  1. HS-30H - "There's a sucker born every minute". It was true then and it's true now. If you make enough noise - for a long enough period of time - people (suckers) will eventually start to listen.
  2. Might one assume that someone with the handle "Volvoamazon" would know that character's story given his history with the Volvo community?
  3. Whatever the seller does DON"T take his check!!
  4. Also available from Banzai Motorworks for a few lira less!
  5. If you want to have the latest in battery technology regardless of fit or if you're satisfied with the hold down parts you bought at your local auto parts store what I'm writing won't be of interest to you. If, however, authenticity is paramount then the following will, I hope, help you reach your goal. The correct Nissan battery for your 240/260/280 is still available from your local dealer for not much more than you would pay at your local Auto Parts Inc. Yes, you will have to saw off the brackets that secure the plastic lifting handle, a 3 minute job. Afterwards the battery will conform comfortable with all the correct factory hold down parts, also still available from Nissan. That is, save the firewall insulator and related fastener. Those are available from Banzai Motorworks. Of course I'm not including the Holy Grail battery covers. 2878 - 1972 240 2879 - 1978 280
  6. Come Mon I'll take a picture that will include the Nissan part # and show the fit using the correct factory hardware.
  7. Banzai Motorworks has reproduced the 280 valve cover breather hose which has been NLA for more than 5 years. It's $45.00.
  8. The correct type 24 battery is available from your local Nissan dealer for about what you would pay at a local auto parts store!
  9. HS30-S - Don't get me started on the ZCCA!
  10. Hiyabrad - the bag of fasteners with the Nissan part # is a 240 distributor screw set, now NLA. The other pix is of the assembly mark I installed on a customer's pedal box.
  11. Hi Zed Head - You started this thread on 11/5/20 with a list of cars from BAT. The last car on that list was what I referenced as being in my shop. It was on BAT 2/2/21 Hershey is the big east coast AACA event and it is indeed large. However, unless you wish to linger over every car there you can see most of it in a day. Of course, if you want to attend the show AND flea market AND car corral 2 long days are required. My girlfriend is into brass era cars and every year, those years when the weather is good, there are no less than 50 brass era cars in attendance. Also, there are always a number of attendees dressed in period clothes, very fun. To us the highlight is the end when the cars are required to exit the show field under their own power. The whole ball of wax is FREE. A couple of years ago Jay Leno was wandering the show field. He was very gracious and obliged those wishing to have their picture taken with him.
  12. Zed Head, the last car on your list, the 72 with American Racing wheels, ,is in my shop getting ready for Hershey.
  13. To me the most interesting aspect of the comments about this car is the universal praise for the competence of that outfit in OK. Most of you know who I'm referencing, the one with the multiple convictions for fraud. However, this continues to prove that there is indeed a sucker born every minute. On rare occasion BAT has featured a car from his shop, or if we can believe it did indeed come from his shop, and they haven't been anything to write home about. By the way, I like the car and expect it to fetch a pretty penny. To restore it or do just the safe & reliable repairs needed and enjoy the patina, the universal question!

  15. When practical, heat applied if it doesn't cooperate immediately!
  16. Folks, what I'm going to write is not meant as a criticism of anyone but an observation backed by 50 + years of experience. Car spent a very long time at the body shop and is a 280. ALL 280s, approaching 50 years old or so now, suffer from a partially or completely plugged internal gas tank filter. The symptoms described fit the bill but let's prove it before we start throwing money at the problem and hope it goes away. If a customer brings a 280 to me with performance problems and the cause isn't obvious the next step - ALWAYS the next step - is to install my fuel pressure gauge between the fuel filter and the fuel rail. The first test is to see what the fuel pump, original pumps are still available from Nissan and God do I hate to see an aftermarket pump cobbled together with the reason given, "those Nissan pumps are too expensive", is capable of. With the engine running I pinch off the return line. The pressure gauge should immediately go to about 55 psi. If at the same time the car starts to run much better then you can count on the in tank filter being at least partially plugged. If after pinching the return line the pressure doesn't increase markedly then the pump is shot. Based on reading most of the posts it sounds like a classic partially plugged in tank filter. I've seen lots of 280s that came out of storage , same as sitting a long while at a body shop, with partially calcified in tank filters.
  17. Those oil filler cap seals have been NLA for about 2 years. The oil filler cap O rings have been NLA for more than 15 years.
  18. 26th-z - Sorry for the delay getting back to you bit the reproduction parts have been flying off the shelves of late. When the Z Store program started I was offering a pretty good assortment of decals and just a couple of rubber widgets. As the program moved forward they, Nissan, commissioned me to supply a greater and greater number of mostly rubber stuff. They only ever wanted 55 sets, no more. NEVER during my many conversations with the 3 Nissan employees I chatted with or the 2 restorers I also had long conversations with was the number 200 mentioned. Perhaps there is some documentation - real stuff on Nissan letterhead - but I've never seen it. Is there documentation beyond internet chatter? Please, if there is how about letting us unwashed in on it. (not trying to get people mad or upset)
  19. I won't be going. At 70 years old it just isn't safe.
  20. All of the other car clubs I belong to have said "same place same time - next year"
  21. Excellent point Grannyknot. If the bearings have a million miles and are 100 years old the end play is trying to tell you something!
  22. There was a LOT of cross talk about original engines not being reinstalled in the Z Store cars and that a lot of the cars didn't, therefore, have engine #s that matched the numbers on the engine compartment ID plates. When talking about those cars it's important to remember that there were, in reality, 3 iterations. The first batch reused a lot of interior soft trim as Distinctive Industries were not on board the program yet, neither were the Banzai Motorworks reproduction ID plates. Both companies were onboard for the second batch which allowed any convenient engine # to appear on the engine compartment ID plate as they left Banzai without #s. The third batch benefited from all of the DI soft trim and Banzai repro goodies. While I'll plead guilty to going through this # issue leaving out some detail I can say with convection that they bought 55 sets of everything putting, I feel, to rest the often quoted 200 unit target for the program. I also recall a conversation I had with one of the principals involved who told me that due to VERY POOR quality control many of the first batch of rebuilt engines had to revisit the re-builder causing delays, and some confusion, to that portion of the program. Finally I have to take my hat off to Pierre. He and his staff worked very hard to make the program work while under significant pressure and a tight budget.
  23. What have you got to lose, rertorque.
  24. Chris, if the white car is yours you've made a number of mistakes!! Now I wish I could have visited with you!!
