The rich are getting richer.....
Well to say capitalism works is of course just as foolish as saying communism works, when we know capitalism works well for some and that is the truth of it, some it just works for and others it leaves in the dust. Being of a more socialist mind myself I don't really agree with capitalism, and what most people are complaining about is part and parcel of what a capitalist state provides. I guess the world has come to measure the success of an ideology by a countries wealth or its GNP or whatever. I guess I don't see the point since those people may not be any happier and since we are all mortal what does it matter how much of something we have? Don't get me wrong I find socialism hard to embrace like many I have wants and wishes but expectation and desire cause suffering as was displayed in the post that started the thread. I know almost no one agrees with me but I think it's best to limit ones wants and expectations in life because the more we are able to rid ourselves of these the better quality of life we live, perhaps it's not a long life but happiness is the key to quality not longevity. Basically money is just a drug the more you have the more you want it, such is the way of the world today. I don't claim to be any better than anyone else but I'm working on it. Remember life is suffering, suffering is caused by desire, suffering can be overcome. Of course I'll save you the 4th noble truth because I don't want to sound preachy and we can all choose our own paths in life can't we.

Ford 9" Rear End
Thanks for the info, Darius' site was actually what inspired me to persue this endevour further. Although his documentation is not exactly flawless, the other link that was posted was helpful as well, I might end up using a 300zx lsd, that is if I can find one around these parts.

Ford 9" Rear End
Jag seems overly expensive and difficult at least the Jag diff I saw posted didn't do anything for me. A holden diff would be fine if I lived in Aus but I don't so the chances of finding one would be small. I have thought of taking one from a 300zx, I just want to make sure that what I am getting will be able to hold the power of a supercharged LT1. Since I'm going the chev route on the engine maybe I should look into a chev diff, thanks for the suggestions.

Ford 9" Rear End
Ford rear ends? How much work is required to put a 9" ford rear end in a 73' 240z? Obviously I am having it done at a shop I am just wondering how extensive it would be and if it is too extensive is there a better rear end for this car that will hold some serious power?

73' Z Problem Areas
Thanks that was very informative most of that stuff I wasn't even thinking of, I am planning on keeping the engine initially but I may sell it when a nice LT1 comes up for sale, which I already know there is.

73' Z Problem Areas
I'm thinking of replacing some of the body paneling anyways over time but it would be nice to have something rust free while I wait. Going to put some large fender flares for some bigger tires, I know the purists will be banging on my door but that's my choice. Anyways thanks for the pointers never purchased a car this old before so I am trying hard to avoid a lemon.

73' Z Problem Areas
I'm going to check out my first Z car in a few days, the guy is asking a fair bit of money for it and says it's in real nice shape. He wants about 8,000 CDN for it. My question is where are the problem areas and what should I watch out for, I suppose most of you have done body work or seen problems on other Z's, just looking for some pointers.

When they call domestics at the drag races they should change the name and say Mustangs and others, because Mustangs are just so bloody easy to work with. I don't really like mustangs but it's always been a successful name and you have to hand it to ford for that one.

My new Z
BC cars don't usually take that much of a beating because our winters here are fairly mild, at least in the lower mainland. That said it is still a really fine looking car, I'm actually looking for a 70ish 240z in BC know of anyone who wants to sell. I have found on add for a decent one.

Besides the Zcar, what are your favorite cars?
Well I just started getting into the Z car craze maybe I am at the tail end of some sort of rise in the popularity of late model Z's 69-78. Well as for some of my other favorites, let's start with cars I will probably never own: Classics: Ferrari 250 53'-63' 1939 Bugatti Type 59-50B Monoposto Present: Keonigsegg S8 Ferrari F50, Modena 360 Lamborghini Murcielago 1994 Bugatti EB110 GT 2002 Bugatti 16/4 Veyron Cars I might own: Audi S4 BMW M3. M5 RX-7 Turbo II, Gen3 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 Toyota MR2 Ultima Can-Am or GTR Some of these have turbo's and I have begun to grow tired of turbos and want some v8 power and a supercharger.

Buying my first Z
Actually I am a big fan of Darius' car but he is using the LT1 motor which is half the price of the LS1 at least it is as far as prices I can find in the local trader for motors. I suspect it has to do with the LS1 being an aluminum block. Guess I'll check with my buddy who is a Nissan mechanic and see if they will do the swap for me at the Z-shop.

Buying my first Z
Found this add and I'm going to check out the car very soon: 73 DATSUN 240Z, this is the one, over $12,000 invested, body is all metal, eng is brand new, 280 block bored w flat-top pistons, new 5 spd, v gd example, have manuals $8000. Tel: Sounds great in fact I think I might have seen this car before but I'll have to call the guy to find out, and get some pics. I'm planning on driving the car for a bit and then doing an engine swap on it. Since I have given up on trying to get a 300Z NA supercharged or at least no one thinks it's a good idea and since I don't own one I might as well look for something else to do. So I'm thinking of swapping in a chev 350 which I know has been done many times before! My questions is should I use a newer LT1, LS1 engine or use something older. I'm planning on Supercharging it anyways so any input would be great. I have about 24k for the initial investment with more cash coming.
