so i was asked...
Sorry for the diversion, but did you need spacers to fit those wheels? Something like that would look great on my vette.

Wheel comparison
Remember that any +12 offset mags won't fill the guards out as nicely. Even with 235's on there it still sits in. Plus the 14 inch tyres aren't as available anymore. (Well around her anyway) My 280zx 6spokes sit pretty close to the stock brake calipers, so I don't know how they would go after an upgrade. The Jellybeans look good, but they will always look dated on the car, especially in 14 inch.

need advise on spring/strut combos!
I've got ST springs and Tokico struts (non-adjustable) They give a nice firm ride around the place, but there is still a bit of bodyroll happening with a fat front sway bar (22-24mm can't remember) and no rear bar. But if you hit a rough patch of road that's been rutted by trucks and patched potholes and such, it really shakes the car.

Wheel nut thread depth
That sounds pretty reasonable to me. Might have to pull off the old wheel and check it out.

Have a Top Australia Day!
I've been back in the Aussie summer for 2 weeks now. Gee it's hot. Just went out to the local secret rock pools with 5 carloads of friends and we swam and had a picnic lunch. Then all set for a BBQ tonight. Didn't you get a public holiday Richard?

Wheel nut thread depth
I know this was discussed in another thread, but I cannot find it now. If you run newer alloy wheels and the wheel studs don't come out through to surface of the wheel nuts, how many turns of thread is safe for a street car that see's some spirited driving. The wheel nuts i have are deeper than the stock ones. Basically, I'm lazy and don't want to pull the rear stub axles to install longer studs. But if it comes to it, I may just have to. But this takes the car off the road for a short period and it might get attacked by the WIAI virus. This could be a problem for a car that I drive to work every day. Cheers Scott

Stolen Corvette Found 37 Years Later
Then there was the guy who bought a Torana shell from a NZ racer. The racer had got the shell new from the factory, but never fitted it out and this guy bought it 25 or so years later and bought it back to Australia. Turned it into a nice car, but then had to explain to the Dept of Transport why he had a 30 year old car that had never been registered before and wasn't on their records anywhere.

Stolen Corvette Found 37 Years Later
This story broke just after I left the US. At the time I had a black corvette stingray convertible going into a container to be shipped back home, and was a little concerned until I was sure it wasn't mine. I bet that bloke would be amazed to get it back. The car has a big block bonnet, so I wonder if it was a big block car? Nice.

L.A. members -- OFF TOPIC
I don't think we will ever catch up to the US with the number of Starbucks (those things are everywhere it's ridiculous), but they are trying. Every time you turn around another one springs up. Don't joke about the skippies slapping cars with their tails. I have a ding in the front of my Z where a mother and joey decided to cross the road one morning. Plus I had a medium sized huntsman living in the Z for a few weeks too. It would run around the dash and the A pillar as it pleased. I actually saw the ad's for Australia while I was in New York. Thought it was funny.

At last, a 280ZX two seat coupe
Good to hear. I came accross one in the US that was straight with a fresh (slightly dodgey) respray, with overspray on the window rubbers and whatnot. Don't know what it was hiding, but it looked nice. It seemed overpriced though, and I forgot about it until now. Nothing like waiting for a car to arrive. If the wheels poke out of the guards and need flares to cover them, then I'd possibly be interested in them too, so I'll join the queue.

hey all you aussies !!!
I left BC a week ago, and I understand why you would want to move back. Nice place to snowboard though. Just not too sure about the 8:30 sun rises and the 4:30 sunsets. Add $7-800 to the import dollars for the Aussie customs clearance too. Save the import price and add it to the money from selling yours and buy one here. They are probably a little cheaper here conpared to over there, considering the exchange rate and all that. Cars have to be 30 years old to register LHD too, so a 1976 is good, but any newer and you will have to wait a year or so or convert it. Keep your stick on the ice, and remember, we're all pulling gor you. (sorry, but I've been watching Red Green in Canada. Haven't seen it back home for a year or two now )

280z or international scout
So, if the other car sharing my garage is a TR7, do I become king of oddball cars??
-
280z or international scout
OK, anyone else bags the Scout and I'll park mine on the bonnet of their Z!! LOL

Cheap parts car !! Oh yes it is very cheap for what it is Great nick front quarters!!
I need a front left guard bad. Some random tagged mine in a carpark in Palmy and did a runner. Bent it up in the arch pretty good, making it rather hard to straighten. Only thing is I'm in the US till mid January. I wouln't want a whole car though, I only just got rid of my last parts car. Are you selling as a whole only, or parting it out?

Stiffen and strengthen! HOW?
You should search hybridz for chassis connectors. there are some good pics and that would add a fair bit of rigidity to the car. Good luck with it.

Has anyone bought from here?
I got the local tyre shop to see if he could get a price before I left, but he couldn't even get hold of the queensland supplier in the two weeks before I left. Didn't know what happened to him. I'm in Texas at the moment, and will be heading towards California over the next two weeks, so I'm trying to pick up a set here in the US, before I head home. Along with a few other things....

Has anyone bought from here?
I'm actually chasing a set of American Racing Ansen Sprints. A 17'' set of jelly bean mags would look great on my Z. MSA have then but for way too much money ($1200aus) but barrier tyre are less than $800aus. Big difference. Centreline have a good bunch at a reasonable price too though.

Has anyone bought from here?
Jumped on the plane at midday in Brisbane, direct flight to LA X. It's now 12 hours later, and I'm in a hotel room in......Sydney. 5 hours in, they had troubles with an engine, shut it down and turned back. Let's hope tomorrow is better.

Has anyone bought from here?
http://www.barretire.com Has anyone bought wheels from these guys? How long did they take to deliver? Were there any problems? From tomorrow, I will be in the US for 2 months so I want to try pick up some wheels. Just sussing out a few places. Cheers Scott

Have you seen the new MSA mag wheels?
I like that look. Gives it a good old school look, with the big diameter. I wonder what offset they are?

Which MP3 Player?
If you are playing it through a car stereo, 64 kbps will sound bad. Stick to 128kbps. I have a 1gig ipod shuffle, and it currently has 290 songs on it at 128bkps, which is about 15-17 hours worth. Every few days, I plug it into the computer and refresh the songs from the playlists I have set up in iTunes. I listen to it at work all day. Cheaper, but less options. It all comes down to what you want.

Will ya miss me ????

Umm Hi Hi
Hi all. I guess I'm one of the blokes who is lucky enough to drive the Z every day. Seems strange that I have a '"special" car that I pull out of the garage for the weekend. And it gets more looks than the Z. Not as fast though. I would have thought the dry winter months would see more driving, rather than the rainy summer months?
