17 " SR Racing wheels and Nitto Tires
17" SR Racing wheels with mounted Nitto NeoGen tires (225 X45ZR X 17). Tires have at least 75% tread remaining. I ran this set up on my 79 280ZX show car. The wheels and tires are in wonderful condition having only been driven for shows and a few Z Car Club day trips. The offset is 4.2cm so I use wheel spacers which gets everything back to 0 offset. I am including everything you will need to run this set up. Tires, wheels, spacers, lug nuts for spacers, and locking Gorilla chrome wheel lugs with key. Price for all is $500. Contact me via email at landbrooks@msn.com or text or phone 720-289-0397.

Farewell to my old friend
For the past several weeks my one owner 79 280zx has been listed for sale in the classifieds section. It sold a few days ago and I must admit I had a tear in my eyes as I watched it drive away, knowing that in all likelyhood, I'll never see it again. I had envisioned that it would be sold to a local here in Colorado, that I would still get occasional glimpses of it and that it might even be involved in our local Z Car Club. Today, it is in a shipping container on its way to a new owner in Saudi Arabia. I know car guys and gals are the same worldwide - whether they're in England, Australia, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, The U.S. or Saudi Arabia, we are a world wide fraternity with a common interest in our cars. If only car guys were running all of the governments, i'm sure we would have a much more peaceful world to live in. Thanks to all who viewed my ad and to the ones who contacted me about my car. So goodby to my little white ZX and it's on to the restoration of my 72 240Z. Larryb

I'm close to sending my 72 240Z w/auto out for body work and paint. Was pretty set that it would go back to it's original 918 Orange. Your photos reassure me that I'm making the right choice. Beautiful!

240z On Velocity Channel Friday 9/14@9P.M.et.
NVZEE - To my knowledge, Wheeler Dealers has not done a Z program. I joined their website and made the suggestion that they do a Z car. I noticed that there was one other suggestion for a Z. Perhaps if we get enough Z fans lobbying on the Wheeler Dealer web site they may undertake the project. I have no doubt that Ed China could fit his 6" 7" frame into a Z! Larryb

240z On Velocity Channel Friday 9/14@9P.M.et.
Carl - I'm in the Denver area and got the program through Comcast on the Velocity channel. All in all, it spoke well for the 240Z. I could live with the electronic ignition install but the carbon fiber hood, bumpers and rear spoiler - Sacrilage!! Although that can easily be brought back to original. The "motorcycle mechanic" owner seemed a little dumbstruck by what was going on and I don't think he'd given too much thought to what should be done to his car. When they took it out for a test drive and really kicked it, that Magnaflo exhaust sounded wonderful. I admit, the Z did look pretty sharp with what they did to it. The question is, should it have been done that way and not left as original? To each his own. Larryb

Posting photos with a classified ad
Mike - I rescaled a photo to 1280 pixcells and still got the error message "unacceptable file format" which is jpeg - go figure. Anyway, I posted my Craigslist ad URL to my ad so people can link to that to see the photos of my car. Time to call it a day and pull the cork on a nice bottle of Merlot. Thanks, larryb

Posting photos with a classified ad
Thanks Mike, The size of the files does not seem to be the problem. My photos are in the 2 - 3 MB each range and the ad can accept up to 128 MB of photos. The error message says it is not an "acceptable format". My photos were taken with my iphone and uploaded to "my library - pictures", jpeg format on my computer. They uploaded without a problem to my Craigslist ad. Larryb

Posting photos with a classified ad
I've posted an ad through the Classifieds site but have been unable to include my jpeg photos with the ad. I get an error message saying that is an unacceptable file format. My photos are in "my pictures" library of Windows. Any suggestions? Thanks, Larryb 79 280 AZ and 72 240Z

New to site
Joe, Hagerty is good because you can establish the actual value of the car and insure it for that. A commercial carrier will go from "book values" and you could end up taking it in the shorts if you suffer a loss. On the other hand, I would suggest talking with the carrier you use for your other cars and house. I found that my carrier, State Farm, would provide coverage for my 79 280ZX at a replacement value that I suggested. I do have all my vehicles and two houses insured with them and I've been with State Farm for nearly 50 years so they may have given me some slack. The coverage is less cost than Hagerty.

My first Z!
That's a great find - and look at the original hubcaps. Starting with a decent original and complete car can make the restoration a smoother process.

How long will the average L28 live?
My 79 280 ZX (I'm original owner) has 215,000 miles. The head has never been off. I did a compression test 10 years ago and everything checked out. Over the last 10 years I've done 2 track days per year - really pushing it to the limit and it still runs great. Engine oil has always been changed before each track event so it probably never goes more than a 1000 miles betrween oil changes. I also keep the valves properly adjusted. It also has rhe original fuel injectors. I run a can of BG44K through it once a year. Good maintenance begets longevity.
