie tho. Looks Beautiful!

I've also got a dashcap on my 75 and it does hinder removal, although at can be done (on mine anyway) I have to twist the tacho around about a quarter of a circle to remove it as the shrowd isnt perfectly round. It is impossible (afaik) to remove it from the rear of the dash. Best of luck! Luke

Was the place you went to part of a chain? Or a specialist? Do you know the equipment they used? Sounds like and interesting test to have done. Luke

Hey, couple of your radiators on ebay at the moment, manual and auto. Cheap for the condition the look like. Anyone got sizes for these? Not my sale by the way! Luke

I know that a company that has a couple of different corners for the windscreen finishing strip/mylar. I only used that actual strip, as I had the corners and joiny bit. I got them from Spectrum Rubber & panels http://www.spectrumrubber.com.au/ But if they have them id imagine they would be available from Rare Spares, Old Rubber Co. etc
