Started putting my Z away this weekend
No way in hell do you want to drive a classic Z in the winter weather. Why you ask? Simple- if you do it will RUST  Hell I'm so fussy I don't even let my Z see rain in the summer. beautiful clean warm sunny weather ONLY for my baby. Ed, I here ya man. Too much to do and not enough time. I just recently finished my last project not long ago before tucking her away for winter. I had to replace the fuel rail that sprung a leak on me and since I had that off I redid everything else (injectors, 0 rings, holders, hoses, clamps ect. ect. As some on here remember me talking about. I had to get that project done so i could run her and fill her tank up full with gas. Hope your able to get all your last few things done too. Ane, I envy ya you lucky son of a gun you

Opinions on Safety while Under the Car
It's not that hard. If you have a Factory Manual, it shows the lifting points and where to place the jack stands. If your looking at jacking up the rear, the lifting point is the differential case. The front is in the middle of the crossmember. The hardest part is to get the floor jack to fit under the Z This requires using your head When I did my ball joints and tie rod ends this summer I had to first drive her up on the ramps and being that the Z is rear wheel drive and pushing from the rear, the front wheels wouldn't bite and would just push the ramps forward on my smooth garage floor. So I got thinking for a while what I could do and I noticed I had an old rubber garage mat laying in the garage so i cut it in half, put each ramp on top of the rubber mat to prevent the flippin ramps from sliding and Bingo the front wheels went right up on the ramps. Then I used the floor jack to get the front in the air and positioned the jack stands. Sometimes you just have to get creative to get the floor jack under there. My Z is slightly lowered too so that doesn't help Best of luck man and be safe.

Started putting my Z away this weekend
This time of the year is so depressing for us Z'ers here in the north. I had to get my blue baby tucked away safe and sound for her long winter nap. Now the Z Withdrawals are going to start I was hoping for what they call an "Indian Summer" this year where the weather stays nicer out longer in the fall to squeeze more time in with the Z but not this year. It's been a real sh!tty fall this year here Minnesota. Well anyway thanks for listening to me vent guys Z You all later,

New Member and engine trouble
Well honestly I'm not a fan of ZCAR.COM which is why I stopped going there a few years ago. Too many newer, yunger members would use the site as there own personal I.M. and would clutter the forums with B.S. or wrong answers to questions so God help anyone over there that tries to use there search feature for help I don't know, maybe it's gotten better there over time but my home is here at classiczcars.com

Cold storage
My baby is stored in a very dry storage garage but it is NOT climate controlled unfortunately but Cold temperature will not do any harm to them. You just want to make sure you store your car with a FULL tank of gas and use a good fuel stabilizer. (I use Sea Foam)
-
New member with a small problem
It's damn good stuff and is also a great fuel stabilizer. I use it when I store my Z for the winter months. I put a full can into a full tank of gas to keep the fuel good while she's parked.

"What you said makes scence but I just dont see how it can go out over a 3 day period like that." Crazy things like that can happen sometimes. I'd still run the tests because by performing the tests at the 35 pin connector, you'll be able to rule out other components that are not the cause as well. Sure beats guessing and spending $$$ on things that are not the culprit. "Im pretty good with actuall mechanical parts and things but i get lost with electronics. My trouble shooting is not worth anything." Just take your time and follow the procedures in your FSM carefully and you should be ok

What all have you checked? I guess I'd check the AFM (Air Flow Meter) to make sure thats functioning properly since that is basically the heart of the L Jetronic. The E.C.U. receives the signals from the AFM like the amount of air entering, air temp, ect. so if the AFM is worn out internally that will mess up your air/fuel mixture. If you have a FSM, (Factory Service Manual) I'd also perform the tests at the 35 pin connector for the E.C.U. with a multimeter NOTE: Make sure the negative battery cable is removed first before disconnecting the E.C.U. connector. If you do this test. Failure to do so can damage the E.C.U. I guess thats where I would start if I were you. Good luck and welcome to the site

Splash Pan
"do really the S30's have them originally??" Yes, they came new with them. Does MSA supply them? as far as I know they don't.
-
Who do you get your parts from?
Courtesy Nissan for me. Nothing but genuine factory parts for my baby. I did get some stuff though from MSA like my Panasport rims, suspension, poly bushings ect. and if Nissan has a part thats no longer available like the fuel rail I just had to replace, then I go to Z Car Source for things like that.

