Lightened flywheel
There is another option I was recently reading about. If you can find a Datsun 810 or Maxima L24 flywheel, it is 17.6 pounds compared to the 24 pound Z flywheel. I have not done it myself. Just passing on info.

Wheel Studs
To answer your question. Yes, the rear studs are longer. And yes you can put them in the front. We did that to my Z.

15 or 16 X 10's
Try Irv Hoerr's company. www.hrpworld.com Cliff Ebben SCCA GT1 champion uses some of their stuff. Got to wheels and click on the R6 series. They are aluminum and they will make any bolt pattern and size. I think they are fairly reasonable considering other light weight custom wheels. I have not used them myself but they probably can give you some customer names.

The cop I didn't see
I just read the post below mine about the cop that was not noticed. I remember that happening to me. I was heading home late one evening froma buddies house where we were working on his Triumph. It was a cool summer evening and the Z was running perfect. I had recently installed tripple mikuni's and a 4:11 limited slip diffy. I had gotten rid of carb bog by putting in a smaller choke size. Now when you hit the throttle it was instant! I was also running only the horns, no air cleaners. Very loud. Didn't have any cleaners anyway. I pull up to a main 4 way stopto turn left. About 5 seconds later a 77 or 78Z pulls up real fast to my right. I am first so I pull out and start to turn left. All of a sudden I could hear all this noise as the 280 pulls out full blast to try to beat me thru the intersection. Little do I know at the time a cop is sitting back aways at the corner in a school parking lot. When the 280 got next to me I said no way and nailed it, car went sideways, then grabbed second up to 6500 and hit 3rd. It was no contest. I looked in my mirror. Red and blue lights. Damn! I pulled over. It was a young cop on nite shift. He goes you were going pretty fast there. I needed to think quick. So I said did you see that guy try to cut me off? If is wasn't for evasive action by me there could have been a accident. (what a bunch of BS, I know) He seemed to by it. Then he says is this a Datsun? What do you have in there, its really fast. I said would you like to see? He goes, yes can I? He pulls out his flashlight and says holy $^!# when he sees the mikuni's. I told him this was a rare competition model. Ha! We talked about cars and then he says take it easy on the way home. Could not believe it, no ticket and no jail time! I used up all my luck on that one! I try to be more observent now.

2400 Nissan Valve Cover?
Was at a car show last summer and there was a powder coating vendor there. He had a bunch of valve covers he did on display. On was that early Z cover. I would have purchased it, only problem was it was orange! Not for my color scheme. It was really nice though. It also had a clear coat over it. He said to have my cover done would be $100.

Syncrometer
MSA right has their syncrometers selling at $29.95 right now. That is as cheap as I have seen them. I own one myself for use on my mikuni carbies and I love it. You need one of these.
