good news guys! grills and spoilers
Ahh, the way of the Datsun! Long and rusty processes for all! Shame it's not a hardtop, though like you say, fairly thin on the ground. hence why i said there would be people I know of very keen to see it if it was one, Will being one of them, another chap by the nickname spottedlaurel would be another. He has a couple of 210's. You should pop over to www.retro-rides.com as well if you're not on there already, as well as www.datman.co.uk/phpBB2

good news guys! grills and spoilers
Hey there! Firstly, Welcome to the forum. Secondly, what type of C110 is it you have? I know the Hardtop is a rare beast in the UK so if you do have a hardtop version I know of several people who would be very interested in having a look. If you have any more queries, just ask. We're a fairly friendly bunch on here.

sakijo, I'm fairly certain both Aoshima and Fujimi do 1/24 plastic kitset GC10's. Would you like me to get you some part numbers?

Wikipedia Authors?
SDU has some horrific inaccuracies in it's "History" page. Such a shame, especially when a major local import performance magazine uses said page as a base for a GT-R history article and thusly helps spread the ignorance to a non-Internet fan base. Brilliant. Just, Brilliant.

Dash Pad replacements
Don't use Silicone based products they're no good. There's a few dressing type products about that you can use to condition the vinyl that do not contain silicone, those are the ones you're after.

Someone's famous!
Ben, good old faithful Ben! Good work man. It's MY car!!!   They probably lifted the picture from the old www.datsunworld.com website, which is now archived on www.datman.co.uk. A direct link can be found here... http://www.datman.co.uk/datsunworld/c110/c110.htm Familiar?

Electronic Igniton on 240k
There's quite a few of them littered about the wiring so you might not notice any difference at all. Re: The coil, the difference between them is the points ones can't handle a full 12V or the points themselves would burn out. So they spark at something like 6 or 8V, the electronic is a full 12V, so your current points coil won't be giving MAXIMUM SPARK! etc. Which basically means it won't be burning the fuel as efficiently as perhaps it could. ...I think

Electronic Igniton on 240k
Ideally Lachlan you need to run the electronic dizzy's coil because of the voltage differences between the two (points and electronic), yes it will and should sound nicer and rev a lot more freely than before, I know mine certainly did when I changed it over (all them years ago ) The "small cylinder" is basically to stop electronic noise interference with your radio, capacitor or condensor or resistor, buggered if I can think properly at the moment but it will do no physical harm whether it's attached or not.

Return of my car

Datsun 240k Gl 1977 Needing Advice Or Feedback?
Although not binding to anything due to it being a diecast, I stumbled across this just tonight whilst searching for something else entirely and as I say, being a diecast it doesn't exactly prove anything here nor there, but I found it interesting giving the current conversation none the less;

Datsun 240k Gl 1977 Needing Advice Or Feedback?
Alan, something along those lines (in regards to where it was situated), I'm unsure of specifics and it didn't really go into much in the magazine. I have scanned and uploaded the small mention of it though. You can see what I mean about the damage on the front left quarter.

Datsun 240k Gl 1977 Needing Advice Or Feedback?
I know the early L4 covers had 'DATSUN OHC' sometimes even 'DATSUN 1600 OHC' however, much like Mr. Camo, I have never seen nor heard of a L6 with 'DATSUN' lettering. Alan, In regards to the Prince Skyline you posted, my apologies, I assumed it belonged to a friend of yours in the UK and I had recently been talking to other UK Datsun fanatics about a Prince Skyline GT shown in a UK magazine from the 80's that I have here.

Datsun 240k Gl 1977 Needing Advice Or Feedback?
Perhaps it's substancially different over here than it is over there. Here, most people know of or about the C10 but know nothing of the C110 so, yes, here I would say the average punter does know that the C10 GT-R was the first GT-R. I agree that the 240K is probably growing in popularity because of the rep of the later GT-R's, I would say what's also a large factor is the fact that the C110 was finally included in the GT series of games so people who don't necessarily have a wide knowledge of cars or access or interest in the internet know now that there was a C110 GT-R and can compare it to the 240K.

Datsun 240k Gl 1977 Needing Advice Or Feedback?
Yes they were sold as Nissan's, they weren't exported anywhere in great numbers (if at all) but the first Nissan GT-R was the C10, previous to the C10 and the closest thing to a GT-R was the S54B (2litre SOHC Straight 6 with Triple Webbers) and they were sold as Prince Skyline's.

Got my car back
The red looks awesome dude, I recall seeing the pictures of the car getting the RB in it, a friend of mine was in a workshop in Auckland and stumbled across it and let me know, that seems like ages ago now. Are you registered on www.datsun.co.nz ? Should jump on there, I'm sure there's a few guys from there that aren't on here that would be very keen to see your car.

Datsun 240k Gl 1977 Needing Advice Or Feedback?
No it wasn't The PGC10 was the first Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R, the KPGC10 was the second (although still in the same series just 2 instead of 4 doors) and the KPGC110 was the third, the C110 being exported and sold as the 240K in both HGC110 and KHGC110 forms, also the later C210 was sold as a 240K though never came in a GT-R variant at all.
