  1. Sorry to hear about that. I guess a requirement of having this plate would be to "have an alarm" Because no matter how much you love your car, someone else is likely to want it even more. Not likely for the same reason though. Dave
  2. If he built the car to sell, he should have known better than to put so much into it. It truly looks as if he thought expensive was better. That Polished aluminum Radiator costs $600 all by it self. It's a nice touch to compliment the engine compartment but for $45,000 he could have bought 75 of them. I guess my point is this.... If you want to win awards, you treat EVERY panel and part as if it is the only part being shown. If I was a judge, that air dam would have been his down fall. When you buy a house to "turn around" and sell, you put as little money into it as possible so the Profit margin allows you to do it again. I buy Z parts for cheap and put alot of love and time into them in order to make a profit. I just sold a set of 4-Screw SU's on an E88 intake with an E46? ballance tube and all emmisions removed, for $400 and I even installed it for the guy. I promise that I did'nt put any more than $25 worth of parts into it and the rest was ALL me (labor and time) The guy that bought the set-up said this, after He took it for a test drive.. "I was told that the Z's were fast when they're tuned correctly, but I had NO idea that they were this fast!!" So for a profit of $375, I helped bring another Z to life and made it's owner VERY happy with the results and proud to finally drive his teen-age dream car. (He's normally a Mustang guy but absolutely LOVES his Z now) SO, in final, Never put tons of cash into your Car and expect to make it back. Pride in ownership is the most important idea for any classic car owner. Don't have Obvious flaws that stand out (air dam to fender alignment) and expect to get away with it. I can't remember what my point was any more, Dave.
  3. Very nice, But NOT $45,000 nice. Maybe $20K but not 45. JM2CW, Dave.
  4. I always liked the "It's a Z thing" one cause every one seems to look at me like "what is it about that car that is SO special" or "what is it about THAT car that makes you so Giddy?" How about this one......
  5. We had a post similar to this one a while ago. When it was on the front page, I came up with a couple and some one else on the site submitted the basic plates. Here's my 3 comtributions. And a BLANK that you can use in "Paint" Dave. Put me down for 3 ( It's in Microsoft Paint)

It is motor oil. There is nothing stopping the oil from the front cover from getting in there. That's why the distributor has a rubber O-ring, to keep the oil from getting out of there and on to the outer block. The Dizzy neck should also have a gasket between it and the front cover. It's not a big deal unless that oil starts to get into the distributor. Most oil does'nt conduct or allow flow of electricity, so if that oil gets into the dist. then you'll have problems. So make sure the O-ring is good and put it back together. Dave.

These are a couple things I have on my computer, I've got better and bigger ones but would have to shrink 'em to post 'em. have fun, Dave. Zcar frames full rear view.BMP Zcar frames b and w better 2 resized.BMP
  9. Your knowledge is correct. I just haven't bought them seperately before. I know that the condensor on the Dizzy is similar but thought I'd ask if anyone had bought just the alternator or VR condensor, and if so (Part number? auto parts store? brand name? Probably denso. I, of all fricken people (Stereo installer by trade) have engine noise but did'nt get it until I installed the ZX alternator into the 240Z. Thanks, Dave.
  10. Arne, Well in that case, I'll make sure I order extras what I make the order. The rest of you..... You guys need to stop posting picks of yer engine compartment unless you're gonna clean it up first. You're making me look good over here. Just messing with ya'll Dave.

