Injector Holder's
I got all new plastic holders for mine back when I replaced my injectors (All Genuine Nissan Parts.) I had the orig. Aluminum holders too, but I figured they are 30+ yrs of age and since I got everything taken apart, I'm going to do it right and reinstall with all new. The newer plastic holders are every bit as good I.M.O. If they weren't up to specs, Nissan wouldn't be using them as there "Genuine Part" You wont be sorry you replaced them. I'm not

SCAMMER ALERT Please read my fellow Z friends
Well the way I see it is this - I'm sure as hell going to do the best I can to warn people about dead beats that have nothing better to do than to scam people. People need to be alerted about it and thats what I intend to do as should every other honest hard working person. That being said If people are still stupid enough to deal with these scammers after they have been warned time and time again then quiet honestly they get what they deserve and I have zero sympathy for them. Can't say they weren't warned.

SCAMMER ALERT Please read my fellow Z friends
UPDATE - Just got another scammer responding to my ad again today (3/3/2011 E-mail: gsargio@yahoo.com "1977 Datsun 280Z Hello.... Am making inquiry on the item you have for sale..However,i 'll like to know the price for it....Also,i want to know if it's still available.Do send pictures of it ... Thanks." Whats so funny is I have lots of photos already in my ad and the price is listed clear as day. It's amazing how incredibly damn dumb these people are. I'm so tempted to respond back "I'd love to send you some photos of the "Item" but you may have a hard time seeing them with your head so far up your a$$. For any other questions, feel free to call me at 1-800 -EATSH*T" LOLLOL Excuse my language but these people are just a wast of my time and wizz me off.

Z Car Dot Com Was Sold?
I've been mostly lurking around on here more lately than I have been talking but I have to agree that your quote above concearns me as well. Forgive me, but as far as zcar.com is concearned, it's no big loss. I made the switch over here back in 2003. This site is without question the best for classic Z enthusiast. ZCar.Com was getting so heavily polluted by so many yung kids (Not that all yung kids are bad ) but many wouldn't follow the rules of the site such as using it as there own personal chat room, posting topics under the wrong forums, ect. ect. and then when you would call them on it, Vince and Derick would do very little about it and many times they would accuse you of "Stirring the pot." I finally said enough is enough. There were some good people over there that I miss but not many :stupid:

SCAMMER ALERT Please read my fellow Z friends
No problem Dave. Like I said, it's pretty obvious but I still just felt like I had to send out the warning to others and expose this so others don't get harmed or wast there time with it when and if they get this response. Yeah, don't get me started with our wonderful government :stupid:

SCAMMER ALERT Please read my fellow Z friends
Yeah, this creep gets around. The best advice I can give to other sellers is PLEASE do your homework on anyone who responds to your ad. I'm no computer guru so I can't tell you how they play the PayPal game but after doing some research on this pig, it's obvious he's a scammer and thats enough for me. Be careful gang

SCAMMER ALERT Please read my fellow Z friends
Glad to hear you dodged that bullet Derek. Like one guy said on that mountainbuzz forum "General rule of thumb: If they don't mention what you're selling, if their English seems forced and awkward, and if they use that combination of "bottom price / as described", they are scammers. Don't even waste your time."

He's already tried that game on someone else in another forum. What a sick minded loon

"I'm sorry but the "item" just got sold as of yesterday. Jared" I have not heard back from him since. Man I tell you, People like this really wizz me off. Sure is sickening and sad knowing that we have scum suckers like this roaming around our world. Like one guy said in another forum, "may this guy fry in hell." All I can say is AMEN to that. Sorry for the long read, but just want to put the warning out. even though it's pretty obvious :stupid:

changing my fuel injectors
Good to hear your having good success with the screws. I was able to reuse mine as they were still surprisingly in like new shape being the car is a low mileage Arizona Z car. I Just put a thin coat of anti-seize on the threads before reinstallation and she was good to go Thats a very rare thing. I was lucky For sure inspect them and replace them if they seem the least bit worn looking. As for the Grab It set, you should be able to locate them locally. I bought mine off the tool truck where I work but I've seen them at hardware stores before too. Just have to shop around in your area. They sure have come in handy for me more than a few times. never did have to use them on my Z yet though (Knock on wood) Yep, I have the last year for that fuel rail set up (75-77) Very fun job Take care.

changing my fuel injectors
I too have done this lovely job on my 280Z about a year or so ago. Be happy you have the one solid piece fuel rail on the 1978. On the 1975 - 1977 like mine the rails are all pieced togeather with short sections of high pressure F.I. rubber hoses connecting the fuel pipes A - D togeather. I had to disconnect all those and replace all those short sections of hose as well as the injectors. Now THAT requires major skills and patients I'd recommend installing new plastic injector holders. I did on mine being those tend to get old and brittle over 30+ yrs. One tip for you with the top and bottom 0 rings, Give them a light coat of 3 in 1 oil to help them go on easily and help them seat good. I think it was Stephen that gave me that pointer Thank you. For the screws - It is very common that they tend to seize on over the yrs. With the proper size screw driver and with me applying plenty of pressure, mine all came out with no problems or damage. DON'T use Lock Tight as noted in your 1st post thats what you put on screw threads so they don't come loose. You want them to come out Just soak them good overnight as suggested above with a good penetrating oil. If it does happen to you where you stip the phillips head, this is what I have had good success with http://www.amazon.com/Alden-8440P-Grabit-Damaged-Extractor/dp/B001A4CWHO A little spendy but well worth it in my honest opinion. If you get all the screws out Ok like I luckily did, then do what Stephen suggested or do what I did and put a very light coating of anti-seize on all the screw threads incase you need to remove them again in the future. Just take your time and be patient and follow the help & tips on here and in your FSM and you'll do fine Biggest thing again is patients. Don't attempt that kind of job if your busy and short on time. If you do, you WILL loose your cool and mess something up. Take care and best of luck.

