Still won't run!! I need help..
HAHAHAHAHA If he thinks trying to track down an electrical problem is a pain in the arse, wait till he tries to transform his Z Car into a 4x4 V8 :stupid: Now I'm really going to be hated here. Oh well

!!!!!!!
"Spend a little bit of it using the shop Vac to clean the broken glass out of my drivers side door. A truck kicked up a rock on the freeway and it shattered my window. Thank god the windows were tinted, or both of us would have been covered in glass and I would have likely ended up with glass in my eyes and crashed the Z." "picked up dog poo" Jeeze, now I'm kinda glad I missed your birthday party Sorry to hear about the flying rock destroying your window.

Still won't run!! I need help..
"i think it has to be something electrically wrong with the car because i have replaced or atleast checked everything else that it could be" "The car has a push button start for some reason when you turn the key all the way you can only hear the fuel pump turning on and sometimes it will turn over but it sounds like the starter isn't making full contact and just buzzes like its not getting enough juice, but the car started just fine before with the push button start" I think you possibly answered your own question above. Eliminate that "Push Button Start" and put it back the way it originally was.

'78 280Z has trouble starting in hot weather
Mine started doing the similar thing at the end of last summer/fall season before I put it away for winter storage and I haven't had a chance yet to correct it. My guesses so far that I'm thinking off the top of my head is either A) Faulty Coolant Temp Sensor or possibly I got a bad check valve in the fuel pump and it's not maintaining 36.3 fuel pressure like it's suppose to which is causing the "Hard to restart" issue. If I shut mine down and restart it right away it fires up instantly. It only struggles to start after sitting for a period of time so I'm kinda leaning towards B. I'm not sure yet. I got to do some testing myself

Springtime drive!
Well Now it's my turn this year I guess I'm a little nervous on the Water pump. I'm hoping like hell none of the bolts go snap during removal :paranoid: I plan to soak them good first and crank on them very slowly and carefully.

Springtime drive!
"I am finally getting closer to the bodywork and paint!!!!!" Looks real clean in the photos. Sounds like a fun summer season ahead for you The first thing on my "to do" list so far is my front brakes and while it's apart, I'm going to repack the wheel bearings as well. Then later I want to install my new Nissan water pump and fan clutch that I have brand new sitting in the box. I got them because the orig. 32 yr. old water pump is starting to make a little noise but is still currently working ok but I don't want to wait too long on that and the fan clutch is the original too so I figure might as well do that as well for piece of mind. The fun never ends

Considering Parting with my Z .......
I hear ya man which is why I said "I know some people like the original poster of this thread share the same love but they either have financial or family issues like little kids to think about first which I totally understand and wish them the very best." Any hobby like a classic car hobby is fun and great IF your able to do it but family for sure is priority #1 You have your priorities in the right order by putting your family first. Keep up your hard efforts man and hopefully later on down the road when your situation improves, you can give another Z a good home

Considering Parting with my Z .......
Driving it was just one example. I get lots of enjoyment just spending time in the garage with it as well. "Actually, I refuse to own a car that I only use that sparingly. All of my previous project/hobby cars have been driven daily, used as normal transportation, in addition to being weekend entertainment. My 240Z is no different. I drive it when I want to, to work a few times a week, and if it rains, no big deal." If your not super paranoid (Like me ) with your classic vehicle worrying about some careless jelious bone head throwing there car door into the side of it, shopping carts slamming into it, old man winter eating it alive ect. then hey good for you. hell I even worry about my daily driver too but what can ya do? Thats just who I am. I spend good time, hard work and hard earned $$$ on both my vehicles and just want to keep them as nice as I can. Either way if your working hard to keep a classic Z alive and well then you got my respect. I hope the magic feeling never goes away for you man. The Z community needs ya

Considering Parting with my Z .......
So what are you sayin Arne? Your going to throw in the towel too in the next few years??? come on gang where is your love for the classic DatsunZ?Unless you really need the extra dollars I just gotta ask why??? Impractical?? Of course they are. What old classic car/truck isn't. You have them purely for your fun & entertainment (taking nice cruises on beautiful sunny days/evenings, working on them keeping them in tip top shape, cleaning and polishing them up nice to show off your pride and joy ect. Thats my view on the subject anyways. My Z gives me a break from the daily grind. After a long hard work week I just look forward to be able to have a break by climbing in the drivers seat of my Z and hitting the curvey country roads with some good classic 70's rock songs coming out of the radio or just hearing that L28 roar under that sculpted hood as I shift through the gears thinking "All my hard work into this Z has really paid off :D " I can't think of anything more fun and entertaining than that but thats just me. I know some people like the original poster of this thread share the same love but they either have financial or family issues like little kids to think about first which I totally understand and wish them the very best. Hopefully I don't catch hell for anything I just said. Just wanted to express my feelings on the topic Seems like there are too many losing interest lately (not just here on the site)