I don't know man, If some one "Toots my horn" she better be HOT or at least as good looking as my wife. Oh ya, did I tell ya that Leah is having the rest of her teeth pulled in NOV. and will be fitted for dentures in January. OH LUCKY ME !!! (GET IT?) Dave.
  12. Hey Arne! Got Oil Leaks? Can I buy just a basic condensor at the local auto parts store? I now have the ZX alternator and the ZX adaptor and the alternator did'nt come with a condensor and I think the stock one that is connected to the VR plug is bad. Should I buy 2 of them? And one other question, did ya send out that letter we spoke of earlier last week? I'm getting ready to call "my Guy" and wanted to know if you still wanted those items. Dave.
  13. That is too weird, I never knew that there was any thing other than the usual Steel catch on the inspection lid. I must have been asleep too long or just never paid attension to it. Dave.
  14. I knew it had to be something like. The 70's went up as far as 10,999 from what I've observed and been told. usually anything 11k and up is a 71' but then again, that all runs into the dealership problem of "sell it like it's next years model" Too bad those idiots did'nt know the problems they caused back then for us trying to keep track of what is what. Congrats again Mike, Me and Leah will come up someday soon. Do you work at the UW hospital or something like that? Dave. And what's up with those round flange carbs? gimme a hint, original?
  15. That sounds like and awesome aquisition but I see one flaw in the numbers. My 8/70 has a vin of 08077. You said your 7/70 has a 10k+ vin. and that's not possible. probably more in the 7k range. Just thought I'd throw that at ya. not a big deal but you'll find that something is wrong in the numbers. Me and Leah only live about 30 miles away and should make a trip out there to check 'em out and BS about the Z's. Let me know what ya think, Dave. wolfin32z@yahoo.com
  16. I clicked on the link and left it open for the wife, I walked away with it on the monitor so she'd find it and play the game. She found it, started clicking numbers, her smile got bigger by the number, until she hit number 1, then she got all pissy then laughed it off. Thanks for messing with my wifes mind, she don't get enough of that at home. Dave.
  17. That's exactly like the one I saw, It's a beautiful speciman of a convertable 240Z. I love the Italian look, and I think corvette did something similar to it this year. Love the hidden wiper cowl as well. Thanks, Dave.
  18. I just saw one the other day that had the corvette/ferrari style Headrest area in the trunk mold. Kind of hard to explain but the roll bar that went behind each seat, was in between the seats and the fiberglass trunk mold, with a lifted area behind each seat. Looked very nice and had that Italian ferrari/Lamborgini look to it. But I'm not normally to keen on the convertable Z. It's beautiful as a hard top. Dave.

Then let me be the first to say WELCOME!!!. You'll find everything here, including How To's, What should I do's and fitting the right shoes (wheels and tires) Sorry, it rhymed. There are plenty of people here who make and sell every kind of Upgrade you could imagine, including headlight and parking light upgrade Harness's, alternator upgrades, LET taillight upgrades and other items for all over the cars. Keep in mind that most 240Z's have electrical problems and the Harness's that I make (Links are listed below in my signiture) will fix most of those problems. I also do a combo and Turn Signal switch rebuild for the 240Z's. There are also Blower motor upgrades, seat swap info, and many more at your disposal. This site and it's members get the pleasure of having MSA ( www.zcarparts.com ) and Nissan Sport Magazine and many other vendors at our fingertips. Keep us up to date on your progress and don't be afraid to ask the obvious questions. Dave.

Perfectly normal on almost any 240Z. Worry when it does'nt do it. There is a spring on the pivot arm and it makes noise when you flip the switch to off. The motor goes in reverse and the springs "Clicks" Kinda like a safety clutch. Dave.

Sounds great, where's the videos? Just thought I'd ask. Dave
  22. I totally understand this one. The ONLY time that my Z has been damaged is when I was PARKED and NOT even in the car!!! The first week I owned my Z, An old man with a van (no rear windows) and a towball that stuck out over 12" from his bumper, backed into my front bumper, hitting it dead center and splitting the bumper in the middle. That's why I now have 2 corner bumpers instead of a full bumper in front. one year after that, in the SAME DAMN PARKING LOT!!!, A drunk in a HUGE 4X4 truck, backed over my Z's hood with his tow hitch (no ball, just the square hitch part) the pics are in my gallory and some of you probably remember me ranting and bitching about it. He dented the hell out of the hood, indented my radiator under the hood and drove away before any one could get his licence. At least the guy in the van came back and paid for a new bumper, even though I reused what I had. I talk on the phone while driving but I used the speaker phone feature so I can keep BOTH hands and eyes on the wheel. Dave.

Once again, not to sure of the Aussie diferences but the 240Z's all had front parking light/turn signals under the bumpers, under the headlights. The 260Z had them inside the grill area. 260Z=square T/S--parking light? inside the grill area 240Z=teardrop shaped, under the bumper 240Z=reverse lights in the taillights 260Z=reverse lights between tail light assembly and license plate 240Z early years had no shock absorber on the bumper, later year 240Z's had a frame mounted shock absorber, I think..... 260Z (as mentioned above) had skinny 240Z style bumpers thru mid production and then went to the larger 280Z style "Fat" bumpers and into the 280Z models. That's all I know and I may not be 100% positive but most of it is true, Dave.

Each harness has a protective vinyl sleeve that protects the harness where it goes thru the radiator support wall. ALSO there should be a bubber grommet around the hole where the harness goes thru the support wall, if it is gone or damaged, cut a length of 3/16" hose and split the hose down the middle, fit it around the diameter of the hole that the harness goes thru. This will keep the harness from shorting out on the metal there.
