Lug Nut size for Minilite Mags on '71 Z?
Any idea what size/type are the lugnuts that will work with the Minilite mag wheels, the ones that require the flat bottom to the nut with a flat washer? Are they 12mmx1.25 or is that just the stock 1971 240Z lugnut size? Mine are all rusted and I'd love to get another set of lug nuts. Thank you.

Rear Hatch Weatherstripping help needed!
Ended up using the gasket set by Precision, which is okay. Little bigger than the Nissan set, but about $1000 less expensive. At least that's the best deals I could find after looking for quite a while. I do have a Nissan hatch set, but it's the same size as the Precision. The hatch still sits up a little, but a lot of the body panels that were removed for painting were not aligned correctly by the body shop when they reassembled the car. Nissan dealer body shop here has an old guy who seems to know how to do the re-aligning, so I'm going to give that a crack. Neither door locks will work, although the doors look to be hung correctly. One lives and learns I guess ...

Windshield without sealer?
After visiting safewindshields.com I've decided to have the installer do it instead of the bodyshop. It turns out to be a crash-worthiness issue. Without the urathane, the windshield pops out and if you roll, the windshield pillars collapse, the top crushes, and you are toast. The claim is the windshield itself, when fastened in, is part of the crash-structure of the car. The company, NW Windshields, warranties it against leaking, etc., for as long as you own the car. If they break it on installation, they do another. They use the Precision gasket, windshield urathane, and seem to know what they are doing. The body shop won't warranty against leaking and if it breaks when they do it, I buy another one. This turned out to be a no-brainer, with enough research. Sound like a lot of hooie? I thought so until I read the stuff at safewindshields.com ...

OEM Windshield
Mine got so bad I couldn't see if driving into the sun. It will be interesting to see if they can get this aftermarket window in without breaking it. They have already managed to scratch the new paint job with a screwdrive trying to put the headlight covers back on. And the (#*$&% got upset at me over it. Lesson learned: just because a body shop is highly recommended, and has no dings against them, doesn't mean they have the slightest clue about doing an old Z car ....

Part # for 240Z windshield??
I got an "OEM replacement" from NW Windshield. They had two choices; an "aftermarket" for $98 or an "OEM replacement" for $169. We shall see what it is when they deliver today.

Windshield without sealer?
The body shop is now insisting on putting the new windshield in the 1971 240Z (FairladyZ actually,) without using any silicone or other sealer. He says they use a linseed based oil that accomplishes the same thing. Is this correct and that it won't leak with the stuff he want's to use? Thanks!

Rear Hatch Weatherstripping help needed!
The body shop is putting the 1971 Fairlady Z (JDM 240Z) back together and don't have a clue about the rear hatch weatherstripping!!! Is there any weatherstripping actually put onto the rear hatch itself or is it all on the body? Is there a description or diagram somewhere I could look at? I'm afraid they are screwing it all up!!! HELP PLEASE!!! Thank you!

Getting Ripped in shipping?!
Experience over the years on eBay has shown that if a shipping charge isn't posted, and you don't ask before bidding, you usually get screwed on the shipping/handling/packing/packaging charges. Always ask before hand or don't bid is the advice.

What exhaust sytem should i buy?
I have a Sprint system on the '71 Fairlady Z and when the muffler went south I dumped it and run with just the resinator and LOVE the sound. Fairly rich until 4 grand and then it BARKS! When highway cruising it's just as quiet as with a muffler, sort of a nice deepthroated purr ... like a big tiger just waiting to roar ...

Valve adjust - hot or cold?
Got a '71 L20 engine in the FairladyZ. The local Z mechanic, very highly thought of by the local Z car owners, when I asked him "valve adjust hot?" he said "nope, not necessary. Always do them cold." Okay. What is the pro and con of adjusting them hot vs cold? Would the result be the same if I had him do them as he will be adjusting them cold or should I just look for someone else? I can guarantee if I try it they will be screwed up ... !!

SU 4 screw stumble ... is there a cure?
The carbs on my '71 are the original 4 screw dome tops. The car stumbles off the line unless I pull the choke most of the way out. Is there an easy cure for this problem? It does it tuned or not.

HELP!! Speedo cable mystery
I'm trying to remove the inside speedo cable, the "snake" in the cable housing, on our '71 Fairlady Z. Can't figure out which end it will pull out from, speedo end or tranny end. Tried at the speedo end and it didn't budge. Tugged on the tranny end a little but it doesn't want to seem to come out! Is there something unseen holding it in or am I missing something? The dealer said all he knew was it was 8" shorter than the regular Z cable ... not much help. Which end should it pull out of??? Thanks!!!

Very kool car!! How did you get the parts to rebuild the L20 motor? Be very interested in that information; thank you!

Fender mounted mirrors
Just got a set from Erickson Nissan in Canada, little spendy but there are some which pop up from time to time. They are stock on the Fairlady Z and really neat when you get used to them. Just a glance from eyes driving position and you see all. Plus they draw the looks and comments, or maybe it's just the rh drive car in a lh drive country.

Hands up who's in Perth (or Australia...)
Any '71 Fairlady parts available down under? Like a speedo cable (right hand drive is 8" shorter than the 240z here the states)? Having a devil of a time finding parts for the Fairlady.

Fairlady Z Body and Dash Resto ?
From what I can find out researching our '71 FairladyZ the amber/white/red taillights were home market. The Euro lens was the clear ones for the front turnsignal/parking light. Something about emergency vehicles having amber lights in front in Europe in those days so cars could not. The rear lens are getting hard to find. Got the last set a Nissan dealer had in Canada!

Odd clock on e-bay
That's the one in our FairladyZ. One knob make the "elapsed time wheel" rotate, and the other one resets the second sweep hand when pressed. When pulled it is used to set the clock hands. Pretty kool. Ours runs slow and sucks a heck of a lot of juice. It will run the battery dead in a couple of weeks of sitting.

Fairlady Z??? what the?
My '71 Fairlady Z has an L20 inline-6 ... did they also come with the 2400cc engine? It has a factory 5-speed which uses the same driveline as the Roadster. Did the Roadster have a 5-speed?

Banned on Ebay
If that was for a Fairlady Z I'd jump on it!!!