Beautiful pics of my Z :)

Hey Mark, Yep, I have all 4 KONI adjustable suspension with lowered springs. I love the way she sits too. It's nice to be able to adjust the firmness. It came with a little white knob that fits onto the top of the struts and I can turn it counterclockwise a few clicks for a more softer ride or I can crank them clockwise a little to stiffen the ride on country road S Curves I really love them. Also my baby has all poly bushings and this year I installed new factory Nissan Ball Joints and new Nissan Tie Rod ends. Originals where in pretty rough shape. Now she rides like a dream

Recommendations for going EFI
This business of installing the guts of a 280Z into a 240Z is rediculous and just not worth it In my opinion. Couldn't help noticing it says "Classic Z noob" under your name. This is something you should have thought long and hard about before purchasing your Z. I'm not trying to sound like a dink but It would have made a lot more sence for you to just get a F.I. 280Z instead Thats my 2 cents worth Good luck with whatever path you decide to take.

Hello all :)
Well today I took my Z out for the first time after working on it. I was unable to last weekend because I started late last sunday finishing up on the little things I had left to do and it got to late. Anyways what a difference. All my hard work and waiting for the parts paid off My Z has never ran as good as it does now and idles so much smoother than before. Also now when I take off from a stop, my Z throws me right back in my seat It's awesome but now I have to keep closer tabs on my speed. When I got on the highway today, I was amazed how fast she hit 85 MPH and not far up was a state trooper hiding in the center ditch

Where do these hoses go?
Now come on Stephen, be nice There is no such thing as a dumb question. Or so I'm told

Throw in the towel?
Glad to hear you've decided to hang in there. The best thing to do is like already mentioned, take a break to cool off when you get frustrated. Just keep in mind that the enjoyment the Z will give back to you once it's done will make it all worth it Keep up the hard work man,

Hello all :)
"You mite cut back on the Starbucks a little" Sorry man, I'm not following you???

Hello all :)
Hello Chis, Yeah, I know but this one cleaned up good too. Plus Z Car Source is backing it up too if it has any issues so can't really beat that But I do appreciate all your trouble man. Stephen, Thanks for the compliments. Yours is sharp looking too. Don't worry about it. The main thing is I got my hands on the fuel rail finally Larry, I know of Pallnets fuel rails. However I want to keep my baby original Well anyways I had to go to work part of the morning for a little overtime, then went to work on my baby. Everything went good and man am I glad I splurged and got all new Nissan Injectors with new 0 rings, holders, ect. you'll see why in my photos. Here are all the old dirty original 1977 injectors: This one injector had a crack in the insulation  I used my DeoxIt (the best ) to clean all the injector connectors. You can also see the dried out, cracked top 0 ring to the right of the DeoxIt can which I had tocut off the old injector because the rubber was so hard it was froze onto the old injector. The reason for removing the old 0 ring was to take the top metal piece off that goes on top of the plastic holder. As you can clearly see in the photos and the condition the 0 rings were in, these injectors had issues due to there old age. Believe it or not, these actually were still working fine too prior to this fuel rail leak which is surprising and I almost left them because they were working ok. Damn glad I didn't. I would have been redoing this lovely job over again to replace them later. When I installed my new 0 rings, I used a little bit of three in one oil on them to lubricate them which is what you want to do. I still have few little things left to do yet, but I called it quits for tonight because both me and my back are tired & sore It's hell on your back when your leaning over the engine bay like that for a while But I got a lot done. I got my new injectors installed with new top & bottom 0 rings and plastic holders, cleaned all injector connectors with my DeoxIt, installed new Factory Nissan high Pressure 5/16 fuel hoses with all new Nissan hose clamps. Anyways I can't wait to drive her tomorrow Take care fellow Z'ers,

Hello all :)
Wow, I guess no one remembers http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22618&highlight=fuel+leak or cares Oh well thats cool. Still thought it would be good incase people like ChrisA who were trying to help me locate one know how I came out and where I finally found this hard to find part. Well hard to find for me anyways being in Minnesota I'm looking forward to getting my Z running again after having it parked for the whole damn month of August due to all this "run around" trying to find another one. Now fricking fall is almost here and I'll be parking it soon for winter  I think I need to move down south LaterZZZ

new OLD stock OEM oil filter
My guess would be 1983 or older since Nissan eliminated the Datsun name and went to just Nissan in 1984.
