That reminds me I taught my sister to drive a stick with my first car, an Austin Healy. Thankfully the clutch held up. On that car you pull the motor to change the clutch. I just had to have that car. My dad said no problem, you pay for it and I just only co-sign your loan. You miss any payments the bank owns it. Forget help from me he said. That was incentive to always keep a job to pay for it. He was a hard nose Norwegian. Good learning experience.

Likely a used battery he put in for testing the engine. We really don't know its condition. A load test would tell. Also did you see he just set the battery cable on the post to start it? Its not even tightened yet.
  7. That's great. They should keep you busy and out of trouble for a long time. Didn't know you had two 69's. I have my hands full with just one Z. And some of you guys have several Z's.

I am going to take a guess that this car was built for autocrossing judging on what you found so far. Engine mods, flywheel, shocks, ST springs etc. But the main thing that makes me think this is the Centerline wheels. Back in the day when I was heavy into it, all the fast guys liked that particular wheel as it was the lightest one at the time. Check the steering knuckles for the Datsun Comp short quick steer ones. Those are keepers. Put stock ones on for resale. Also check to see if it has a limited slip differential.
  9. This is the later E88 head I plan to use. Back from machine shop with all new OEM valves.
  10. Yes these are original equipment. I purchased them when they were still available. The person rebuilding the motor wanted me to get these.
  11. Took a photo of one of the buckets that are going in. Yup, they have eyebrows. Indicate the taller piston?
  12. Yes, I hear you. That is the only way to do it. My rebuild got stopped in its tracks a while ago. My builder developed cancer from agent orange. It has also badly damaged his heart and lungs. The chemo was pretty aggressive. He can hardly lift a simple wrench anymore. I will be going to plan B once I figure it out.
  13. The head i planned to use is an E88 from a 260Z. It has been ported and shaved .020. I still have the original 72 E88 head as well. I will dig out the pistons and measure.
  14. I plan to put my numbers matching L24 back in the car. This I think will help to sell it. In doing so I had the block bored out and fitted with .040 pistons. P/N 12010-H2716. Not sure now if these are going to extend above the block deck. I am also not sure what they mean by 'these items are not interchangeable.

If that previous owner dropped in that L28 with the P90 head bone stock then it really was not much of an upgrade anyway. May he had a bad L24 and put that engine in. It is nothing more than a bigger cubic inch motor with low compression. Complete waste of time. Unless he just needed a replacement motor.
  16. Probably. Road America does not have a corner worker station like that shown anywhere on the track. At any time ever.
  17. Still have my 1977 Road Atlanta stub. Lost a lot of the photos over the years unfortunately.
  18. Group 44 build one TR250 and two TR6's. The TR250 later had TR6 sheet metal put on it. We don't know for sure what car this is. The PLN car was purchased and returned to the Group 44 livery. Another person built and has been racing a clone with this livery.
  19. Not Road America. I have worked all the left hand turns there.

Thanks I just may get my Z a Christmas present. He does have them back in stock now. Not sure if a local aluminum foundry is making them. Or from overseas. Will look nice when the car goes on BaT

Anyone here have the cast aluminum oil pan sold by Arizona Z Car? Any issues? Does it fit well with clearances. Been eyeing this up for some time.

Has anyone ever tried upgrading the 240Z master cylinder to the 15/16 master cylinder using the stock calipers? I have Hawk HPS pads. I just never liked the cold street grip no matter what pad I used. A 20 minute track session is fine where you get some heat in the pads. Getting a 240Z to work more like any newer daily driver you might have is what I want.
