This head pipe connects to stock 240Z exh. manifold and replaces the stock one. This will allow you to convert to a 21/2" system. Used from my own car. $25.00 plus shipping.

You can also make pins from a wire coat hanger. The heavy guage type not those flimsy white ones.

I had the exact same condition. I did all the above suggestions and still ran hot on highway only. I finally pulled radiator and took to rad. shop. He called me back and said it was so plugged it was beyond being cleaned. They recored it (tripple) and temp. has been perfect ever since. That happened when mine was 26 yrs old, same as yours.

The ad says car has leather seats. Is that what they put on the restored Z's?

Welcome I remember you being a frequent poster at Zcar.com. Have you finally got tired of all the children over there? Hopefully so. I think you will find this site more informative. And Mike shuts us down if we get too out of hand. But we do like to have fun!

Sure you can test a capacitor. Just do what the mechanics did when I worked at a dealership. They always kept one charged up by pulling a plug wire and put it on the capacitor wire. Then when a salesman from up front wandered in back they would hand it to him. After the salesman had it in his hand it took about 2 seconds for him to touch the wire end while holding the body. When he was knocked on his arse you know it was good. 35K volts. Great fun! After awhile they learned to stay up front in the showroom.
  21. For my 5 speed I purchased the factory leather knob from a 280ZX. It is excellent quality and has silver face with black pattern lettering. Those wooden ones are near impossible to find. The old Datsun Comp. Dept. used to have them in their catalog.

Your right Pancho, I think you got stroked. Heck, the stock 280's I have driven even with a stick were lucky to even get to the red line.