idling car in wintertime?
Hey there Stephen, I'm with you man on being a long time Datsun owner/enthusiast Just offering my personal preference is all. Glad you are too and that the sta-bil works good for you. (But I'm still sticking with my Sea Foam) argniest - Like many vehicles out there, ethanol and L series engines don't agree with each other. Your asking for expensive problems if you do that. Maybe that Z mechanic you know is refering to the new Z's today that have the ability to run on E85 like the 370Z perhaps???

idling car in wintertime?
Just goes to show with a topic like this, you wont get just one answer being that everyone has there own opinion on what you should do during winter storage and nothing wrong with that. Just like "What brand oil should I use?" Stick with what ever works best for you with your particular storage situation. Everyones storage situation is different. Like I've said, I've done what I listed above in my Z and in an RV I had for many years and never had any problems. When I had the valve covers off on both, the top parts of the motor looked clean and were just like brand new. No damage done to them at all and both my Z and motorhome which was a 1979 ran smooth a silk every spring and neither used any oil during hot summer driving. Again, not to disagree with anyone elses suggestions on here as everyones storage situation is different. Just simply reporting the success I have had personally every year with my winter storage routine. As for the Sea Foam - It IS a fuel stabilizer as well as a cleaner as noted on the label on the can. Here again by all means, use what work for you and use whatever your happy with but I personally stick with the Sea Foam because I've heard horror stories from people that claim stuff like Sta-bil over time gunks up fuel system components. Now I have NO facts to say thats true or not but for me just seeing that red thick looking liquid stuff doesn't appeal to me dumping that in my gas tank. Sea Foam is just more appealing to me being it's a clean thin clear liquid that both stabilizes and cleans out the system thoroughly in the process which is a really good thing because lets face it, the quality of gasoline you get at the pump now days is absolutely terrible and goes to hell so fast that Sea Foam Treatments are must. I dump a can of it in my truck like once or twice a year simply for that reason. I love Sea Foam because it serves so many beneficial purposes all in one can which is why it cost a little more but well worth it. Again, take from it what you will. Just sharing my personal experience and opinions. Not trying to raise hell and start up any arguments :)

idling car in wintertime?
Many people are against running it during storage for reasons listed above. This is what I do and I have owned my current Z now for 8 years with no problems - I make sure the gas is filled up all the way, dump a can of Sea Foam in the tank and pull out the battery and put the battery in my basement on a battery tender. Once in a great while during the 5 to 6 months it's stored during winter I will go out and put the battery in and run it good for about 25 min. I do this probably once every other month. Reason I do this is because I want to occasionally circulate the oil and get oil lubrication to the top half of the motor so the top half of the motor doesn't sit dry over winter storage. I do agree that running it too much isn't good either as it can severely contaminate the oil but not doing it at all isn't great either because the top half of the motor remains dry for 5 to6 months. Thats why I only run mine just once in a great while to circulate the oil and let it warm up good then come spring before I take it out, I give it a fresh oil change. My Z purrs like a kitten every year with no problems what so ever. Never uses a drop of oil during summer driving Just my personal opinion on the subject

A late Xmas gift from my brother- 1970 240Z
Man what a brother I have. This early 1970 240Z sure is one of a kind - mint condition -very little miles -all stock -crack free dash -absolutely NO rust anywhere. Just an absolute gem. For whatever reason though my 280Z seems alot less cramped LOLLOLLOL My brother found this at Menards for $12.00 and said "I saw this and just had to buy it for you" :classic: I can't get over the detail on this model. Pretty cool and thought I'd show it to you all on here.

Possible S30 purchase
No problem. Just thought I'd mention it to you. I do have to agree with the other members comments though after seeing your photos. Keep looking and be patient. You can find a much better project Z than that. I personally wouldn't even categorize that one as a project car. A parts car is more like it. Again, best of luck in your search.

Possible S30 purchase
I too am in Minnesota. I have a 1977 280Z in storage for winter now but is currently for sale thats in very good shape with only 46,700 Orig. miles. You might just be looking for a restoration project or for a 240Z only but just thought I'd mention it to you Best of luck with your search. Hope it all works out.

Storage question
 Had a similar thing happen to me last weekend except it wasn't a cat (or the Z thank god). Went out in the backyard and thought hhmm haven't used the old grill in a while, might as well clean it up and have a BBQ. Went and opened the lid and there was an ugly grey mouse looking right at me out of his nest downby the burner :eek: I slammed that lid down so fast and leaped back. I about pissed my pants. Anyway to stay on topic, a month is nothing. Just make sure to use a good fuel stabilizer as already mentioned.
