Greetings, My "well I bought it for parts but I guess a little bit of work wouldn't be a waste of money" '71 now looks sufficiently well-dressed not to concern the neighbours, other for the fact that it takes a minute of turning it over b4 it comes to life if its been sitting for a few days. Various experiments have led me to the concusion that the fuel is draining from the bowls when it sits overnight. I'm assuming there should be some sort of one-way valve around the place preveting the good stuff from driaing away, but aren't sure where to start. Anyone have any suggestionswhre to look or alternative hypotheses? Cheers Damian Percy '71 240 in Adelaide, South Australia "No sweetheart, overspray won't reach the washing line...."

Greetings, Someone asked me to post some pictures of the Miata seats I recently wacked into my '71, so here goes.... They're very similar in shape to the OEM seats, comfortable, have speakers in the headrests, and are *way* less likely to fry your thighs after a day parked in the Australian sun. I used the Miata rails, drilling a hole in the front section to match up with the front mount on the floor pan. Then simply drilled 4 holes in the mounts (2 to match the new holes in the rails, 2 to match the existing rear holes), wriggled things about, and bolted them in. I've still got some overhang (the Miata rails are longer than is required) and will cut it off in due course. Relatively simple exercise and a useful alternative for a DD.

Mike, Dash Original is the name of the local crowd though to be perfectly honest I'm not sure if they do the vacuum forming on-site. It may well be your contact given the prices are soooo similar. If you're interested, you can get in touch with them at dashoriginal@optusnet.com.au. Now if someone can just find a simpler way of re-connecting the heater cables we'll all be set. Damian Percy Adelaide, South Australia

FWIW, I had my dash restored by a firm here in South Australia using the same process and it turned out really well (looks brand new!). Getting the thing back in was a pain in the rear but getting a new dash for the equivalent of US$200 aint too bad. With the USD/AUD exchange rate, I'm hardly surprised it's cheaper to send the thing half way around the world! Damian Percy Adelaide, South Australia '71 Donor Car Will Live Again!
