Greetings all Z Drivers, After looking around for some time to try and find a Long Island Z Club that is active, I couldn't find one so I started it! Called "LIZ", For "Long Island Z", I hope to get an active and thriving membership started ASAP. I know that with the winter coming events and meetings will be limited but that only means we can make an inaugural spring event a huge one to start 2007 off right! I have started a website that will be developed more fully shortly but if anyone would like to join up please do! http://www.rocksonicrecords.com/liz I would like to see the membership page's content grow rapidly! I have extensive experience with Z/car Clubs from my days in Nashville with the Middle TN Z Club, a very good one. I am actively seeking sponsors and funding options for LIZ and would appreciate any input on those subjects. BTW, this is a Z Club for ALL Z's...from the earliest to the newest. We all drive Z's for the same reason, they are great cars and we are all fans. Please send feedback on whether you guys would be into this club or not or provide any kind of feedback you deem appropriate. I think a unified club for all LI Z's is a great way to represent us on a more local level. My fan clutch has seized...what can I expect to happen until I have time to replace it...it may have lead to a problem with other stuff mentioned in my other post from earlier today... http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18469

So, my car made it from Long Island up to Syracuse with no problems at all. On the way home she started to buck, hesitate and backfire, sometimes very badly. I cannot figure out what is happening but I replaced the fuel filter and cleaned both carbs (‘72 SU’s) as best as I could. I recently replaced my water pump, radiator and it seems that the cooling system is working fine. The problem seems to be heat related as it will start and run fine when cool but as soon as it starts to heat up it starts to act like it is not getting fuel. It will sputter and backfire and eventually stall. If I let it cool it will go just fine again until it gets warm. Again these are 72 carbs and all the heat insulation wrap is still on the fuel lines so I don’t think it is vapor lock... Somewhat recently installed MSA headers...maybe I need to install a larger heat shield? Anyone with any thoughts or suggestions? I’d appreciate it very much. Sunday, June 26th at 10am. Hey everyone... Chris and Paul Shakalis are generously donating space for a Z Car Tech Day at their airplane hangar at Republic airport. How cool is that? They can accomodate roughly 10 cars in the hangar itself, and then maybe 10 more outside of the hangar. There is more than ample parking for any others in the regular lots and on the street. If you want to work on your car in the hangar, you must reserve a time spot so we can give everyone a chance. Email me at void@interzonestudios.com to reserve a time slot. They have cool tools but we suggest bringing and using your own tools as much as possible. Please be aware that we will be working around precision tools and aircraft. Everyone is expected to be respectful of the property in the hangar. We want everyone to have a fun time while making certain everything is left like it was before we arrived. We'll be barbecuing and it'll be a BYOB & F situation but I'll make sure we have enough plates, cups, napkins, bibs, charcoal, lighter fluid, emergency contacts, crash helmets and firehoses. Figure we'll finish up around 5-6pm or so. Finally, we'll talk about the next meet in June possibly at Alley Pond Park and hopefully plan some caravans up to the National Z Convention in Syracuse. It'll be great to have a rough headcount prior to the event so we can more finely tune the plans so let us know if you plan to make it. After arrivals and introductions we’ll caravan East on Ocean Parkway either to Joe Salerno’s Gilgo Beach house (depending on how many people participate...he can fit a dozen or so) or Robert Moses State Park where we will find a barbecue grill and whip up a little feast. It’ll be a BYOB situation but I’ll make sure we have enough plates, cups, napkins, bibs, charcoal, lighter fluid, emergency contacts, crash helmets and firehoses. Figure we’ll finish up around 5-6pm or so. We’d love to see some NJ, CT and upstate Z drivers of all generations so come on down (or up) if you can make it.