So who has installed speed bleeders???
Might as well get the bag and hose combo too if you haven't already. I am. Like I said before, if it makes my job easier, I'm sold on it

NGK spark plug number
I understand it's something that may not be needed on these plugs but at the same time, I don't believe a half a drop of anti seize wiped sparingly on the tip of the plug threads to help them thread in nice and help them remove nicer is going to cause the plugs to blow out. If you think that your nuts. Causing damage by over torquing plugs is caused NOT by using a tiny bit of lube on the threads but by the knucle head operating the wrench with no common sence who thinks he has to go ape $^!# with the wrench. A tiny bit of lube for the threads is not going to hurt anything for god sake. I've never had damaged threads or ever broken a plug from using a tiny bit of ant-seize lube on the threads. If used correctly, it's not going to effect the way it runs either. If that were true then all my cars would run like $^!# which they don't. My Z and daily driver both run like a million bucks not to mention I haven't had a complaint from any customers I've done at work so I don't plan on changing the way I do it. My theory is if it's been working good for me through all the yrs. I've done it, I'll stick with it. Those of you that don't believe in it, Fine then dont use it then. Like I stated before if used correctly, It's really just a matter of opinion so lets just drop it. Life is too short to argue over such bullshit as this. If you feel the need to respond again thats fine but I've voiced my opinion on the subject here and now I'm done.

NGK spark plug number
Well what can I say, it's one of those touchy subjects again where everyone has there own opinion about it. I should have known that and not even mentioned it for that reason. I am very careful with it and only put a very light coating of it on the threads. I don't disagree that if you go nuts with it that it can create issues but I know better than to do that. Like I've said I've been using just a very light coat of it on the threads for yrs. with no problems at all. None of my vehicles miss a beat when they are idling and driving so If it helps the threads and hasn't caused any issues for me then I plan to continue doing it the same way I have been. Just my two cents.

Well I'm a happy guy today :)
I don't know man but I'm not complaining. 60 degrees and sunny here today Seriously, Sorry to hear about your weather man. I've been through it as well. On the bright side at least the snow won't last long this time of year.

Well I'm a happy guy today :)
FINALLY is right

Big ooops! Please save help me save my Z.
I gotta chime in here and say make sure you always store it with a FULL tank of gas for storage along with a good fuel stabilizer. If you don't thats how rust can start inside the tank.

Well I'm a happy guy today :)
The streets finally are clean and the weather was very nice today so I loaded the battery and some tools into my truck today and went to my storage garage and woke my Z up from her long winter nap. Both me and my Z were so happy :D She roared to life again and boy did she run like a deer on the highway. Fun day today for me and my beautiful Z.

NGK spark plug number
What Who said I run those??? I use the factory recommended plugs for my 280Z which is B6ES-11 the BP6ES I listed for "guy_geo" for HIS 1972 240Z which is the correct plug for HIS Z. doradox, Thats your choice but I've been using a very light coat of anti-seize on the threads only of my plugs for yrs. on all my vehicles with no issues or problems what so ever. I've seen the type that don't believe in putting anything like a anti-seize lube on there threads and have damaged there threads trying to remove the plug and then they have a real expense on there hands so my opinion is You might want to rethink about not using the anti-seize but you can do whatever you want and I'll do the same which has served me well on all my vehicle tune ups over the yrs.

international burnouts LOL
HAHA I know. Who would have thought you could whip shitties on a bicycle

NGK spark plug number
No, I agree Arne. I'm the same way. I don't have a FSM for a 240Z so i just listed the one NGK showed for it on there site which I shouldn't have done. That is the right plug though.

NGK spark plug number
I just got the info from the site linked below. I did get mine from them last time. I usually go through Nissan direct but at the time, they actually didn't have mine for my 280Z at the moment I needed them. I was happy with there service. http://www.ngk.com/results_app.asp?AAIA=1209169 scroll down to "regular Class" plugs
