My '76 Z had the same problem when I bought it. What I ended up doing was checking connections along each section of the turn signal wiring, checking to see where I had a curcuit and where I didn't. I found that there was one segment of wire that ran through the dash where the connection was bad. Having narrowed it down to a single segment of wire, I then spliced in a new wire on eather side of the break and everything worked fine! It's not a totally pretty fix, but at least, i know there the problem is and fixed it in the most REALISTIC way possible. Goodluck with your troubleshooting.
  2. I actually already have their catalog, and I checked through their selection of antennas, but it seems all they have are the manual and automatic full size antennas. Perhaps you know something I don't. I attached an image of the general idea of what I'm looking for.
  3. Hey guys, I got myself a power antenna about a year ago, and it just decided to bite the bullet. Whenever I turn on the stereo, the antena makes one "click" type noise, but the motor does not run to push the antenna up. Same when i turn the stereo off. I'm tired of the extra hassle. I'm wondering if it's possible to get a stubby short rubber covered antenna like those seen on the 350Z or S2000 and use it on an early Z. I'm going to the Nissan dealership today to see if they can order an antenna, but if you guys know a little more than me, please let me know. However, I haven't seen anyone with that style of antenna on this forum yet, so, I might actually be the first to do something on a Z, yay! hehe. Any help or insight is greatly apreciated.
  4. It is posible to make the MSA front bar work, as long as you know just how to adjust it. Taking a hand file to the very top of the bar ends and a tiny area of the hood bracing is the easiest thing to do, and then shut the hood slowly. Then lightly press on the hood in the spot where the bar would touch the hood. If you can feel the hood flex and touch the bar, you're fine. If it wont move, it needs to be filed down a little more. Only after I bought both bars did I realize that, because the bars have flexable ends, the car isn't stiffened as much as it could be. Instead of keeping the car completely rigid, the ball-joint-esque ends on the bars allow the car to "parallelagram" around corners. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.
  5. I just put the MSA strut bars on my 280Z, front and rear. I found that on 280Z's, a bracket that supports the breather tube to the valve cover prevents the front brace from sitting competely flat, and must be bent down or removed to accomidate the brace. I also found that the brace touches the underside of the hood, and can dent it if the hood is slammed a little too hard. Using a file on the hood bracing and on the very top of the brace ends remedies this. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way and have a small reminder in the hood that I do have a front strut brace.

Awesome! I've always been a fan of rally racing. Post some pics of it if you can.
  7. I saw the show, and I happened to really enjoy it. Just because you wipe your car with a diaper every day doesn't mean you can't have some appreciation for an extremely talented group of fabricators and mechanics. I thought the car turned out quite nicely, though the striped paintjob done at the end was pretty lame. You've never seen a Honey Bee drift before, and that's exactly why they did what they did.

What about on a 280Z? I've really wanted to clean up my engine bay, and all those smog wires and valves are really hideous. If my car ever becomes smog exempt, what can I remove without disrupting the performance of my car?
  9. Yes, good point, mastering the racing drift is much different than the show drift. Two totally different animals. I think that's where a lot of confusion lies in the definition of the drift.
  10. Yeah, right behind Keiichi "drift king" Tsuchiya. He helped produce a DVD called the "drift bible" and he's also one of three judges for the D1 GP professional drifting championship. Just my two cents. Check out drifting.com to see more about the best drivers in drifting.
  11. I'll take a drifting competition over a burnout contest anyday, hehe...

  18. Hey 240Zdragon72, the game is in the states, and I've played it at the local arcade. Its pretty cool. Unfourtunatly you cannot play as the Z unless you beat the game, or if you know the code, which i happen to know, hehe. BTW, my car just got painted the shade of blue as the "devil z" from the game. I happen to prefer the "Initial D" game though, because its much more involved and you aren't just going straight. I have a blue Sileighty in that one...i figure its as close to the Z as i'll get in that game. Joey

Where is that exactly? I'd be willing to go, cause no body seems to care about getting together, hehe...sure, just a little more info might be useful.
  20. hehe hey 240Zdragon72, love your icon! thats from "wangan midnight" right? they made an arcade game of that, its pretty fun....
  21. Yes, it seems like many zx drivers are not enthusiasts, and just use their cars for transport, not entertainment. I always wave or give thumbs up to other z drivers, even if they aren't looking, hehe. just a little while ago I waved at a really fast 280z while i was driving my car to the shop to get her fixed!! hehe.

In "Tommy Boy" a 280zx pulls out of the motel parking lot where they're staying, and in the movie "Cammando" thers a really nice 280z in the parking garage of the mall. Many others...I've seen the one in "Top Gun" and "Bring It On" as well. Oh in "Ocean's 11" (the new one) when George Clooney and Matt Daymon are sitting at the table in the bar in Chicago, an orange ar goes by through the window that looks like a z. Also in "Back To The Future" theres a red 280z parked in front of the gymnastics building while Michael J. Fox gets pulled on his skateboard behind a truck. I know there are more, i just haven't found them yet.

  24. Hey thanks steve, next time i see your 280z, show me which hoses you take off. Nice to hear from you again!
  25. ouch...no replies....i guess its not too important, oh well...
