  1. May be something as simple as a torn valve guide seal. Has that been mentioned and pulled apart to check? If in fact oil fouled. Can be done with head on.
  2. If that plug is indeed carbon fouled instead of oil fouled then we need to see the cap and wires. Close up of inside of cap as well as exterior of cap. An Ohm meter reading of all wires from cap inside terminal to end of plug wire. Post reading for all 6.
  3. I think one of the members here bought one of their Z's. Sight unseen. Had it shipped to him. Was not really as advertised. He posted here he pulling the dash all apart to fix. We have not heard from him for a while now. Z was supposed to be a runner but was not when he got it. From what I remember.
  4. It seems that all the replacement interior diamond vinyl I see installed is like that. Are all the kits really that bad? That is a no go for me.
  5. Sale ended at $21,500. That seems to be a steal if that is accepted.
  6. Thanks Carl. Good to know. That is my exact car including red interior. My build date is earlier. 2/72.
  7. Nice looking 72 240 here. Almost giving it away at $10K so far. https://www.hagerty.com/drivers-club/my-garage/marketplace/auction/DzfUha63TM1NP6Xh42OSh
  8. So did you replace the valve seals? I think I would have by now. New does not mean they got installed correctly. I believe if oil fouled, it is coming from the head. Also again just number 4 cylinder or all 6?
  9. That is the correct position to put a Z on a lift. There is no other way.
  10. So we stripped the 50 year old chrome off the front and rear bumpers for prime and paint. It appears that the fronts were actually made in 3 pieces and welded together. Totally surprised. I wonder if anyone ever knew this.
  11. 1979 Photo.
  12. Installed a set of Toyota calipers as shown on my 72. I really like them. Way better braking. Still using the rear drums and stock master cylinder. A little lower pedal but you get used to it quickly. I would not go back to the stock caliper myself.
  13. Maybe this MSD 8830 noise filter can help if you suspect that issue. When running a MSD ignition it does the following. When the MSD draws current, it will draw through the Noise Filter instead of directly from the battery, so all other accessories that operate off 12 volts, like the radio, fuel pump, or the engine computer, will be unaffected by the MSD.
  14. To cover flaws in chambers.
  15. Gotta love it when people change the cars color and do it only half way. The good news is it will be easier to repaint back to red. Although still expensive. https://www.ebay.com/itm/334381826608
  16. Available if you can use them. I do not have any part numbers on them.
  17. Yes that is correct. Here in the US before they offered a Z 5 speed we took the bellhousing off the 240Z 4 speed and put it on the roadster 5 speed.
  18. I have a new second gear for a FS5C71B. Cheap. What gearbox is yours?
  19. If you purchased the 1.5 ohm or the 3 ohm coil will determine if you use the ballast resistor. The rest is pretty straight forward. My tach works just fine.
  20. I also have an original kit still in package. I may have some duplicated depending on cost.
  21. I seem to remember there being a gold colored kit for the root beer colored cars.
  22. This one just sold for over $100K. Nice. https://www.hemmings.com/auction/1971-datsun-240z-883659?fbclid=IwAR0hVKsk24dcp2jaHbCDk8kxKv30YbKtFpGs6G3xG51f1rD7aInJSHVmVfE
  23. This is how mine turned out. I used clear gloss. I think it would be more correct with a semi gloss.
  24. Paddock at Road America.
