  1. yeah, Interstates are damn good batteries. Thats what I'll probably go with as well.
  2. Sorry "Dave" I meant to say Mr Zs-ondabrain Thanks for your input. Interstate sounds great to me I was debating about that or a diehard.
  3. Thanks. I'll try It just drives me nuts paying $100.00 a month on storage fees and I can never get her the hell out of storage but oh well what else can I do wish I had the room at home but i don't unfortunately. Back to my post #22 last paragraph on the battery, what are you running in yours Dave? I'm shopping for one now and can't make up my mind.
  4. Hey Phil, Near St.Paul, MN. What can I say, It has been an odd year. Winter just doesn't want to let go. Walker, MN is another one that just got really smacked with heavy deep snow. I feel really bad for them.
  5. Plenty of times but Like Jeff G 78 said, "Unfortunately, my job keeps me here, so I only get six months a year to drive/work on my Z." That plus all my family lives here as well so it makes it tough to just up and leave. Oh well I just need to continue waiting patiently for the good weather
  6. Damn right Zak. Like chris said, we should send old man winters sorry a$$ to Arkansas. Little Bill will find out what snow really is in a hot $^!# minute Thanks all for your replies. ggarrard, thats the same with me. The few nice days that we do actually get always comes during the week when I'm stuck at work and can't enjoy it. Then when the weekend rolls around guess what? More shitty weather  I also found out last weekend that now I need another new freakin battery for my Z. That damn Werker Battery I got from Batteries Plus (Huge Mistake) tested out bad and the bastards won't do a damn thing for me  Whatever you guys do, don't go to batteries plus for a battery. They're products are junk and they don't stand behind anything. But oh well thats another subject to be pissed about
  7. Thanks bro It's hard, but I'll stay patient
  8. Damn winter just keeps hanging on it's april 9th and they are predicting like 6 to 8 inches of damn snow this coming weekend  Everytime I think the weather is starting to get nicer I get all fired up to get my Z out soon, then we get more of this sh!t It bothers me to still see my poor baby parked. The horrible thought of should I sell actually crossed my mind Not good. Sorry for coming here to vent, but this weather is really bumming me out Any other northern Z owners here feel free to share your frustrations as well
  9. Hopefully I'm not too late replying, but on the cap and rotor - I'm personally big on using factory parts so I say go with a Nissan cap & rotor but thats me. Whatever brand you decide to go with just make damn sure that both the cap and rotor are the same brand. You can run the risk of creating incorrect air gap by using a rotor head thats a different brand than the dist. cap for example.
  10. Not to disappoint you, but on the winter factor alone, I'd go with something else thats newer and has more of a fighting chance against old man winter  The classic 1st generation Z Cars will just get destroyed if driven in the winter Period. That goes for not only the Z's, but ANY vehicle in that same age bracket. I just hate when I see people purchase a nice mint condition southern low mileage 1st gen. Z and subject it to the salt belt But you can and will do whatever you want. Just voicing my concearns
  11. Stephen, Can you post a picture of the filter with it in the inlet of the pump while your at it please LOLLOLLOLLOL Sorry, couldn't resist

  14. Sorry I can't help ya there with the 3 terminal ballast resistor Hopefully someone here can. best $550.00 dollars spent indeed. enjoy your new project man looks like she'll be a lot of fun.
  15. Should keep ya busy for a while That 260Z is in great hands now thats for sure
  16. You mean DATSUN 280Z 1984 is when they went with just Nissan only when they started with the 300ZX's but thats another topic So your certain there is no 12 volt power to the injectors? Not to discourage you and I've told others this before too, but this is one of those issues again where if you don't own a FSM (Factory Service Manual) for your yr. Z then you may be in for a long frustrating road ahead. Not to mention throwing money at parts that may or may not be the cause but anyway If it were me, I'd start at the wiring going to each injector and trace them to see if the problem is in the wiring. If that all looks OK then I'd get my FSM out and start performing all the test procedures at the E.C.U. harness listed in the factory manual to figure out the cause. Thats where I would start anyway Good luck with it and let us know what you find out.
  17. Sounds like you made out good on that deal Dave. Congratulations Always happy to hear another 1st generation Z got saved
  18. Yeah, I do the same thing. I still use the correct spark plug socket though
  19. Well you can go crazy (like I do with mine ) and do more than just the Basic Tune up but I don't know how far your comfortable going. Looks like your questions here have already been answered but I second the motion on using the correct socket specifically for spark plugs. Yes, you can get by using a regular deep 13/16 socket, but you can run a higher risk of cross threading the plugs as already mentioned plus that little rubber insert in the spark plug socket helps prevent breaking off the top of the spark plug. Makes the risk less anyways I always recommend nothing but the factory NGK plugs for these cars that are stock. If a distributor cap and rotor head is needed, then make sure the cap and rotor head are the same brand. Using a rotor head thats a different brand than the cap can cause an incorrect air gap. Back to the topic on plugs, they come pre gapped, but still double check them with your spark plug guage. During shipment the "pre gap" can get messed up from being bumped around so keep that in mind as well. Good luck with everything
