I saw dhayes5 post on his radiator and was reminded of what I experienced on my 72 240. It has already been 10 years ago but my temp guage would creep up to the hot range when pushing it on the highway. It would start between 60 and 65 and creep up the faster I went. In slow traffic on even a hot day the car was always in the normal range. That did not make sense so I was thinking I was having a waterpump problem at higher speeds. I did have small seepage on the top radiator tank for a while. I had seen many Z's with same leak. I decided to take tank in to a shop for repair. He called me and said their flow test showed a calulated 65% blockage. The core was shot! I am glad they tested it or I would have put the repaired pice of crap back in car. There was my highway problem. I had them recore with a triple core and the guage has never moved past half since. Even flat out in 5th gear. Moral is if you bring in radiator for repair get a flow test also unless they automatically do it. Oh, it was $200 but I got to retain the origional radiator.

Darrin, Remember if your ride ht. has changed you must have your toe in reset. Also I have the stock 280 front bar on my 72. they are not as big as you mentioned. I had one of those bigass front aftermarket bars and it tore the mounts right out of the frame. I was autocrossing a lot. Pissed me off at the time. The rear one I have is the type that mounts forward.

I have a set of the origional Mulholland springs I took off my car. You can have all 4 for $20. They have been sitting in my garage for 15 years or more. They had a good ride and did not lower the car much as I recall.
  7. From my same experience it also helped to flush out the clutch master and slave with fresh fluid. Also inspect flex hose to slave to make sure it is not soft and swollen with age. If you do not get full release on your pressure plate and the disc drags even a little you will get those "notchy" feeling shifts. What you did so far is good. It is not always a syncro problem. Make sure the whole clutch release system is in good shape first.

Still got the air pump hooked up? Remove the belt and try it out. If you do have a exhaust leak it will detonate in exhaust even if all the other settings are correct. All the exhaust detonations I ever had on cars were traced to an exhaust leak.

Actually if you look underneath and look at the pipeing diagram in the manual you will see the left rear is farthest. I still do not think it makes any difference though. Never have . All my cars brakes and clutches are gravity bled.
  10. Marty, A freind of mine with a 72 Z installed the same springs and his car ended up higher. They did not 'settle'. He cut the springs either 1 or 1-1/2 in. to get the height he desired. Like 2manyZ said in his reply my 72Z also sat lower in the rear with aftermarket springs. I have never been happy with that so I will be cutting my front springs to get the setting I want. When I get done the rear end will be approx. 1/2 in. higher than the front. I personally do not like look of a level Z.
  11. Definately not minilites. Minilites also has name on outside of wheel.
