Thanks guys, appreciate the input. Guess it's "back to the drawing board". :tapemouth

I just measured all parts of the door, and they all match up fine. I'm not sure what year car these doors came off of. The only differences are the strikers, and the top bracket on my CAR has 2 holes, and the DOORS have 3 holes. Could there be a chance I could swap "skins" of the doors if I can't get the striker issue resolved?

Hi all. I just got back from picking up my doors I won on ebay. Funny thing, the strikers are different. Those that are on the car are the round ones, the ones on the new doors are the slotted kind. Now, I have spent too much money and time just to toss them. Is there a way I can take the slotted striker off that year of car and apply it to my Z, or would I have to fab me a set? I plan to use door poppers and shave the handles so most of the handle hardware will not be used. I need some options. Thanks :tapemouth

Turbo motor found and doors are being sent. Thanks for everyone who replyed. Now, I am looking for a good condition 1975 280Z vented hood, or just the vents. My vents have no studs to mount them to the hood. Thanks.

Okay, okay... I get it, I won't put them on my car! I had thought they wouldn't look right, but I just wanted to get other people's input before I totally got rid of the idea. Thanks for your thoughts!

That is true, But I just think that the car would not look right with the door in the air. I'd do it, but I woulden't want to catch flack for doing it.

I am having a time with this topic. A buddy of mine was looking in Import Tuner Mag. and he saw the Lambo door kit for only $999.95. I asked him if he was going to put them on his car. He said no, and that it would look "pimp" if I could do it to my 240Z. I looked at him like he had crabs coming out of his ears. "No way in hell am I going to do that to my car. I am already pushing it with the shaved door handles and plexiglass sail windows. What more do you want?" We argued for a couple of hours. I think, if I wanted my doors to open like a Lamborghini I would have gotten a Lamborghini...right? What say the forum? Thanks

Alright man. I'll have to do my homework when I get ready to do this. Should be around the end of January. I want to get my new turbo engine installed, and not to mention a lot of other things...i.e. shaved doors. I just want to do my own thing. Couldent hurt to try? :nervous:

Dogma, I live in Florida where it is quite humid. My digital camera was in a 73 degree house and went to a 88 degree w/ 98% humidity ( or something like it) anyway, the camera fogged up. Kinda like when a person who has glasses walks from inside his house to outside where the weather is humid. Sorry. I'll erase them and post new ones for you. I'm not mad, I liked the joke. It does look like it's in a fish tank, though! By the way; does my diff have the LSD? Just woundering. Thanks

  12. Well, I ca tell you that I too am new to the turbo engine. You would need to do some homework on this. Check out zhome.com and do a search for "Stealth Z" and "Turbo L28 engine in an early Z." Scroll down the left side of the webpage. I know of a couple of things, but this should give you some info. Good luck.

Well, when I got my Z, she was not running. I called her "Baby." When she would turnover but not run, My wife called her "Harlet." Then I got her to run. The guy I got the car from had some body parts, including a new hood. It was a hood from a 280Z with the vents. I sprayed it black and installed it. She looked like the 432R. That was when I called her "Fairlady" or "Lady" for short. Now I have changed the name once more, this will be the final name. "Jennie" after my wife. She helped me get the turbo engine I was looking for. So her full name is "Jennie, The Fairlady." The bunny means it will be quick like a rabbit.

Well, all I can say is that I'll watch the show, but I probably wont take things they say to heart. Would like to see how the Z(X) :: does in the race. What do you think the engine will be? Turbo, EFI, or Carbs? Should be amusing to see how many mistakes they make.
  15. I was planning the same thing. I was going to go with the Summit Racing battery box and vent it out the side....wait, I have a Optima Red Cap....Do I still need to vent? It is a sealed battery. I don't see why. Running the cabels will be a pain though. Also, has anyone exsperamented with the Ground Earth wire set by Apex-i? They say you will gain some horsepower by having everything grounded to it. Any opinions?
  16. Where would I be without you man. I had planned to put a fuelcell in the place of the OEM tank. I heard I need to change tanks anyway. I'll check with Summit Racing and see what they have. :rambo:
  17. So, if I know the size of the hose, I can get these for a Turbo L28? That would be nice, but does another company make braided fuel lines, Carl?

  19. Wish I had known this earlyer. I had to hunt down a new/ used drain plug because I snaped the old one in two. The other half was still in the radiator. This really sucked.

Goodmorning all, I hope I haven't done that to anyone. If I have, please tell me and I will gladly remove it. Thanks :rambo:

What if I were to put a MSD ignition modual on the turbo engine, it calls for the Blaster 2 coil, (I don't want to sound stupid!) is the coil too much for the NGK Irridium plugs and Tyson 8.0mm wires. Better yet, what if I went MSD all the way with the spark wires. Should not be a problem then, right? Need an opinion. Thanks :rambo:
  23. You have a very valid point, Carl. That is why I am going to go with the Illumina strut. You can adjust the setting in seconds. My car will probably not see a circut track, but atleast I can run around town with some good cornering and lower center of gravity, plus it will make the car look really mean. :devious: (the little things)
